“Not responding to messages or answering calls, unable to deal with referencing a self employed person who can provide tax returns, invoices, bank statements. They are causing untold stress and risking homelessness. Avoid avoid avoid - and Lettings agents, please use someone else for your potential tenants!”
“Any positive reviews have to be a lie. Had to contact a solicitors just to get our deposit back after 5 weeks of being told it has been released. They will email you threatening legal action 24 hours after your rent is due but when the shoe is on the other foot they couldn’t care less. Terrible customer service, terrible communication, no response to the majority of emails and they upped the rent so much 3/4 of the original tenants left once their current tenancy had ended. On top of this we had water pouring through our ceiling and they never even checked the electrics. Avoid avoid avoid.”
“I haven't been able to submit the form for two days because the address history section won't go through. I've tried different formats. I contacted customer support — the chat isn't working, no one answers the phone, and there's no response to my email. My whole rental application process is being delayed because the system won't accept the address history and doesn't indicate where the error is.”
“In the middle of referencing at the minute, I only get automated emails that don't answer my questions, after waiting days for a response. I sit on hold for up to half an hour then the call just ends. My guarantor referencing is complete but I missed a document so I sent it and they took 3 days to acknowledge that it was sent, then have made no effort to finish my reference, even though they have acknowledged that they have all of the documents required. Do not use this company if at all possible, complete waste of time and makes moving 10x more stressful than it already is.”
“If your using a lettings agent and they use these avoid. They contradict everything, ask for stuff twice, more stressful than anything. We decided against the house due to the amount of time it took, and the things they asked for. Tenants avoid and lettings agent reconsider who you use!”
“Waist of time please ask letting agency first place if they go through letting hub do not waist your money and upset Their online portal is poorly designed, making it difficult to navigate and track progress. It lacks clarity, and the UI feels outdated and unintuitive. On top of that, customer service has been unhelpful—long response times, vague updates, and a general lack of urgency.
For a service that is supposed to streamline tenant referencing, Lettings Hub has done the opposite. If you’re in a time-sensitive situation, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere.”
“Totally incompetent. Their representative demanded that the reason for requiring additional financial data, despite having proved an income of far greater then the ceiling required, and stating it was the Agent’s prerequisite when in fact it was Letting Hub’s mandate. This caused undue angst and required the Agent to step in. Don’t know what commission you get but maybe you should use more of your prfit to train your people better!”
“One star is too many. Do not answer emails, hide behind the tech, faceless and very ignorant. Do not use these people if you want something done properly. My agent used these people and they are no longer my agent because of them and they don't seem to care. I will always ask now who an agent uses. I have discovered since that the agent didn't do anything itself, outsourced everything, nice money if you can get it.”
“If any potential tenant reading this has the slightest opportunity of avoiding this company, please do. Moving homes is already very stressful and time consuming and this company will make things worse. Experienced their ‘services’ two times in the past three years.”
“Avoid this company and those who insist on using them if you can. As per other reviews here, we were repeatedly asked by their automated 'portal' for documents already provided days before, as admitted verbally by their helpline - causing all kinds of deadline and moving problems. Their own staff blamed an under-resourced reference checking department for the 'backlog'. Polite enough helpline, but poor management and / or excessively profit-hungry accountants and cowboy/cowgirl directors can only be to blame. Concerns also (as with most referencing operations providing 'add-on' services) about data protection... Prospective tenants: ask up front who is being used to reference your let. If it is www.lettingshub.co.uk then take the reviews here seriously and consider asking for an alternative or looking elsewhere. Letting agents: Consider the effects on your business and the industry as a whole of using this company.”
“Absolute poor example of referencing, left it until the last day before move in day stating they've not received any documents.
Despite the fact all documents have been provided, the portal saying everything has been completed.
Now delayed move in date, stated we wouldn't need a reference from previous landlord as I've provided lease and account statements but now they need it.
And then chasing employer 3 times for something they have already provided.
They could have dealt with this within the last two weeks but left it until it was too late to do anything.
Now I'm considering withdrawal from the property due to the stress this has caused.
Avoid these at all costs.”
“Absolutely useless!!!!
there is nothing i could write here about lettings hub that everyone here has not experienced themselves. they simply do not know what they are doing. the person answering the phone is not the one "doing the work". ( or not doing the work as in this case) . they attach documents, then remove them from the portal afterwards, or they confirm they have received them, then lose them or delete them off the portal. all they do is stress out everyone that has to deal with them , including the letting agent who wants tenants processed quickly to provide a service to the landlords. Take ages to answer the phone as well. Have to hangup half the time. AVOID.”
“Tedious and convoluted process. They won't notify you if they require more information, so you have to keep in constant contact or your move-in date will be delayed. It can take up to 30 minutes for them to pickup the phone. I once waited from half 4 to 5 only for an automated voicemail to then tell me they've closed.
They wouldn't tell me what information my guarantor is missing because of privacy reasons, if a date or figure is missing from a letter/reference then they'll reject you but won't notify you, and they'll want everything from you for the last 3 years: bank statement, proof of rent paid from 3 years ago, references from 3 years ago, access to your banking etc.
After 4 weeks, including my move-in being delayed, I gave up. I told the landlord that I'm no longer moving in because of The Lettings Hub and found somewhere else.”
“Like a previous poster, I couldn’t write this with 0 stars. This is an appalling organisation, very invasive questioning and the reference website is repetitive and very clunky. They insust on more checks than many other organisations including asking for passport, driving license and birth certificate. They wanted direct access to my bank accounts to ‘verify’ them but understandably my bsnk account blocked it.
I really don’t understand why landlords or agents use them.”
