“Since Version 3 almost all features for using GPIO and Bluetooth stream are gone and I’d have to pay 6£ per month to use them. I used Volumio on my Self built music box, but since that, I’m looking for alternatives. Dont get me wrong: I’d be happy to pay once for a software that’s good, but I wont pay 72£ a year just to use the same options as in Version 2.x”

“I love the volumio player, it is very convenient and intuitively simple, very pleasant sound, I use it on a computer with DAC IFI and a MARANTZ amplifier. The player is constantly updated, it supports a lot of formats except iso unfortunately, and in the free version it does not play CDs. Many thanks to the developers! Good luck and health! “Volumio 2 was good. Volumio 3 is good with virtually nothing renewed, at least nothing directly noticeable compared to 2, a few features that were deducted from 2 in the free version. I am using 3 and my attached CD-player became useless junk after the upgrade but I did this upgrade with the sole reason that I am waiting if Deezer is supported with a plugin. If that would never happen I probably switch back to 2. I also think the subscription plan is over the top. It is for the real fans, just like e.g. Plex. I do not mind to support the development of using the features (remember there is no service) but I think covering the speed of progress that could also be done with say 3 euro's instead of 5 per month.”

“Love Volumio 3. I mostly use it to output FLAC files to my USB DAC. Interface works extremely well and the sound quality is excellent. I also stream Pandora and the plugin works very well. Amazing that there is such a great product available for free! I also have a Volumo Primo and the audio output was a huge improvement over sending the files to an older Stream Magic 6 unit.”

“The sound quality is good with a Raspberry Pi and an Audiophonics DAC and a Galaxy S9 phone but the I use it to play TIDAL and the Volumio "skin" is terribly unfriendly and clunky and frustrating. I just want the TIDAL "skin" which is MUCH easier to use. As soon as I can I will try something other than Volumio.”
