“I wasn't supported properly at the time I had trouble to configure Volumio on my Rasp 3 + Hifiberry. At the end I was able by reading many forums to undestand what I was doing wrong. In the mean time, I discovered MoOde I have tested and found far better than any other software in temr of sound quality. So I utilise MoOde even If I stiil have a sd card configured with Volumio and this is a great software too, no doubt Best”

“When I connect my iPad to the raspberry, device list is empty. I also don't get a tidal installed. My profile is virtuoso.”

“The app doesn't perform well at all on my Minidsp SHD. It takes ages to load although I leave the SHD on all the time. It often freezes of disconnects so I can't change the song (it is connect via Ethernet so unlikely to be wifi issues). And the volume control is awful, only going up in 10% increments using the rocker or 5% on my phone UI is impossible to control well. It's either too loud or too quiet. I love the concept and what they're trying to do but it needs to solve the basic usability tests so as not to frustrate users.”

“Volumio is a very ambitious project which brings control of your digital music entertainment collection and streaming services to one place. During my testing I found it mostly functional and very intuitive but for me it fell short in performance and reliability. These were the deal breakers for me. The GUI's on devices both mobile and web not responding or updating to the current playing track. (two instances showing different information or not responding) Improper songs played when selecting a song, seems to randomly choose a different track.”

“Für deutschland keine Amazon Alexa Unterstüzung. Youtube ist nicht nativ verfügbar. Das muss man sich per Hand installieren. Aber dann spielt er die Lieder nicht zuende. Das funktioniert dann wiederum nur wenn man sich die Version 3 als Beta zieht. So hatte ich mir das nicht vorgestellt. Ich bin ein Linux Admin, für mich war das nicht so ein großes Problem. Aber es gibt auch andere User.”

“Chaotic first experience. Plugins not condoned by you and no support in case it affects the app, not tested either because two didn’t work and prevented the correct use of the app, When asking for assistance for installing the app and solving the issues, I was proposed to pay for additional support. NAS shares are not recognized when scanning for available ones. Obliged to mount the share manually. Generic error when an issue with mounting them arises not helping to understand what went wrong. Support by non native English speaker making the email communication very tedious.”

“Il programma è valido e la qualità audio è ottima. Il collegamento con Qobuz lo rende quasi perfetto. Ma putroppo ho riscontrato che ha notevole difficoltà a caricare librerie musicali molto grandi. Ne carica solo una piccolissima parte. Pertanto con estremo rammarico mi rivolgerò altrove!”

“The purchasing of the bassfly uhat was easy, no human involved. But that is why give this rating the suppport afterwards is non-existing. I requested help as I cannot get portions of the bassfly to work. Ticket raised and 5 days later still waiting. I am glad I did not buy anything more expensive, the bassfly is going to end in the trash as I have confidence in getting to work or to get support.”

“Volumio installation and starting the raspi with no problems. But I tried to run it with an old raspi and a wolfson audio card and the sound failed to play, only hashed play of files. Sorry I de-installed volumio. May be I give Volumio later a try with a newer raspi.”

“I use Volumio mainly to play my local files, stored on a USB stick, and I use my USB DAC. It reproduces everything I throw at it, from mp3 to DSD256 files, with the highest quality of reproduction possible, in this department 5 Stars. I am running it on an Asus Tinkerboard. What really annoys me with Volumio is that most of the times it is not reachable on the local network, on the fixed IP address I have reserved to it (192.168.2.98), both by using a browser, or the Volumio App on Android. I am always forced to use MyVolumio and access my Volumio Box from an external webserver... This is stupid. Moreover as of today also this route does not work anymore, my Volumio box does not connect to the network altogether. I will be forced to download it again and to flash again the SD card (I have done it 5 times in year so far), because of course also the fallback hotspot that should start when it is not capable to connect to a network, is not starting. So I am left without control over the volumio box. All my respect for the Volumio Team, but please get your act together. Many times this year I have I have opted for popping in a CD instead of playing the corresponding files from Volumio, because I could not access it in a timely fashion (or like today, that I completely lost it).”

“Android application not stable on Huawei p30 pro”

“It was very slow on a Raspberry Pi 3-B. The network connection between a browser and Volumio would constantly lock up. Volumio would freeze and not respond to anything from the touchscreen. My 7” Raspberry Pi touchscreen would turn off and not come back up without a restart. Too finicky to use with any reliability or enjoyment.”

“Both web apis are partly broken(socket & rest), which greatly affects the ability of building your own client to control volumio device. Does not work with Bluetooth low energy remote controller(consumer control usage table). Besides the drawbacks mentioned above, i do think it's great product overall”

“Too many changes”

“I had to move on from Volumio as I could not get the application to consistently work with my system. I submitted several emails to the team and Michelangelo himself responded apologizing for the issues I was experiencing with the drop out of my hard drive / library and the player not able to play anything and promised me that a future version would address my concerns. I have since loaded MOode and all is working great. I will continue to stay connected to your team and product as well and I did donate $$ prior to experiencing these issues. It is too bad as the Volumio UI appears to be top notch and worth the price of admission to My Volumio”

“I am using Es9038Q2M DAC, however, there no driver for Es9038Q2M. Finally I use HiFiberry DAC driver, but the 5 second of beginning of the song will not played.”

“I use RPI 4 and Allo Boss DAC. The sound is good. However, when I start playing, the track starts over several times and also jumps to the next track. Very annoying and I’m considering changing to some other system.”
