About TurboTenant:

TurboTenant is the one-stop shop for independent landlords looking to simplify and grow their rental business.

For decades the rental process has been adversarial and overly complex. We change that by empowering independent landlords at every step of the rental process. TurboTenant is built by landlords, for landlords.

Unprofessional customer service. I sent in verification docs to prove ownership and they banned my account without even telling me why the document wasn't sufficient. If you are a larger real estate company, I'd be careful to not waste your time. It feels like if you're not a small owner, they could care less if you use the site. I'll continue to pay for Appfolio given this experience.

Thanks for your review, Anthony. It's true- we are geared toward independent landlords and we require specific documents for proof of ownership when using TurboTenant. The documents you provided to our security and fraud team were not sufficient to verify ownership, and therefore your account was suspended as part of our fraud prevention efforts. We intentionally do not disclose the reason for denying verification, as that would help fraudulent users get around our security protocols. We wish you the best of luck!

If I could give a Zero, I would. In a nutshell: TurboTenant has insultingly horrendous customer service. Up until today, I had what I thought to be an approved account - mind you, a tenant had already submitted their security deposit (~$6K), which as accepted into the account 2 weeks ago. When I signed on to simply check my account balance, I received a message that said "access denied" and an email to contact for additional support. Not thinking much of it, I emailed the provided account, and received an absurdly vague response saying " Unfortunately, we won't be able to activate your account to accept rent payments through TurboTenant." Again, the security deposit of roughly $6K was already in my account. Shockingly, I received no explanation of why my account was disactivated, or how, if possible, I would be receiving my security deposit back. As you could imagine, I was now rather surprised, considering I hadn't been notified by TurboTenant of any change to my account status (I doubt they would have said anything unless I contacted them first), so I emailed them again trying to get more information. Here was their response: "My name is XXXX and I am with the Payments Team here at TurboTenant. At this time, we conducted a review of the information you provided and denied your request to utilize rent payments through our platform. This decision is final and will not be reversed" Again, no reasoning behind the decision or acknowledgment of what happened. Had I not emailed them first to find out what was going on, I have no idea how I would have received information of my account status change. Moreso, they instead felt the need to preemptively tell me that this "decision" was "fina and will not be reversed"......Um ok? Thanks? 1. Where is this "decision" coming from? 2. When were you going to let me know? Only after I had emailed the basic support email contact? 3. Where is my security deposit? But instead of answering any of these seeminly basic questions of any decent company who provides customer service, thank you for letting me know that your decision was already final, as if that helps my situation whatsoever. TurboTenant has insultingly low disregard to basic customer service. A phone number to call or a more detailed explanation of where the security deposit is in real time would have been the bare minimum expected of basic business decency and service. All around just embarrassing stuff from this company.

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your experience with TurboTenant. Our payments team reviews payment accounts several times - from the time payments are requested, to when the first payment is submitted, and at various points throughout your rental cycle. We intentionally do not provide additional details to our fraud prevention methods. As mentioned in your conversations with Customer Support, an auto-generated email was sent to you upon denial of the payments request on May 12. Additionally, your tenant’s payment has been refunded and they should see that refund reflected on their bank statement within 5-10 business days. Thank you again for your review.

Bait and switch pricing; raised prices 70% in 1 year. I signed up because it was reasonably priced at $59/year in 2022. I moved all of my tenants to their payment system (not a small task) across 7 properties and this year, without them notifying me, they raised prices 70% to $99/year, all while adding ZERO functionality since I joined. This company is unethical and I'm moving my business to Stessa, who offers 4.81% APY bank accounts, a nearly identical rent collection system, and handles all of my expense tracking for $190/year. Avoid these guys. They are just another VC backed bait and switch product with zero ethics. They will lock you in at low, unsustainable prices and then, once you are in their ecosystem, they will raise their prices the minute they get pressure from their VC to start making money.

Thank you for your review, Carson. It's true, we did recently change the price of our Premium Plan subscription to $99/year. We've also bulked up the Perks of Premium to accompany this change. In the last year, we've added boost marketing, unlimited bank accounts, faster deposit payouts, live chat & phone support. You'll receive an email about your subscription renewal 30 days before your current subscription ends in June. We would love to hear more about your experience with TurboTenant, and your thoughts on the Premium Plan. You can send an email anytime to Support@TurboTenant.com.

Turbo Tenant is a scam. The Apartment we tried to rent was a scam. After we paid Turbo Tenant and we were approved for the apartment, they tried to get us to sign a lease agreeing that if they sold the property we would move out of a one year lease in only thirty days. Turbo Tenant 100% sided with the landlord and refused a refund. I was able, through my credit card company to get a 100% refund. Now we are trying to get them to refund my girlfriends $55.00. Evidently I was not the only one scammed by these fraudsters. If you call them out they will claim you have violated their terms of service and block you. How is that for customer service? You were warned!

Thank you for your review, Michael. As we mentioned in response to your last public review a couple of months ago- TurboTenanat is the third-party software that a landlord can utilize to market and manage their rental properties. We do not own or manage any of the properties listed on our site. It is not unlikely for a landlord to include provisions as to the potential of a home sale, and in the future I recommend you discuss the lease terms with the landlord before applying. We wish you the best in your home search.

