Hi Wanda, So sorry to hear that you didn't get the grey coverage you were after. We can help improve your grey coverage and I am happy to send you a free Colour Kit with a new developer which will deliver better grey coverage for you. Overall, were you happy with Toscano 4.1 Dark Ash Brown in the lengths of your hair? If so, then I will arrange to ship a Toscano Colour Kit, but please confirm if you are happy that colour. Please reply to support@theshade.com.au In terms of grey coverage, as you may know, grey hair often has a different texture, because along with the loss of pigment there are also changes to the outer cuticle layer of greys which can make them resistant to colouring. The outer cuticle layer of greys is thicker and more tightly packed and it can be more difficult for the colour to be absorbed resulting in insufficient colour coverage. Our new 27 vol developer is specifically formulated to cover resistant-greys. It is stronger than our standard 20 vol developer and it will lift the cuticle on your greys, allowing the colour to be successfully deposited within the hair. I am happy to arrange a free Colour Kit for you to try the product again with the 27 vol developer - please just let me know your preferences on the colour. “I was very disappointed with the colour remover. It didn’t do anything except make my hair smell horrible! The new colour I applied didn’t really change my overall colour. It did cover the greys though. I’m not sure how to go lighter now. I guess it will have to be a salon visit $$$$”

“I ordered Montechristo Light Ash brown as i wanted to ensure i didnt add any warmth as my hair throws brassy tones. It is darker than i eventually want but it has given me a solid colour base and removed the brass i had. I look forward to cinnecting with a colourist to change my next colour. My hair feels very healthy and shiny.”

“I was looking for an alternative to hair colouring products aside from noxious off the shelf varieties and other "subscribe" home colouring services that focus more on product than glossy marketing/spamming and came across The Shade. It's getting pretty desparate in this economy and I took a punt and was cautiously optimistic. I was really impressed with the shade range, particularly in the darker shades as it gets really problematic when greys with darker tones tend to get "brassy". Picked Salento and not only did the darkest ash brown match my natural hair colour, it covered greys IMPRESSIVELY but not only that, it absolutely did not irritate my scalp nor exacerbate my PSORIASIS!!! I saw my regular hairdresser a couple of days after I coloured my hair and she was genuinely impressed and wondered why my hair was "so soft" - I didn't even crack open the mask or other hair treatments and only used the conditioner and left it on for almost an hour with the heat cap on!! This is NOT a paid review - I spent over $170 (!!!) getting the tools, heat cap, a few lots of colour, hair oil, mask and a couple of protein treatments to take advantage of the discount with the first order. Customer service was also super responsive when one of the oilsl sachets leaked in a box of colour and sent out two replacements, no muss no fuss!”

“I’ve tried so many at-home hair dyes over the years, and The Shade is honestly the only one that consistently works for my hair. The quality is noticeably better than typical box dye — my hair feels soft, healthy, and conditioned after coloring, not dry or damaged. The Shade the color stays vibrant and true for weeks. I don’t get that brassy, washed-out look that usually shows up way too soon. Because of this, I don’t have to visit a salon every 6–8 weeks anymore. I can maintain my color at home and still feel confident with how it looks. It’s saved me time, money, and a lot of frustration — and I genuinely wouldn’t use anything else now.”

“Really happy with 6.1 Montecristo light ash brown, I used 27 developer and it covered my greys. The Shade colours all seem quite multidimensional i.e. keep any highlights. I remember using supermarket box dyes back in the day and they always came out so solid, these colours are way better. Also impressed with the cool colouring of this - actually comes out with no/extremely minimal red tones!”

“I love the service and the very many shades available. I purchased a thermal treatment pack (so good), and Ash colour with 10x cover and an extra tube for long hair.
