I was shopping in WOB since 2021 and spent hundreds of pounds on books last year, however, not anymore. Wob made mistakes previously, but the last order is a mess. I've bought 10 books and two of them were not what I have ordered. One of them is with sentences crossed out and in general, is very messy and doesn't look in a good condition, however, wob team was super sweet and despatched me a different book in the same price range. The second book is a different story. I paid for a book because I needed a particular edition for university, WOB sent me some extremely old edition from 1969 and now when I want to return that book I have to pay for postage myself or take a 30% refund. It is unfair and as someone already wrote in reviews here, it definitely goes against consumer rights. I don't need that book. Moreover, this is what wob customer service says: “All of our products are listed by their ISBN/EAN numbers. Sometimes, these do not always identify changes to the book's edition. Our database automatically provides the information and photos of the items on our website based on these numbers. On some occasions, this means that the information and photo may be of a different edition. All our listings state that the item picture is for illustrative purposes only, actual binding, cover or edition may vary.” Basically, you can never know what you’re actually buying and as their database makes mistakes and shows wrong information about the books, YOU will need to pay for that, because they're just acting like it's not their fault. Their system doesn't work. It was written 2003 edition on the listing and I have received 1969. There’s a massive amount of time between these two editions…still need to buy a required edition for the university, but definitely not from WOB. I will be more careful from now on and will choose a different seller. As I said, I was buying from them since 2021 so people be careful because if it didn't happen to you yet, it will and they will not care about you, only reply to all emails by that one template. Disappointed.

I have had more than terrible service with WOB. I ordered two books in nov and they were never delivered. I complained and was told there was no way to track this order. suddenly two days ago I received an empty bag dated 25 nov and I complained again. no one has contacted me. I will NEVER NEVER ORDER ANOTHER BOOK FROM wob AND WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS TO NEVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN. THANK YOU PATTY LURIE

Terrible service. Way too long to process orders. If they can even manage to do that. Communication is utter garbage. Dreadful company

Purchased a book from wob about a month ago - huge mistake! I received a completely different book to the one I ordered. I contacted them about it and they said I could either get a 30% refund or pay for it to be returned and maybe get a full refund. Not only does this go against consumer rights, but when I pointed this out to them, they continued to insist this is their policy. Will likely now have to go through a small claims court to get a refund, as I have no doubt that if I send the book back to them I'll only receive 30% of the value back. Avoid this company!

I shall try to put this into perspective. I have recently purchased a total of 11 books from WOB over a 3 week period. 10 from an auction site and the other from their own website. 7 out of the 11 arrived as described. 1 was returned after photos sent and WOB agreed to refund cost and postage. Initially WOB stated that they had not received the book back. I forwarded them the postal receipt and details of the Royal mail online delivery return date. I got no reply from WOB.The 'hero' team dealt with my issue. It took 7 emails most of which were ignored and not responded to, before I got a partial refund. The agreed postal costs were not reimbursed despite their agreement to do so after viewing the photos I sent. I now surrender. Their customer care leaves a great deal to be desired . They rarely respond to emails and it requires a great deal of perseverance to even get a partial refund if your book is not as described. Please be mindful of the effort required to get any response from the 'customer support hero' team Bad show overall.

The book I ordered for my grandson never arrived. WoB have not responded to any of my complaints. I am not prepared to make an expensive phone call to sort out their error. Assume I have lost my money, although I would rather have the book.

Book did not arrive and robot help kept stalling with excuses. After 3 weeks and repeated attempts, got a message from a human telling me the book had been delivered and I should check with the Post Office and neighbours. Giving up on WoB after my first try.

