App slow to respond, but good customer service and great sound.

Works okay as a headless raspberry pi. But much is still to be desired. I miss the ability to use my TV as user interface. There is a Volumio plugin that enables displaying a user interface on an external monitor (eg. TV), but it doesn't enable control from the TVs remote (HDMI-CEC). And this plugin doesn't work with my raspberry pi 3b+ either. Therefore I have changed back to using Kodi (OSMC). Kodi is not perfect, but Kodi is better when the TV and Stereo set is placed close to each other. Volumio is okay'ish and has potential to be great.. But as it is now it feels like a halfbaked product.. (dec 2020).

Full version is expensive. Apps for IOS and Android too. Not yet tried.

Navigating my NAS library both within the app as well as the browser does not work as it should. Very often I experience delays and freezes. With the Android app not having been updated for more than two years (last time in July 2018) I have the impression efforts to improve the project have been reduced significantly.

It works nice in general, I am happy, but I concentrate on a few drawbacks: 1. it is extremely difficult to connect to Volumio via browser, when I use 3 different WiFi at different locations. Volumio does not remember passwords. Sometimes it does not connect to any of them. In such case Volumio should create hotspot (by default it creates hotspot only once, in the beginning. It should create ALWAYS when it fails to connect to known WiFi - I had to turn on such behaviour). 2. Settings page is organized by chaos:-) 3. Normal view of a record / CD should be a list of, say, 12 songs, not just one which is reproduced. It took me about 5 minutes to find out how to get such view.

Generally, the app is user friendly and pretty, but, not stable enough to bit other similar app in market. I experienced system crush with my external HDD(2TB)audio, and Tidal as well. At first, I disconnected the external HDD and reboot, but, the certain file were still not readable, I found other streamer to plugged the same external HDD, it works perfect, and in other device is working too... eventually, I need to disconnect all cables and reset to factory couple times, till the system can read the external HDD. All my external HDD cover art were shown on other device but not with the Volumio, don’t know how to make it work and finding a solution in the supporting forums like needle in a Haystack, may be I not familiar with those technical terms is other reasons. Last but not least, that will be nice if the power off is Real power off instead of just shut down the system and needs to physically off the hardware again. In conclusion, in terms of price strategy were valued for money to build a streaming device in the total cost with Pi and Volumio! But, if you guys wants to gaining more user in monthly installation in future, please allow me address couple of things: 1. The support link needs to be restructured to be more direct instead of tones of solutions from forum is a must! 2. Free version is good, but, if for the advance user, the differential of each grade of app is bit too confusing, felts not much benefit or fancy enough to pay extra to be a Super Star plan ( like Roon and Audirvana they shown signal path, and MQA supported equipment, which is pointless to myself but tones of pp like it, make pp more engaged and more felt they money are well spend in those sky high pricing) 3. Be more audiophile, now everyone is enjoying streaming service, we all looking for a product aim higher. Didn’t mean to spend $30 to act like a pro and be offensive, but, truly support the way you work, just like to see your product can be more influential in Hifi markets! You could still have a reasonable version for a budget user like me, but, that’s no harm to be more fancy and make advance user felt they were a pro to well spend they money. Wish you guys have all the success in future!! Good job!!

decent app except that it is at times, slow, buggy and freezes up frequently. All these problems are exhibited in both my phone and my tablet. It seriously needs refinement.

Volumio works fine. Some instances where I had to reboot the volumio because I couldn’t access it Then, I‘ld like to know whether there is something like tidal connect. i.e. my tidal (!) App on the iPhone re-directs the stream directly from tidal to volumio to yield full bitrate. Now it’s only 44khz airplay limited. And i‘ld like to use today’s native app

Also noch jede Menge software probleme, leider !!

Sounds good and the price is right but using a browser to connect is slow, buggy and freezes often. Using the Android app on my phone is worse.

I need to study Volumio more yet, to know al its capabilities, but for now i noticed that volumio does not appear in my cast devices list, like my chromecast does. Strange, since with a friend of mine Volumio does appear in the network, but not here. Because of that 'problem' 3 starts for now, i can adjust the rating later when a solution is found. Sound needs to be checked still, connecting to my dCS dac, so an update will follow

Android often needs to be rebooted, server needs rebooting at least once per day too due to software volume not working or it simply being unable to load content and this is on a RPI 4 2G. Also most of the time the app is slow to respond, but when it's not it's quite fast.

good interface, easy to use .. please support me, I submitted a ticket some time ago and no response .. All Boss card does not work with equalizer

I appreciate the switchable persistent queue. But the artwork display is the worst of any player. And how long does it take to work out a p/l ordering option for Qobuz like BubbleUPnP free?

Great potential, loved functionality but problems developed with my Primo. Was worried being in the US but have learned that Volumio has customer service at their core. Worked through a workable outcome.

L'interfaccia a Qobuz non è ancora troppo spartana: le tre stelle sono dovute essenzialmente a questo, non certo alla qualità generale di Volumio, che mi pare molto buona.

Generally a pretty good bit of software, but room for improvement in the interface. a) Navigating a big album/artist collection is tedious. An A-Z jump menu would make it so much easier. b) An option to filter out common prefixes such as "the" when sorting. So "The Beatles" would be sorted under "B", not under "T". Other applications have provided both of these for years, yet volumio is still missing them. I would give one extra star in the review for each of the above.

The product itself is intuitive, easy to use and easy to install. It has generally great features and sound quality. However, a few very important caveats: 1. The support for DSD playback on USB DACs is somewhat spotty and tied directly to the Linux kernel. Some method and/or documentation for adding DAC information would be VERY helpful. Many newer DACs simply won't play DSD files without translation to PCM (and I don't mean DoP). 2. Occasionally the software seems to get confused and is unable to locate the music library. Rebooting often resolves these problems. 3. The Android app is somewhat unstable. Often can't find the device and when you switch apps, it seems to lose communication with the Volumio device at which point I have to close the app and re-open it.

I think the operation of Volumio takes a bit of getting used to. Unfortunately, no crossfader transitions are possible with MP3 playback. Everything in the file archive must be in the root folder, subfolders are ignored. You are on the right way, but have a look at Poweramp under Android, if it would work under Linux with Internet radio, I would get 5 stars.
