“Was very easy to apply. Loved using the salon application kit. However my colour has been disappointing. After only one wash my greys are quite visible and previous colour already coming through. Definitely not what you expect for a permanent colour. I left it in for the required time, so not sure what happened?? Was really hoping this was the easy solution to easy at him colouring.”

Hi Kirsty! So sorry to hear that you didn't get complete grey coverage. We notice that you used our 20 vol developer with your colour. We have recently added a new 27 vol developer which is specifically formulated to cover stubborn greys. It has a bit more lifting power and can lift the cuticle on greys to achieve permanent colour coverage. Greys often have textural changes along with the loss of pigmentation, and they are be a bit thicker, coarser and more wiry, which is due to changes in the texture. Their outer cuticle layer is more tightly packed and this can make it difficult for the colour to penetrate the hair. The 27 vol can lift the tougher cuticle on greys, allowing the colour to deposit within the hair. We are happy to send you a free replacement colour pack with the 27 vol if you are happy to try that - please just confirm if you are happy with the colour you tried otherwise or if you would like any changes to that and we can arrange that. “Great grey coverage. I did use the developer before hand. Clear instructions. Colour darker than thought - but then all home hair dyes seem to come out darker than the box. ( I used dark blonde but it’s more rich brown)Hair looks very healthy and colour is nice. Will use again.”

“The Shade has been the BEST discovery!! I'm a single mum so the costs and time of getting my hair coloured at the salon were impossible to justify. “The kit was great and delivery was quick. The process damaged my hair and the colour was uneven. I think the extra step of applying developer for the greys damaged some of my hair and that took too much colour, turning orange and failed to cover other greys at all. I wanted to return a tube of colour, a developer sachet, gloves and shampoo and conditioner sachets, all unopened but was denied the right. I won't be buying colour from here again.”

Hi Bronwen, I'm surprised about your comments as in the email you sent us, you said that you used our Trieste colour and found it to be a lovely colour. You didn't mention that you experienced any issues. In regard you returning some products, we explained to you via email that we can't offer a refund as we can't reuse returned consumable products. We wouldn't be able to guarantee the integrity of the products. I'm sure you wouldn't want to receive hair colour products that have been possibly sitting in someone's car for a couple of weeks. We guarantee the integrity of all products sent directly from our warehouse. We are more than happy to ship free replacement colour kits if the colour you have selected is not quite right for you. “A fabulous experience from website interaction, colourist consultations, receiving order, easy application and the colour results. I had used henna colouring within the last two months prior to this application, but as the henna process was too cumbersome I needed a better option and one that wasn’t filled with toxic chemicals. “Colour came quick, packaged very well with all the necessary tools and with easy to follow instructions. Coloured my hair last night with MONTECRISTO - LIGHT ASH BROWN and very happy with the end results. My greys are gone and my hair looks shiny. “I’m so glad I tried this. I was hesitant at first because my last few home dye jobs had left my hair a mess (brassy/greenish) and I thought this might be no different but how wrong I was! It was really pleasant and easy to apply and there wasn’t the usual strong chemical smell you get with other brands. It rinsed out easily and left my hair silky. And the best part was the colour! I used Imola 7.3 and it was exactly what I was hoping for, like a dark caramel blonde, and so rich and shiny as well.”

Hi Sarah, There are no red tones at all in our Ash colours. We did explain to you that reddish/brassy colour pigments are naturally present in the hair and they are the last pigments which are lifted out of the hair during lightening, because they have the largest colour molecules. The best approach to correct visible brassiness is to add some depth and cool tones. Adding a bit of depth means that the colour does not have to lift so much and that it is more likely to achieve an accurate, 'true' colour result. Cool tones will counter-act and neutralise unwanted warmth. Some people's hair also naturally throws more warmth than others. We recommended a medium cool brown colour for you, as you did report some brassy tones initially, but unfortunately you didn't try that colour. Different brands classify their colours differently, so you could be using a colour which is described as light brown now but which is closer to our medium brown - unless they are categorised using the exact same classification system, then they can't be compared because they don't necessarily have the same base colour level.
