“Unfortunately, it gave me scalp irritation and rashes which had to be treated with medication. Attched photos which is after 3 days of steroid medication. I kept the colour only for 10 mins and had to wash off due to reaction. So I couldn't speak much of colour though. When i checked with the colour consultation i have mentioned about the scalp condition yet this was suggested to me.”

Hi Saroja, Sorry to hear that you have had a reaction to our products. We do strongly recommend that all new customers perform an Allergy Alert Test prior to applying to your hair. Full instructions for this test are found on the Instruction Card in the Colour Kit. We only hear of that reaction very rarely, but it generally is because of an allergy to an ingredient in our colour. Our colour formula has eliminated some of the key ingredients in permanent colour which can trigger allergic reactions (such as PPD) but there are lots of other ingredients in our colour and you may be allergic of any of them. Some of our colours have slightly different ingredients than others, so we have listed the ingredients for each colour separately, which you can find here: https://theshade.com.au/ingredients/ , together with the ingredients for all our other products including the developer which you mix with the colour. So the best thing to do is select a specific colour and check its ingredients. We advise that you do not use our products if you have had an allergic reaction to them and that you see a GP. It would be useful to know exactly what ingredient you are allergic too, and your doctor should be able to help with that, which will then help you avoid products with that ingredient in the future. “I can't recommend The Shade highly enough, I requested a colour consult via email and wothin an hour had recieved a detailed recommendation of the colours, how to prepare them etc. Mynorder arrivwd promptly and the starter kit meant I had everything I needed to get the job done including apron, gloves, bowl and colpuring brush. I am an amateur ar home haor dying and usually go to the salon, the process was simple and my hair looks amazing. Perfect colour, greys vanished and I'm getting lots of comments about how good it looks. Finally the customer service is prompt and friendly. I somehow accidentally paid for two subscriptions, contacted The Shade and they processed the refund immediately.”

“Impressed with the result! I throw a lot of warmth as my colour washes out and I use an all over semi on my balayage to tone it down every 4 weeks. After my hairdresser went on maternity leave I thought I would give The Shade a go. Pleasantly surprised with result and will continue using! Did exactly what I wanted. Easy to use, recommend getting bowl/brush and cape kit for first time. Super handy. Love all the extras of the barrier cream, colour remover wipes and shampoo/conditioner included as well. Great value for money. I used a semi permanent 7 level Ash. Could easily use a 6 level ash as well to add a bit more depth. Will be trying that next.”

“Loved the colour. Covered my few greys really well and my hair felt really soft after. Only thing I wish is that you can add as many additional colour tubes and developer as required as I have long thick hair the add on tube was still not enough and left me with a quarter of my hair undyed (I ordered more express). This made it on the more expensive side when i didn’t need any more of the shampoo/conditioner and oil ect. For this reason alone I will still be on the hunt for a more affordable (but still good quality) alternative .”

I had a difficulty ordering on the website as when I reordered I did not log on and when I went to pay it would not allow me to just enter my credit card info as a guest, requiring me to log on instead of just pay- not a huge deal but annoying if you just want to quickly purchase the product without logging in.”

“Love this dye! The application kit is so complete and of excellent quality. The products do not have the awful smell like other dyes I have bought in the past. It was easy to remove the dye from my skin with the wet towel provided. The shampoo left my hair soft. The colour was accurate. Great product and great price!”

“I brought the subscription so the application kit was fabulous, bowl, brush, clips cape all great. The products didn't have that horrid chemical smell the boxed colours have. No burning on my scalp at all and my hair felt soft and in great condition after my colour. I choose beigh blonde which is probably a bit darker that I wanted, but I will choose a lighter blonde text time. Overall fabulous product great price!!”
