Screwfix in Chelmsford is ok probably for men, but there is a very bad staff attitude towards elderly pensioner women. Making me sign a paper each time I pickup something but cannot see anybody else having to do this. It is not a pleasure visiting screwfix in chelmsfprd, no smiles there!

Ordered Tuesday at 7.30 , told to turn up at midday Wednesday. Wednesday at 12.00 told item was in but not in ( hadn’t logged into their system ) told to wait for their text should be an hour but could be 3 . Had to drive 7 miles to go there so drove back home and still waiting for the text

Every time I want a tool or a some thing associated with it they never have it in and also when ever they get a good product in they have it for about 12 months and then discontinue it but still advertise it which is so disappointing.

if you order 15 items expect 4 or 5 of those items to be out of stock , i have never had a fulfilled order in ages . shame really as they used to be the go to company for anything.

Hartlepool Branch. Branch needs to vet or train employees in a bot of customer service. Possibly the third time staff have not been the best for me. “Surname” “Confirm address”, that was todays conversation. No hello, thank you, good bye. I often get the feeling they don't want to be there. One time, the staff were to busy with their own conversation than dealing with me. Needs a couple of adults whom know how to interact with customers.

Agree with most of the good reviews as that has been my experience up to now however on this occasion orderd items listed as in stock and expected to collect. Then an email advising coming from the distribution warehouse. That was three days ago , raised a complaint which they have acknowledged but its false to claim to have something you don't have and not fair to toolstation or amazon who although were cheaper were honest that the items were on one or two days delivery respectively. Note a few posts about claiming items available , so just advising you check although this is my first poor experience in many years.

I ordered 3 radiators from screwfix. They told me that 2 of them were available straight away and the 3rd would take 5 days. I asked if they could all be delivered in 1 drop as I am not living at the address yet. I was told that this was fine. I asked the member of staff serving me to write the delivery date down for me - he did - Mon 4th Feb 10am. So there I am waiting at the house om the given date and time. At around 10:30am I called screwfix to ask where my delivery was. I was told that 2 had been taken to a post office after a delivery attempt on 1st Feb! They had sent a txt but had the wrong phone number for me. The other radiator I am still waiting for and was told that I would be contacted about the delivery. I am having the heating fitted today 5th so I had to drive to the post office and carry 2 radiators though town to my car in the car park. And the other radiator is still missing. This has caused so much stress and unnessary inconvenience.

30 day strict no return policy is harsh and not competitive. Many other retailers are much more flexible. The item was completely resalable, I was only a couple of days over and would have happily accepted an exchange or credit note, so they wouldn't have lost the sale. But now they've lost a customer.

I was in the Thetford store this morning! I was appalled by the lack of staff and waiting time. There were 2 people working. A que in screwfix and a que in trade both had about 5/6 customers and waiting to be served. The staff were very polite and apologetic and did the best they could. However I have a job to get to! 2 staff members is not acceptable!

Ordered on line and booked delivery for Friday which they accepted. So booked tradesmen for Saturday. On Wednesday was advised that bathroom equipment would not arrive until following Tuesday. Not a total catastrophe as tradesmen could commence on kitchen. On Thursday attempted to get timeslot for Fridays delivery. Parcelforce did not recognise order number. Screwfix stated could not guarantee delivery timeslot as it was parcelforce's responsibility. Stated that they often texted prior to delivery. Explained that delivery address has no signal. Not their problem ! Advised to wait at delivery address (with no bathroom or kitchen facilities) from 0800 hours until 1830 hours in the hopes that delivery would happen and that I wouldn't have to cancel my tradesmen. This is not good enough. No problems like this with Wickes. Will stick with Wickes in future.

I have almost given up with them, sadly sometimes I have to go to one of their stores out of need. Most of their staff seem poorly trained, cold, some are lacking basic manners or cocky. It's just another part of B And Q so what else should I expect. The Abingdon branch is the worst laid out that I have come across ; If busy the central racking can cause total queuing confusion, and the road access can be a pain too.

On the plus side, they tend to have products I want. On the minus side they are a shambles. They have a 'Click and Collect' service. The problem is, despite the overhead signs, they use all tills the same. So when you are just collecting something, you have to queue up behind all the people who are not sure what they went and spend ages at the till thumbing through the brochure. Yesterday they had 10 items on special offer, one being a fan heater. I dropped in to buy one, and they had one on display. Trouble was, the Computer could not recognise it (nor half their products). They had loads of them instore, but said they could not sell me one. After some time, they said the best thing was for me to drive home, order it online and then return to the store!!! Eventually they agreed to sell me one on paperwork 'but only on this occasion'!!!! The Manager refused to come out and deal with this, but left a Young Girl to do it. She did a good job in the circumstances. Maybe they should swap places. The above is typical for Screwfix. They have a centralised system, so when one store is out, they are all out, which is frequently.

As my ordering list will show I used Screwfix on a weekly bases for tools and materials. The disappointment stems from when you try and speak to a manager or supervisor to query a delivery. It is impossible to speak to either, however, the manager will listen into the telephone conversation and advise the operator on what to say. Their delivery system is suppose to be next day, however, this is not the case I have to telephone them and ask them when the order will be delivered. I was even supplied a 5 litre container of varnish that had been severly damaged wrapped in a plastic bag. I ordered a bench saw and extension - the extension arrive but the table saw never. These are only a view of the disappointments that I endured. I wrote a letter to the Director I received a standard letter from customer service outlining their policy on dealing with customer queries but that was it. I now shop else where.
