“I absolutely love the results :) my hair feels so soft and silky afterwards and the colour is a beautiful natural brown. The kit gives you so many tools to use for future dying and the quality of everything was great. I have very long hair so there was more than enough product to colour everything. In these lockdown times, it was great to have everything delivered to my door in an all-in-one easy kit. I’m thinking I may never need to go to a salon for colouring anymore haha. “The company itself is great. Hair feels nice after colouring. However, the colour we purchased was nothing like chart on the website. Not sure if there was a mistake with the labelling but its very dark. We have run some brightening blonde shampoo we have at home to try and improve the colour. Quite disappointed as two lots were purchased.”

Having a darker result is often caused by failing to remove darker pigments from your hair prior to applying a new colour. “Unfortunately even after the tips on how to get stubborn grey's to colour, the greys are still visible. I used 27vol, left on for over an hour. Im not sure if the formulation has changed as the last time I used it, I didn't have this issue and it colored beautifully.”

“I think your products are wonderful and their quality great, but I found information from your colourist a little confusing, partly because I was viewing it on my mobile screen (small) and partly because the same colour I bought and tried (which turned out to be too dark) was suggested to me again after I enquired about other options. Camilla shared her knowledge with me openly but when it came to my asking for more indepth information, I just didnt receive any replies. This concerned me as I needed guidance about colour as the one depicted on your website and the one she suggested turned very dark on my hair, as I mentioned. So in terms of customer service, although I am very sure that she is very busy with new customers, I wanted that further interaction with her and was disappointed I couldnt have it. I have now resorted to buying a stripping product and will now go into store and buy a medium brown, which is what I was trying to correspond with her about.”

“I’ve been using The Shade for around 6 months now. As a busy mum I don’t have time in my week to go to the hairdresser for 2+ hours and it wouldn’t be very relaxing with 2 children. I came across The Shade and uploaded a photo of my current hair my ideal hair colour and was emailed back with a colour recommendation. The application is simple and easy I can do it while my kids nap! I can get the hair salon look and feel without the time and cost. I love the auto-ship subscription because my next kit turns up at my door every 8 weeks meaning one less job for me to order it. I used the Shade Como Brown in the Demi-permanent and absolutely love my hair.”

“I loved how easy the process was and was impressed with there being no smell when colouring and my hair felt in great condition BUT the biggest disappointment was the colour result. Both colours I purchased from The Shade were very different to the picture on the website. This photo is of Medium golden blonde - it looks like I am a natural red head!! I am currently in the process of trying to dye it again with a store bought colour :( very disappointing and a waste of money”

“I was a bit skeptical when I first got on to this product but the service was amazing when I was trying to decide the colour & the instructions was very straight forward giving me the right mixture & all. I normally go to a hairdresser but she was going to be away so that’s when I thought I’d give this a go myself. I’m very impressed & happy with my outcome, was a bit tricky doing it myself due to arthritic hands & long hair but I got there and it left my hair so soft, I love their products. Hi Carissa, Thanks for getting in touch. The simple answer why your hair went orange is because you tried to lighten by too many levels. You also used a neutral colour, when a cool-based colour would have neutralised warm tones. I can see that you didn't complete our online colour consultation nor consult with one of our colourists. “Great coverage, colour and blend. Easy to use, no burning or irritation to the scalp. My roots were a dark mouse blonde and the medium blonde covered it nicely. Yes it has a red undertone, i think my hair has changed how it takes colour as I have gotten older but I am still really happy with how it has covered the regrowth. Ill be using the shade again and recommending to others as well. Middle and ends is the beige blonde.”

“I wish I'd found The Shade years ago, because I would have avoided a hair catastrophe, which is the only reason I looked online for hair colouring options, other than box kits from the chemist. I have short hair, highly damaged, and have been using The Shade for around 7 months. I've never had grey hair, because my hair skipped that stage and went straight to white. I've had fun trying many of the gorgeous colours, without causing extra damage to my hair. My hair is now in better condition than it's been for many years, and it's shiny. I've experimented with the 20 and 27 volume developers. For my hair, they both provide total coverage for a mass of white roots. The biggest surprise is the lack of fading. None. The colour holds in the lengths. No need to constantly add colour to highly processed hair, a perennial problem with box dyes. Now that I've settled on the best shade for me, I only need to touch up the roots, which I can do frequently without concern about causing damage. The Shade rescued me from the endless trauma of box dyes and bad hair.”

“I nervous about trying a new shade after years of bleach damage, but this completely exceeded my expectations. Brown dyes usually looked flat and artificial on my hair, but this gave me beautiful, natural-looking multidimensional colour. It covered my regrowth perfectly while blending seamlessly with my ends. I opted for Demi permanent. The top three things I noticed about the shade that beats the competition 1) Way less chemical and overwhelming smell of mixture 2) the oil barrier is a perfect addition to the kit and really does work. Zero staining, anywhere. 3) The pomegranate conditioner is lovely and has a smell like nothing I have experienced in the shower before! First impressions: * ✔️ Much less chemical smell than expected * ✔️ Barrier oil prevented any staining on my hairline, hands or surfaces * ✔️ The pomegranate-scented colour conditioner smelled amazing * ✔️ Natural, multidimensional finish instead of a flat block colour”
