“After paying a fortune for a colour I hated, I decided to try The Shade. I am NOT a hair savvy person. Can’t curl, can’t style, burn my fingers etc. The Shade gave great instructions, both written and via You Tube. I watched both, but you could do it with either alone. Coverage was great, including greys and horrible red semi tint. Colour was very similar to what it looked like on the site. So happy I am trying streaks/tints next.”

“I’m so pleased I found The Shade! I’ve dyed my hair with The Shade 4 times now - 3 times with 20vol but I found it didn’t fully cover a few pesky stubborn grey strands so this time I upgraded to 27vol and it did the job. This time I also purchased the full size shampoo and conditioner because I love how the ones the come with the colour make my hair smell! Camilla on The Shade team was very helpful with all my questions on email. I think I’ll be using The Shade for many years to come- it makes my hair so shiny and seems a lot more gentle than regular at home hair colour.”

“I have been using the product for 2+ years. The result is as expected. I would mark it 5, but on couple of occasion the dye in the tube oxidized, assuming was not seal properly. However it did not affect the result”

“I really recommend The Shade. Camilla was so helpful in helping me choose the right colour and she answered my queries very promptly. The application was easy, and I was happy with the colour overall, however, next time I think I'll try mixing in some more ash tones. I will speak to Camilla more about this. I'm also using the Tsubaki oil recommended. Hopefully that will start to make a change to my dry ends soon!”

“Hi, I didn’t have a great experience with the online colourist. I said on my initial email the colour I wanted and she told me I needed to go 2 shades lighter. I managed to convince her to meet in the middle and go up one shade, but once it was used, it was almost the exact colour of my hair and wasn’t the darker look that I was after.”

Hi Betsy, I have just review the notes of your consultation and the colourist did not "try to convince you to go two levels lighter". She didn't suggest you go lighter at all. She advised a colour which was one level darker than your existing colour, which was exactly what you requested in your colourist consultation. The colour you wanted to try was 2-3 levels darker than your original colour level. We always recommend adding depth in stages, because it is always easier to add colour than to take it away. The colour you suggested would have taken you from a bronde light brown-dark blonde to a dark brown, and as you had indicated you wanted to add one level of depth only, that was not an appropriate choice. The colour our colourist recommended would ensure that you added just one level of depth (as requested), not 2-3 levels of depth (and you may then have been unhappy with such as dark result!). “Love The Shade. I just can't afford to go to the hairdresser anymore to dye my greys and I was using box dyes from the supermarket that were terrible. Someone recommended The Shade and it is amazing. The first shade I ordered wasn't quite right and contacted customer service and they were great at recommending mixing two shades and I have been using these two together and it's perfect - salon quality for the same price as the supermarket box dyes - LOVE IT”

“Home dye kits from the supermarket or chemist would always leave my colour looking brassy and the ends my hair with colour build-up & damage. The kit I receive through The Shade, completed with the method outlined in the instructions leaves me with a natural look without having to spend hundreds at a hairdresser & my hair is so healthy & shiny. Seriously, do yourself a favour, set up a subscription!”

“This is super easy to mix and apply. My greys are very tenacious, and they do show through quickly. I have dark brown hair, and my grey is super shiny silver (looks like a christmas tree shed on me). A previous hairdresser put a red tint in my hair and it has been impossible to get out. So I got the Ash shade 5.1. It's lovely, and some of the warm colour still shows through. It's not a matte colour and looks very natural. I experienced zero itching or burning (prone to it). Very impressed. I only needed one application for my hair. I put it through all of my hair as I wanted the colour to blend. This picture was taken two weeks after colouring, and it's still beautiful. Doesn't fade, and is very shiny and healthy. And it smells nice! I also got the application kit - it's very useful. If I could make a couple of suggestions on that - the clips are not very strong and my hair kept falling out of them, and the brush could be a bit wider. very glad I found this product and have been recommending it to all my friends!”

“Unfortunately the light ash blonde toner did not work out that well. I used it over my original blonde highlights, then newly added highlights done the same day. It made my hair all the one boring brown colour, completely hiding any highlights and making me go from blonde to brunette with greyish highlights. I don’t like the final look at all. I originally had a colour consultant recommend this colour, after I sent through a photo.”

HI Carly, Sorry you weren't happy with your colour result. I can see that you used a colour to cover your highlights, which is contrary to what our colourist recommended. Our colourist recommended a root smudge which doesn't cover your highlights. You indicated that you wanted to touch up your highlights, not cover them.