Turbo Tenant does NOT VERIFY that a poser is in fact the OWNER or REGISTERED AGENT for a property to be listed. A scammer stole my pictures and all my information and claimed to be the owner, posting fraudulently on TURBO TENANT. TURBO TENANT postings go out to many other sites thus multiplying the scammer's reach. Within 24 hours, the fictious posting was taken down, but not before a person SHOWED UP ON MY TENANT'S DOOR WANTING TO SEE THE FAKE LISTED APARTMENT. The innocent victim immediately went to the local police and I reported to the FBI. BEWARE and STAY AWAY from TURBO TENANT!

Thank you for your review. I see our Customer Support Team has suspended access to the user's account, and have removed the fraudulent listings from our syndication feed. We appreciate you reporting this bad actor, and are continuously working to improve TurboTenant for landlords and renters.

RIP OFF. Firstly the landlord offered us a 12 month lease, with a small paragraph at the back of the lease saying that if the property sold we had 2 months to move out. What if the property sold on our first day? We would have to start looking for a new place before we finished unpacking, very stressful. Also after payment a blue box with white letters appears and promises a reply within three days. It took six. Requests for copies of the paperwork I paid for have been ignored. Try calling them, you get four options and all four tell you to go to the website. SCAM. You were warned!

Thank you for your review, Michael. I do see that Brian sent over 11 pages of screening results for you and your co-applicant. If you need your documents re-sent, please let Customer Support know. As was mentioned to you by one of our Customer Experience Managers, TurboTenanat is the third-party software that a landlord can utilize to market and manage their rental properties. We do not own or manage any of the properties listed on our site. While we encourage our landlords to engage in a high level of communication with applicants or prospective renters, ultimately it is up to the landlord to own and manage their communication with their renters. It is not unlikely for a landlord to include provisions as to the potential of a home sale, and in the future I recommend you discuss the lease terms with the landlord before applying. We wish you the best in your home search.

Hi Kelly - Thank you for reviewing TurboTenant. I took a look at your listing, and I'm seeing that you just recently started marketing in the last week. After our internal review of your listing, it can take up to 48 hours for all our 3rd party sites to grab updates from TurboTenant, which may be the reason for no activity right away. If you still aren't seeing leads in a day or so, I would recommend reaching out to our Support Team at Support@TurboTenant.com to investigate your listing further. Thank you again for your review!

Site is a scam. I applied to a property that was rented out weeks ago and they will not refund the application fee. They basically said it was not their problem and to contact the landlord, which I had already done.

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear you had a poor experience using TurboTenant. We wanted to clarify that we're a rental management software for independent landlords, not a landlord or a rental property manager. We recommend renters always check with the landlord before applying for a listing to make sure that the listing is still available.

Our account was locked for some unknown reason and we haven't had any help from turbotenant. There's no number to call so I guess they help you at their leisure. I'm sure your business model understands the urgency of speed to lead regarding retention of possible renters for us. Unfortunately, it seems the support team does not. I have sent our information to get into our account many times and it has been almost a week and I STILL don't have access.

Turbotenant is probably the worst app I’ve ever run across they took the $45 fee with no problem looking at a property rent for 1000 they give you the landlords number who never answers the phone they gave me somebody else’s name Julie for turbotenant she doesn’t return calls there’s no follow up by these people at all I got onto a police department and less time that is taking me to get into a $1000 apartment no follow up if you call the corporate number no follow up

The only problem is that it takes 5-6 days before I get my rent after my tenant made the payment. It should not take that long to transfer funds into my account once Turbo Tenant collects the money. I have only one tenant out of 19 tenants who pays by Turbo Tenant and I will not use it again unless they change their policy.

Hi there, Audrey, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. If you are ever having any difficulties navigating TurboTenant, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Customer Support Team at support@turbotenant.com or via chat within your landlord account. They are always happy to answer any questions you might have. I went ahead and took a look at your account and found that your properties are not being actively marketed online. When you're in your account, press the "Properties" button on the left side of the screen. This button will take you to your properties where you can turn marketing on or off. If you wish to market them at this time, hit the "Start Marketing Online" button found under the overview of each property. Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Best, Rachel and the TurboTenant Team

I have had over 30 leads, they all want more information and the available date. Most think it's a house for rent or an apartment. WTF I have sent messages to every lead, have had three contact me. I have tried to go in and up date the information on my had, with no luck signing in. I'm not sure if these leads are phoney, or what the hell is going on. I'm done with your site. do not contact me.

My home NorCal was listed in one city and then listed for far less in another city in SoCal. TurboTenant was notified and worked quickly to rectify the issue however, since it was listed in cross platforms the damage had already been done.

Hi there, John, I just took a look in our TurboTenant database and confirmed that one of our Customer Support teammates promptly responded to your request to remove the duplicate listing with the wrong rent price. They determined that the duplicate listing was not coming from our website, but still flagged it on Apartments.com. If you have any other questions or concerns that we could assist with, please reach out to our Customer Support Team at support@turbotenant.com. Best, Rachel and the TurboTenant Team
