“I absolutely love the results :) my hair feels so soft and silky afterwards and the colour is a beautiful natural brown. The kit gives you so many tools to use for future dying and the quality of everything was great. I have very long hair so there was more than enough product to colour everything. In these lockdown times, it was great to have everything delivered to my door in an all-in-one easy kit. I’m thinking I may never need to go to a salon for colouring anymore haha. “Started off really liking the Shade. It was gentle on my scalp and didn’t irritate my head at all and the colour was nice and natural. However, my last 3 orders, the colour has not been sticking on my hair at all, despite following all the insurrections and recently made my roots go many shades lighter. I went to a hair dresser and she said I had “hot roots” and the 27 developer was actually lifting my natural colour and making it too light.”

“I’ve been using The Shade to colour my hair since Covid lockdowns. I’ve continued to use you despite hairdressers being accessible for years as I’m not only saving around $800 a year on hair colouring services at my hairdresser but my scalp has stopped being irritated. My hairdresser had advised it was my shampoos causing dermatitis but once lockdowns started, my search for a reliable home colour product led me to discover that it wasn’t my shampoos but the hair colour used at my salon! I found the advice from your colourists, despite not seeing me in person but only reading the information I gave online (remember this was during Covid lockdowns) was amazing and spot on that they helped me find a colour that is pretty much the colour of my hair before I started going grey. Now I just use it to colour my regrowth every 3-4 weeks at around $25 a pop. Also my hairdresser is more than fine with me colouring my own hair at home. He does a lovely cut and recently put some blonde highlights and gave me advice how to keep using The Shade for my regrowth without removing the highlights. Highly recommend to anyone to use. No itchy scalp and honestly saving hundreds of dollars a year. Also my hair always looks glossy and healthy as it deeply conditions every time I use it.”

“This product should not be marketed as hypoallegenic - this is dishonest and shame on you - a belated google of the product ingredients is illuminating - let me know if you want me to share the extreme reaction on my inside elbow? Recorcin and TOLUENE-2,5-DIAMINE SULFATE - seriously? Beware this product”

Hi Belinda, I'm sorry you had a reaction, and I'm glad that you performed an Allergy Alert test according to our instructions. We have removed the main irritants from our hair colour such as ammonia, PPD, parabens and SLS. We have replaced PPD with Toluene-2,5-Diamine Sulfate which has a far less incidence of allergic reaction compared to PPD. All our ingredients are clearly stated on our website. “I was very nervous packet dying my hair on my own. The shade provide everything to make doing it yourself very easy they send tutorials talking you through the steps and send a complete kit. The results were amazing salon quality. 2 weeks on and it still looks fresh and my hair is really healthy. I used dark brown.”

“Fool proof hair colour. Easy to use and produces a lovely colour without itchiness. My only wish is that they had real images of the hair colour on models rather than AI, as the colours displayed in the AI images, don’t necessarily give a true colour representation. Lucky I still liked the colour though!”

“I brought this product due to being ammonia free and 3 hours after colouring my scalp is burning and itching I've rinsed it twice with water and still burning i did do a strand test very disappointing”

Hi Sonya, I'm sorry you had an allergic reaction. I can see you did a strand test, but did you do an Allergy Alert Test as recommended on the instructions? An Allergy Alert Test is performed on your skin and any reaction would be very noticable. A strand test doesn't have contact with your skin. “I used 8.2 Beige blonde - on a base of 7 with about 30% grey & blonde highlights on ends. I throw a lot of warmth so I wasnt expecting cool tones but I was hoping for it. I ended up with a light copper / caramel shade that I'm not hating but also not overly loving.”

“I am 8 months postpartum so I don’t have the time to get to a salon often. I have been looking at The Shade for quite some time and decided to bite the bullet and give them a try. I’m so glad I did, I purchased the dark ash bond as I was hoping to blend my roots better than my current blonde and go for a more natural look. The whole process was so easy and user friendly. I absolutely love the result and all of my friends have complimented my hair and were shocked when I said I did it at home. I purchased an demi permanent just incase I didn’t like the colour as it washes out in approx 10 washes but I will definitely be buying it again but this time I will be buying the permanent colour. I genuinely feel like I have salon quality colour at home at a fraction of the price. If you’re on the fence about buying, take the plunge and give it a go. I’m very happy with how my hair turned out and have told all of my friends about it.”
