A compelling read This book [A Ration Book Daughter by Jean Fullerton] was very richly textured, the research was very meticulous [which was done perfectly] and made it completely immersive, with the lightest of humour in places to lighten the mood. I feel like when I read this the author had captured the atmosphere, situations and emotions as well as any difficulties that anyone would have during wartime. I didn't think that this book would make me emotional but it did, it got a few tears from me throughout. which just made this charming and full of detail book that much more amazing. this book was not only a real page-turner with larger-than-life characters it was very convincing with the period detail [I mentioned it at the top] the research had to be very meticulous but I also thought how she could have been influenced through her own background, so if she decided to include some of those stories it just fit in so perfectly you'd have no idea.

wow just wow this book had me entranced by the story i find it very hard to get into books but i honestly couldn’t put it down the story is beautiful and i’m in love with Cathy’ character and the motherly love she has towards peter i was very much invested in the story between Archie Mcintosh and Cathy and i think the way it was written is amazing definitely worth the read it has many twist and i like how it shows the lifestyle during the war and the blitz it really portrays it well and it really helps to imagine what life would be like back and in the war so i would definitely recommend if you’re interested in that era it was written with care and you could see the author put a lot of effort into portraying her characters and the lifestyle they live in it has a way of pulling you into Cathy’ world and making you feel like you are going along on the journey with her would absolutely recommend

When I saw this book, I was shocked as it is very popular on BookTok and BookTube and I instantly opened the pdf. I was pleasantly surprised, the opening line is probably one of the best I've read, it made me instantly curious and excited for what was to happen next. I also enjoyed the fact we were shown Jude and her sister's normal lives before the murder. I had seen Chapter 1 a lot on BookTok and I surprisingly like what Holly Black had done. It really shows how different their lives had gotten in the matter of a few hours and shows the real perspective of a kid who's been taken to a whole different world. At this point, I couldn't tell if I was meant to like Madoc, he murdered their parents but he also took great care of them and treats them like his own. I especially liked the bit where he gave Jude his own ruby pen as one of the students stole hers. During the ball/party/whatever it was scene, I got a lot of Bridgerton vibes and I really liked Jude during the school scene with Cardan, she's such a baddie. I would love to read the rest of this book.

I loved this book, it was a great read! it made me cry and laugh all in one. hard-hitting, warm, and funny book pulsated with truth and experience. It was an extremely powerful story that made me think of the wonders of the world. It was such a positive and exciting story about hope in the world. The main character goes to reclaim the stigmas against cancer and it is a very emotional piece of work. My eyes filled up throughout reading this story. Although this story is a work of fiction featuring Keira's breast cancer, author Josie Lloyd based this story on her own personal experiences with breast cancer. This novel takes readers through all the doctors and hospital appointments. The Cancer Ladies Running Club is extremely well written and I would definitely recommend it to everyone who is looking for a new book to try. There are some very in depth hospital scenes so i would be careful if your are squeamish.

I was immediately fascinated when the book author was represented as high up of a crime thriller author as Ruth Ware. I was very keen to get my hands on the first few chapters after reading the blurb because it was so engaging and matter of fact. It drew the reader in very quickly, as did the front cover. Without reading the blurb I wouldn't recognise it as a thriller because "French girl" doesn't scream sinister but after the first few paragraphs it explains about how the French girl was dead in a well and it seems as if there are only 6 suspects involved. It became a little bit slow as it tried to get all characters involved in a phone chain but I think given the right mood I would get into this book instantly but at the same time it has the potential to be one of the books I can both be enthralled by but also not mind taking breaks in between reading.

This was an amazing story, set in the Elizabethan times and so good at transporting you there that you almost feel lost in the world that the author creates. The character are all well written which just helps with the world and story building. From the off, you are thrown into a world of peril; executions, torture, accusations. You can almost feel the fear that would have been present at the time. You are pulled along on an amazing journey along with the main characters who you grow to care so much for, all through Europe on a life-or-death escapade. My only difficulty with this book came at the very start, the first few pages felt to be an author proving how verbose he was but this soon settled into a easier read. I struggled for a while, re-reading these passages, if you have this same problem, please persevere because the outcome is worth it. Even though I didn't read any of the other books in the series, this book has no trouble introducing the characters, so I really feel that I haven't missed out by missing the others. The Heretic's Mark is so good that I feel the need to go back and read the others. I definitely recommend this for any and all, especially those with any love of historic setting texts.

Loved it, The main character Jude gives someone for the younger readers to look up to as she shows that not only can girls still be feminine while being strong but is also human and shows weakness. The way the family isn't fully related creates a realistic depiction of some families which aren't all related by blood but by heart. The romance is not overwhelming and the hate between the two helps to further the plot through out the book. I ended up spending just a few days reading this book and instantly ordered the sequel. It's a gripping tale of betrayal, political struggles and the family dynamics which all intertwine together to help build up Jude while also spending time with side characters and allowing us to develop emotional attachments to them. You can tell who to hate but later can sympathise with them and watch as they change, becoming better people as the series go on.

This book was so amazing, the way it was written completely swept me off my feet. The writing style was great, it was easy to read and the vocabulary is also quite easy. I read the book in my native language (Dutch) and I remember the plot was so beautiful. The characters are well written, and I love how the story goes back between the past and the present. The story is told from the main character, Nuri, who tells the story of his life in Aleppo, the war, fleeing the city, and his and his wife's new life in England. The struggles of PTSD are described in a very emotional way, as well as dealing with the uncertainty of being a refugee. I totally recommend reading this book, even people who find it hard to get through a book, as it doesn't have that many pages, has an easy flow and incorporates a beautiful and heartfelt story.

The wording in this book it written perfectly, Although it was hard to get my head round at first the character tension because Carden and Jude was so riveting, it was a defininate page turner and I really like Jude and even though Carden is portrayed as cruel, heartless and mean you can tell he has a soft spot for Jude. I love Jude and her sisters as well and how the story started of how they got into the faerie land and how much heartbreak they had to of gone to to have there whole lives flipped upside down and being taken into a world where the are being maken fun of for being different. The fear of the court as well is really interesting I thought, the whole idea of people being more superior and ruling ect is really good. I also really enjoyed reading the description of all the characters I thought the detail put into that was amazing and I really thoroughly enjoyed this book!
