“I think it's bad that they removed the GPIO Control plugin!!!”

“Volumio is a great sound quality player and offers many DAC options and configurable settings. I used it with Raspberry Pi and iOS platforms. The interface is brilliant, instinctive and the look-and-feel makes this product a serious competitor for any other player in the market. Unfortunately, I'm sometimes facing some issues with the WiFi connection to network (need to reboot hardware) and this with many Raspberry Pi boards tried. Also, I need to erase and flash my SD card again at least one time every 3-4 months (16Go Classe-10 preferred) without any reason and even by proceeding every time with a proper shutdown sequence. What could be improved on RPi are the reliability/startup/self-repairing methods and perhaps to provide more compatibility with different hardware, especially TFT displays where it becomes a nightmare configuring the touchscreen except for the 7" TFT official. Nevertheless, I used it for many years and can't find any equivalent in the segment. Only Rune Audio was quite close from Volumio and seemed more reliable but unfortunately discarded and not maintained.”

“Volumio 2x had much better sound quality. Developers refuse to acknowledge that fact that Volumio 3x was a step down in the SQ department. Its open source software so they can do what they want, but with the new update they also jacked up the price of My Volumio to $70 a year. Complained in the forum and they cut out my tongue. Left a sour taste on my mouth.”

“works ok except for the most important feature for me- TIDAL INTEGRATION, which brings me pretty close to my breaking point where i say "to hell with this" and move on to a more stable environment. how hard can it be to sync two apps together every few seconds??? every other vender is doing so this so easily, as it should be!”

“Constant sound crackling with Allo Digione & RPi 4 (4Gb) (No matter hi-res or standard resolution). Song indexing still too slow. From time to time loses entire library of my NAS. After listening fav.radio stations freezes over and over.Restart needed. Could you please fix that?”

“4.5 Stars. Quick responsive system on my Volumio Primo. The only caveat is that sometimes the iPad application freezes and you have to restart volumio on the iPad (hence 1/2 star is missing). My recommendation to the iPad programme developer is that the back button should always be visible in the menu to support easier browsing through larger libraries. Sayin that I like Volumio and Primo experience that makes listening to the music enjoyable.”

“Reliability with the current version is very very poor. Pre v3, things worked well enough (Although seeking past what is buffered does not work). But v3 is very broken. Specifically, it crashes often requiring a restart & loses connection to Tidal Connect while you are playing. I look forward to the issues with v3 being resolved, as Volumio is brilliant, when it is working.”

“I've been using the free version for two weeks now on a Pi2B with HifiBerry DAC+ with no issues. My favorite radio station .113FM Hits played for a few days and then suddenly it wouldn't no more. Consistency is the name of the game Volumio, fix this or be prepared to lose potential upgraders.”
