“I think this is the first time in about 15 years that I’ve been able to go to bed after colouring my hair without frantically itching my scalp. 10 days from colouring and my roots are still holding onto the colour. Also a new one for me as the other colours tended to wash off my graves after a couple of washes. Definitely worth ordering from overseas to get the colour I need and a good night’s sleep. I don’t think I realised before how much I dreaded colouring my hair and having to deal with the irritation. Highly recommend for anyone who suffers after colouring.”

“The colour's been on my hair only for 3 weeks & the greys are starting to show up again. In fact, I only take 2 hairwashes per week. The previous brand that I was using stayed on for 2-3 months and is less pricier. Won't come back again for this brand.”

Hi Mithula, I'm sorry you didn't get the grey coverage you were looking for. I see that you have been using colour with our 20 vol developer. I would recommend our 27 vol developer for you to improve your colour absorption and coverage. In terms of grey coverage, as you may know, grey hair often has a different texture, because along with the loss of pigment there are also changes to the outer cuticle layer of greys which can make them resistant to colouring. The outer cuticle layer of greys is thicker and more tightly packed and it can be more difficult for the colour to be absorbed resulting in insufficient colour coverage. Our 27 vol developer is specifically formulated to cover resistant-greys. It is stronger than our standard 20 vol developer and it will lift the cuticle on your greys, allowing the colour to be successfully deposited within the hair. You can boost colour absorption over stubborn greys by adding some heat to your roots, using your hairdryer, for a minute or two while the colour is processing. Adding heat will soften and lift the outer cuticle of the hair, allowing better colour absorption. Pop a shower cap on after that for the remainder of the colour processing time, which will help retain some heat at the scalp/roots too. I hope this helps!

“I live Shade! Have been using this for about 4 years now. From the first application, my hair was far more glossy, and doesn't go dull between. I have a hairdresser who kindly let's me use my Shade product and I pay her for the application. I find it hard to apply anything on my head and she gets it right. So I'm very happy with that. I mix two colors, after consulting with Shade and verifying my choice with my hairdresser as my hair iscall- white but natural used to be auburn. I am a convert and the extent of service is terrific. *photo was spontaneous, no hairdo. Taken today - 1 week after my cut and colour.”

“I was a bit unsure at first only having salon dyed my hair since turning grey. I went with the recommendation for Palermo & Sicily and the result was quite stunning. I followed instructions that were easy than I thought. I have found the colour has faded somewhat since application; perhaps my greys might be resistant. “I couldn’t decide on a colour for months, unsure of what would suit me. I changed my mind last minute and chose golden brown. When the package arrived it had everything I needed and the instructions were clear and straight forward. The colour looked quite reddish when I was applying which made me a little nervous, but when it washed out the colour was beautiful and suited me very well. The shampoo and conditioner included were also really nice. I have recommended The Shade to everyone who likes to colour their hair and I’ll be buying it again when I want to colour my hair again. I chose the option that washes out the fastest incase I wasn’t a fan but I’ll choose the most permanent option next time. It was difficult but doable to colour my own hair and one pack was enough, but if anyone has longer hair two packs is definitely a good option for even coverage.”

“I cannot believe how much money I have saved since switching to colouring my hair with The Shade! My last hairdressers appointment cost over $500 and i was in there for over 7 hours! As a mum of 4 with a FIFO hubby, i dont have the time (or the money) to do this consistently so as a result, I kept putting off getting my hair done until it looked terrible. “Using The Shade's subscription service has been a game changer for me. I live in a small country town and the knowledge that I will have my colour of choice in my hot little hand on schedule is so fantastic I can't even put it into words. I have thick, shoulder length hair and there is plenty of colour in one pack for good coverage. I use a demi permanent and it is gentle on my hair and gives good grey coverage (of which I have many). The mix is gentle on my hair, and the Dark Ash Blonde colour I have chosen doesn't fade to orange like many other colours I have used, or leave a horrid build up on the ends of my hair. So, so happy. If you are a home "colourist" I cannot recommend the shade enough.”
