“I absolutely love the results :) my hair feels so soft and silky afterwards and the colour is a beautiful natural brown. The kit gives you so many tools to use for future dying and the quality of everything was great. I have very long hair so there was more than enough product to colour everything. In these lockdown times, it was great to have everything delivered to my door in an all-in-one easy kit. I’m thinking I may never need to go to a salon for colouring anymore haha. “Great, natural looking hair colour. It’s gentle on my hair. The shampoo & conditioner are perhaps the best I’ve ever experienced. My hair felt hydrated after the colouring process. The only downside is that the actual shade is darker than the AI photo. I only used the 20 vol developer as blonde dyes usually take to my hair quite well. I will try the 27 vol developer next time to see if it will lighten the colour a shade or two.”

“I found The Shade over a year ago as I am allergic to most traditional hair colors, and it has been an amazing find. It causes zero irritation, and the colors look so natural with very nice, multi-dimensional nuances. Plus, it leaves my hair feeling unbelievably soft and shiny. “Perfect colour every time. I’ve been using the shade for about a year now and I’m really happy with the results. I feel like it is gentle on my hair and always leaves it shiny and well manageable. I love that it comes in a little packet and that I can customise when I want my next delivery. I like that. It doesn’t smell bad like some hair products and as I use the semi permanent it says it’s nicely there’s no harsh lines across my hair so I can just top up my roots as I need to. Since using the shade, I haven’t gone back to the hairdresser or the dreaded box dye.”

The best thing would be to contact one of our colourists here: https://theshade.com.au/colourist/ Most probably, our Dark Ash Blonde or Intense Dark Ash Blonde could be good options for you. “I received the highlights kit and it was my first time using this- 110% better than high quality in comparison to the average supermarket hair dye. However they could seriously improve their instruction manual and include a step by step guide on what to do and number the steps in correct order. I messed the entire process and the timing but i was still impressed by the colour result just not the best at dying my own hair without instructions. I was sort of expecting a clear instructions step by step process with a timing process ( i was freaking out with colour in my hair wondering if I had done it in the right order and how long to leave it in for and options of different highlights and how to achieve the looks.) I definitely found myself having to google my concerns or youtube example and thanks to ai for answering some of my questions.”

“The company itself is great. Hair feels nice after colouring. However, the colour we purchased was nothing like chart on the website. Not sure if there was a mistake with the labelling but its very dark. We have run some brightening blonde shampoo we have at home to try and improve the colour. Quite disappointed as two lots were purchased.”

Having a darker result is often caused by failing to remove darker pigments from your hair prior to applying a new colour. “Unfortunately even after the tips on how to get stubborn grey's to colour, the greys are still visible. I used 27vol, left on for over an hour. Im not sure if the formulation has changed as the last time I used it, I didn't have this issue and it colored beautifully.”

“I think your products are wonderful and their quality great, but I found information from your colourist a little confusing, partly because I was viewing it on my mobile screen (small) and partly because the same colour I bought and tried (which turned out to be too dark) was suggested to me again after I enquired about other options. Camilla shared her knowledge with me openly but when it came to my asking for more indepth information, I just didnt receive any replies. This concerned me as I needed guidance about colour as the one depicted on your website and the one she suggested turned very dark on my hair, as I mentioned. So in terms of customer service, although I am very sure that she is very busy with new customers, I wanted that further interaction with her and was disappointed I couldnt have it. I have now resorted to buying a stripping product and will now go into store and buy a medium brown, which is what I was trying to correspond with her about.”

“I’ve been using The Shade for around 6 months now. As a busy mum I don’t have time in my week to go to the hairdresser for 2+ hours and it wouldn’t be very relaxing with 2 children. I came across The Shade and uploaded a photo of my current hair my ideal hair colour and was emailed back with a colour recommendation. The application is simple and easy I can do it while my kids nap! I can get the hair salon look and feel without the time and cost. I love the auto-ship subscription because my next kit turns up at my door every 8 weeks meaning one less job for me to order it. “I loved how easy the process was and was impressed with there being no smell when colouring and my hair felt in great condition BUT the biggest disappointment was the colour result. Both colours I purchased from The Shade were very different to the picture on the website. This photo is of Medium golden blonde - it looks like I am a natural red head!! I am currently in the process of trying to dye it again with a store bought colour :( very disappointing and a waste of money”

“I was a bit skeptical when I first got on to this product but the service was amazing when I was trying to decide the colour & the instructions was very straight forward giving me the right mixture & all. I normally go to a hairdresser but she was going to be away so that’s when I thought I’d give this a go myself. I’m very impressed & happy with my outcome, was a bit tricky doing it myself due to arthritic hands & long hair but I got there and it left my hair so soft, I love their products. I will be ordering again”
