“I used to live in Japan and I LOVE getting this in the mail every month because it authentic, high quality, and celebrates traditional foods and history. I’m always surprised at the variety! Great value for what you get. This is a well thought out curated box and I would recommend it to anyone!”
“Pros:
-Lovely box
-Arrived quickly
-Variation of snacks
-booklet gives you details on each snack
-Legit straight from Japan
-Worthwhile purchase overall
Cons:
-Lovely box sometimes has no protection and comes with the shipping sticker straight on it
-Contains one single packet of bagged tea
(If the package is meant to be shared, its going to be a pretty small pot of tea for the group)
-Some more fragile crackers can come broken (if sent with no protection for box)
So overall good, but room for improvement.”
“The Sakuraco box brings my family joy every month. We wait to open it together and enjoy unpacking and sampling all the treats. We enjoyed this month’s Taste of Hokkaido box much more than the matcha box last month. The azuki items were lovely and the tea was lovely. The favourite item was the Hokkaido mini biscuits. It felt like we were actually visiting Hokkaido when eating these local specialities.”
“This Summer Hokkaido box has too many little sweets to be my fav, not enough variety & nothing very substantial...just a lot of white flour. I should say that in past I always chose my boxes & skipped a month if it didn't appeal (I always look for a big bag of mochi), but I got stung, not realizing that when I moved to multi-month plan, suddenly I can't skip a month. Sakuraco does not tell you this that I can see. Probably a translation problem, but it is deceitful. PLUS when you sign up for the special freebie promotion, you only get that bonus the first month (also not spelled out), and totally unfair, you lose your original intro sign-up bonus. So many silly obscure rules (Japanese culture I guess), which I have emailed them about. I think I may just stick to Yamibuy & Yummy Bazaar & my local Japanese grocers. It's a shame, b/c Sakuraco does a great job & I loved the recent Zoom tour of Japan, but they are just not consumer-friendly. No more overnight DHL; their new shipper takes 2 weeks (which is why I wanted to skip the hot summer months, but I can't) and tracking showed up 6 hours after package was lying downstairs. I see June Mystery items now show complete ingredient lists, and the additives and chemicals are now there for everyone to see. I'm guessing prices are bound to increase, so I would probably have canceled sooner or later.”
“I love the June box, but I thought we were getting the strawberry cookie in our box but we didn't! The YouTube video we watched unboxing this box showed it was in it. Very disappointed but good box though!”
“The delivery was very fast and got here in only 2 days. The sweets are very delicious and the tea is refreshing, and not to mention the authentic Japanese feeling of all the products. The booklet provided was both informative and interesting.”
“You can always rely on getting high quality goods from Sakuraco. Other subscription boxes cut corners but Sakuraco goes out of its way to collaborate with known providers to send you exceptional and authentic snacks.”
“The subscription is automatic renewal but you will not be informed of this at the time of subscribing. I was charged $540 without prior notice, which is a significant amount of money just for snacks. I have requested a cancellation and refund of my subscription as soon as I was infomred about the charges but they refused and is still refusing to refund my subscription. There is no way to contact them but to open a ticket. I find this unfair and deceitful. They are hiding negative comment on their social media so that no one will find out about their decpetion. I would never recommend this to anyone. Avoid subscribing if you do not want to be charged against your will”
