Just purchased 400 quids worth of gift cards by mistake from WH Smith only to find out when I got home that they're egift cards and non returnable. I thought I was buying normal debit card but plastic free version. I'd never heard of egift cards before. If I had known you have to set up an online account then I wouldn't have chosen and purchased these cards. It wouldn't have taken much to tell me I was buying an electronic gift card and need to open an online account. I'm not young and dont fully understand computers and modern tech. How can I give these out to the older folk who dont know how set up accounts to use them ? Maybe the staff think everyone knew about these things and feel there is no need to tell or remind the older people exactly what they're buying. I feel a little ripped off to be honest. E gift cards have ruined Christmas. My fault for not being up-to-date with these things. The staff were polite and happy so no issues there.

Still waiting for my order and no update. No phone contact available just directed to web chat or email. No satisfactory contact with web chat. Told to wait another 5-7 working days. Will request refund. Wont be shopping again with this retailer.

Tried for over 1 hour to speak to someone to order a couple of items. The same with most company's they say they are busy and someone should be with me soon. 2 hours later still can't get a answer, waste of time. Won't try to order from them again.

Placed an online order for 5 items on 04/12/19 for store collection. Thought this would be more reliable than delivery.. Had an email on 09/12/19 staying 4 items were ready for collection, great! Went into store to collect on my lunch break, a member of staff rang upstairs for someone to bring down my order... 10 mins later still nothing... 20 mins later they say they can’t find my order and a staff member offers to walk me around the store and pick out the items I ordered instead. 5 mins later my package is finally found, a bit dusty, but I really didn’t care at the is point. 15 days after my original order date I’m wondering why I haven’t received my 5th item (the most important) I call the number recommended, 20 mins later on hold I hang up as I have to get back to work, ring again.. 25 mins on hold and have to hang up again, next day try again, finally get answered 21 mins in. On querying my final item, I get told it’s out of stock at the publisher and they don’t know when it will be back in stock yet! No e-mail telling me this, no apology from the customer service number I rang, I just have to wait apparently, very poor. The only good thing about this ordeal (which gave the 2nd star) was the customer service in WHSmith Salisbury, all staff I dealt with were polite, apologetic and clearly concerned about how long I was waiting in store. A simple email apologising would have been enough, I really didn’t expect this from WHSmith of all places, I ordered the product here as I thought i wouldn’t have to worry. I wish I’d read the reviews as well

How does WHSmith survive, books so overpriced but without the pleasure of shopping in a well laid out store like it's main high street competitor.

Not enough staff around to help you when you need it, plus they are a little bit too pricey

The books took a very long time to arrive, near 2 weeks,One was okay but the other was greatly overpriced at£26 for a small paperback, publish date 1999 that was sloppy in format,I would have thought £6 max was nearer the right price. The problem was trying to contact whsmith to return the book. After sending them an email explaining and sending the book back i heard nothing from whsmith at all. After a week i emailed them again with no response at all,2 more emails and 2 phone calls and another week later i finally got to speak to a young lady who said they had not managed to read all the emails due to sales pressure....that is after a week and a half. She did not have the book nor know why it had not been marked as returned either. She did refund though on the book in question...over 2 and a half weeks after i requested it.Customer service was dreadful, but I did get refunded eventually.

Initially couldn't pay for order online. Customer service was only open Mon to Fri 9 to 5 despite website being open 24/7 so couldn't finalise order. Was told to reorder on different device using different search engine another day wasted. Eventually ordered but took 4 days to arrive not 2/3 days as promised. Pretty awful definitely won't use website again. Local shop is ok though.

I ordered a book online for in store collection. I was told that it would take 5-7 working days and after 2 weeks I received an email saying my order would be with me shortly and they would keep me posted. Three weeks later after I had not heard anything I called in store to check if it had arrived. My book had finally arrived but wasn't what I ordered. I had ordered a hardback and the paperback version was what was delivered.

This book is about a female dog cllead Bonnie who goes on an adventure. She wins a rosette from the Mayor saying: BEST IN SHOW'. What I really like about this book is that it is my type(adventurous). This story made me believe in myself. I was whizzing through the book to see what it would end like. My favorite character would be Bonnie because she is very brave, clever, she is confident with whatever she's doing and is always impressive. She has her head is up high, just like proud dog.
