“The packaging in the presentation are very nice. However, the chocomochi wrappers are difficult to remove. We would like to see things that are more fruity, buttery or creamy. Something with matcha or peach.”
“The choc mochi was the favorite for February. Also loved the bowl which I used for making matsutake soup and also serves as a great dish for the little items from the box. Little disappointed in the chocolate strawberry. The tangerine flavor yokan was very refreshing. Oh, the yuzu drink was the most impressive. I tried to find out where I could purchase the packets because it would help anyone with throat/cold symptoms.”
“January box 2023 got a little lost in the mail. The team was great and helped me to locate it. When it arrived it was FULL of wonderful snacks. My family and I really enjoyed trying all the new flavors.”
“After living in Japan for a few years, these monthly boxes are a delightful reminder of some of my favorite things from the country. The box was timely, and i loved that it was focused on the seasonal Valentine's treats. The seasons are something to be awaited when it comes to food in Japan. The variety between sweet and savory was well balanced, and a lovely postcard and plastic bowl was included. My favorite treats are always the rice crackers of any sort, but for the sweet either the strawberry mugi or the chocolate ichigo this month.”
“I'm so happy I decided to purchase this subscription. There is a large variety of quality snacks and it is all explained clearly in the booklet they give you what each product is made of. They even give you a little backstory for them.
The delivery was very fast, I got it after a week of subscribing.
I've always wanted to visit Japan and this is the closest I can get to it for the time being. I'll even be able to recognise some food before I travel there.”
“I loved the variety in the snacks, and trying new stuff. However, I disliked how one item tasted literally like my school cafeteria pancakes… and that the bowl was plastic”
“New Year's in Niigata is my second box from Sakuraco and I am just as in love with this box as I was the December box! I love getting the greeting postcard and the booklet that lets us get to know the region, puts a spotlight on the makers, and has information about the current holiday traditions of the region. The booklet also provides information on the treats and home goods included in the box. This year was the year of the Rabbit 2023 and there were two specific treats that embodied the feel of the season. These two treats were the Snow Rabbit soft chew and the Rabbit Hozui. These two treats were designed to look like little rabbits and were soft and fluffy marshmallow-like with a bit of gummy element to them. Very tasty! I loved the Echighime Strawberry Crepe! It was light and fluffy with strawberry mousse inside. There was a sake cup included in the box this month, so of course, I had to get some sake and toast the new year with my family. The Hyoroku Mochi (Take note: they come with edible rice paper wrapping) was very nostalgic of being a child and getting candy gummies to eat. There was a fortune cookie with a QR code to check out my fortune for the new year, which was a fun treat! The Niigata Nanban Shrimp Crackers were good. Shrimp is not my personal favorite flavor, but if you love shrimp, you will definitely love these crackers! I love the Hatsune Okaki! They are little rice crackers that are both savory and sweet with sugar crystals on the top, very tasty! Again, I really enjoyed the sweet and savory Bakauke Sesame Rice Crackers and the Negi Miso Senbei, so good! The Negi Miso Senbei was like having a crunchy version of the soup. The Ajigonomi was a very special treat! I really enjoyed the little rice crackers mixed in with the dried anchovies! I love sardines and anchovies, so this was a nice surprise! The Brown Sugar Karinto was so good! It reminded me of eating caramel corn with my grandma when I was a kid, so this was very nostalgic for me. The Matcha Anko Dorayaki is a cake-like treat with matcha bean paste in the middle and is very soft and fluffy. The Genmai Black Bean Houjicha tea is wonderful and smooth! Finally, the new year's box came with a mystery treat that came with a QR code in order to identify which treat we received. My treat was the very tasty Romansketch Biscuit, which was like a shortbread cookie sandwich with vanilla frosting inside. Yum!! Overall, I really am enjoying my Sakuraco subscription!”
“Sakuraco is definitely on the pricier side but it is worth it! From the extravagant packaging that and the carefully curated box, the snacks and tea selection are a rewarding experience. The only thing I wished was improved upon was the tableware. Most of the items I got were plastic and not microwavable. I don't order often but I wish the quality of those pieces were better.”
“Sakuraco is a nice dose of pleasant surprises in the middle of what has been a monotonous few years for me. Due to health and unfortunate circumstances I have not been able to get out much, and these snack boxes are bringing me so much joy in the form of new experiences. The box comes full of quality items every month, including teas of a quality I haven't had since my sister brought me some back direct from Japan. The only downside is if I love a particular snack, some of them are very hard to get in the US so I have to enjoy them while they last!”
“I could not have asked for better. This was my first box and everything in it was amazing in one way or another, and it was even fun reading about the treats. Can’t wait for next month’s box.”
“Loving my Sakuraco subscription. It’s great to experience the various snacks and sweets included as well as the cultural information included in every box. Visiting Japan would be my dream trip. Every month I get to experience a little taste of Japan.”
“I really love the Japanese box that my husband gave me so well. I have never experienced the rich variety of Japanese snacks that you can taste in a small box, each package is beautiful and each snack is exquisite and delicious, and I love the little bowl that comes with the box. I'm already looking forward to the next few months and I'm excited to see what these Japanese boxes will bring me.”