Music Books With Missing CDs. WoBs Lacking Integrity. Sadly I can no longer make WOB my first port of call for books and CDs. In fact they are now my LAST port of call. However much they trumpet their green credentials - They are breaking Retail law because they can't be bothered to list items properly. And I can't be bothered with them either. If you order a music-tutor book where a CD is an integral part of the tutor - with a great big image of a great big dirty-great CD on the front cover - and a wallet attached to the inside back cover with a great big plastic wallet which should contain a great big dirty-great CD on the inside of the back cover.... How come it arrives without the CD? This is the second time it's occurred and WoB don't give a tinker's cuss - they say they can't be expected to check for it. YES YOU CAN! If it shows a dirty great big CD on the cover and a wallet on the inside back cover - it comes with a Dirty Great CD WoBs. When it's initially listed on your system - what does it take to mention with/without CD? That's all it takes. (And very few will buy the book btw). You dishonestly send out books without the CD knowing that your punters can't be bothered to send it back. It's called inertia - and you've probably sold many books under this 'inertia' process. What does it take WoBs? It takes integrity, that's what. When you advertise a book with a CD - as many of your listings do - then you are breaking Retail Law by not shipping it with the CD. Because it is false display - and you are breaking the law. IT'S NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. GET IT? ADIEU Postscript: they say: "Please contact wob.com and our team will be able to support. Thank you." But this is complete balderdash. I've already contacted you over an earlier same incident: Alex R said: "Unfortunately we cannot guarantee if this comes with the CD as this is pre owned." So what, tell me, is the point in contacting trustpilot-wob.com? You just aim to mollify those who protest loudly? Yes. I think so. You've cooked your goose, WoB - it's all green washing. Your business model is just dishonest - J'accuse. Put a flag on your listings if it doesn't - or does - come with its CD. Get your IT people to put a flag menu in your relational database - and USE IT, when you initially list the item. But stop your dishonest reliance on bad inertia selling. So as I said before. ADIEU Date of experience: 24 September 2022 Edit Reply from Wob 6 hours ago Thank you for your review and feedback regarding your experience. We're really sorry to hear your book arrived without the CD as expected. Please contact trustpilot@wob.com and our team will be able to support. Thank you

My first time using World of Books after a recommendation. It was bought for a book group discussion.Book arrived quickly but certainly NOT “good condition” as advertised. Pages yellowing, cover damaged in places. The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. Pages 81-112 shorter than the other pages! I’m very disappointed with quality. All our books at home are in “perfect” condition:the spine, cover and pages. I liked idea of recycling books rather than buying new but I’ll stick to charity bought ones or new.

Book had not arrived after 14 days. Contacted WOB. They stated book had been delivered by royal mail. I replied that it had not. WOB response from a "customer service hero" was sort it out yourself as WOB not interested! NOT the best customer service hero response ever. Will not use or recommend this disgraceful shower.!

Reading the reviews on Trustpilot, Yelp, and on Google reviews, it seems that there is a consistent problem of how they advertise used books. I'm one of those people who are affected by this and I'd love to share my experience on it. "Book Description: The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged. Book Condition: Very Good" That was what was described. I've uploaded pictures on Google and Yelp reviews if anyone is interested to see the condition of this book. You can search this business on Yelp and from there you'll have the info to look it up on Google reviews as I won't type out the address of the warehouse out. I have never made a review on here before but this was just ridiculous so I'd have to share. I would not consider this to be in excellent condition due to all the overall condition of it. There is writing in the book, there are a bunch of underlining both in pen and pencil, and even doodles. I bought this online off AbeBooks so I'd have to spend money to ship it back due it not being what was described. I find it absurd how I have to waste my time and money to send it back when it was not as advertised. So I'm hoping to receive a full refund and be reimbursed for the return costs, until then this review is staying up and should serve as a warning to others to see what they are getting into

Ordered a book ‘Sew’ by Cath Kidson via EBay. The book should have come with a pattern and material. It came with neither. The book was also in very poor condition. I could not trace my Order No either through the company or eBay so cannot return. Very dissatisfied.

I ordered A little life by Hanya yanagiha in very good condition.when the book finally arrived I was so disgusted by the condition of the book 🤢 it was so gross looking I actually thought about just trashing it.. I instead took some disinfecting wipes and starting trying to clean the book trying to save it, but I will most likely donate the book and buy a brand new copy else where . This was my first and last time buying a book from here.. Disgusting!
