“Booked in for a 'FREE' custom fitting.
A few days before the fitting I got a call from someone at American Golf in Airth asking what my fitting was for. I said I have a relatively new driver, but unsure of what flex and length etc I'd be best suited for. Ive never had a fitting before. So, for that fitting i'm wanting fit for a new shaft that I'll buy from them for my driver. Their attitude changed completely and said they wouldn't just SELL me a shaft. Well, I said I'll just take my 'FREE' fitting then to work out what shaft I need. They told me no they wouldn't do that, because I'm not buying anything! (I should have read the reviews before booking as other people have experienced the same thing. One person actually said that in the middle of the fitting he told them he might not buy anything and the swiftly stopped the fitting and wouldn't give him his results!)
It doesn't say anywhere on their site that you actually need to buy something for the fitting!
What I didn't tell them was I'm looking to get custom fitted for a full set of irons soon also, which they've now lost out on.
Me and my mates have spent some amount of money in their shop over the years when they were located at Brucefields in Stirling, along with all the money we've spent at the driving range at Airth! I even bought my Callaway MD4's from the PGA professional that was at Brucefields when they were located there!
Absolute rogues who are only interested in your money.
I, along with all my mates, won't be back to them or the driving range! Which is sad as I've been going to that range for years.
Steer well clear.”
“Order placed via EU website but no mention that import duties could apply. Courier wants the equivalent of 30% of the purchase value to release the order from customs. AmericanGolf have not replied to my email, their webchat doesn't work and the phoneline is on an endless "please hold" message then cuts me off. Call back is then engaged or "dead". Can't get hold of them to arrange a return and refund. Terrible experience!”
“Without a doubt the worse online shopping experience I have ever experienced in my life!
- Order placed
- Money taken of CC
- Order delivered to a random address in Leicester
- I requested delievery to Derby address
- Item now out of stock
- Won't collect from Leic and deliver correctly
- Promised Refund a week ago, still waiting
- 5 emails sent .. still NO REPLY
- National Customer Service phone mailbox is full so message says please try later!
“AMERICAN GOLF WEBSITE REVIEW: Terrible after sales care. Standard Delivery (Free) says it will be delivered within 7 working days. That was 2 days ago and it hasn't even been dispatched yet! Try and call? No one answers... Try and use the online chat? No ones there...
This will be the last clubs I buy from American Golf. Save the hassle and buy elsewhere where they treat you properly as a customer.”
“Not even 1 star ?
Do not touch this company with a barge pole !!!
I had a custom fitting in December & was told I would have my order by the end of February at the latest?
To cut a long story short I had a call on Wednesday the 6th of April out of the blue to just let me know that my custom fit order will be ready at the end of June.
OMG that's 7 months to fulfil an £800 order & the worst thing about it is no apology & basically they don't care one bit !!
As soon as they take your hard earned cash they are happy.
I will be going into the store on Monday the 12th April for a full refund & will never ever spend another penny in this business as long as I live.
Customers be very careful before going to this company. my advice is to go to your club professional & get a custom fit .
From a very, very, very disappointed ex customer.”
“EU BUYERS BEWARE
EU buyers need to beware, you are being misled by American Golf. They will take your order placed on a .EU website, priced in Euro and displaying your countries own vat rate. However, they will not tell you that you will be liable for import/customs charges when your item arrives. Their comment to earlier complaints regarding this issue on Trustpilot is to say it's out of their control. This is not true, its totally in their control to make customers aware that they are not buying from a legitimate EU website but from a UK website and customs charges will apply. AMERICAN GOLF - YOU NEED TO BE HONEST WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS!”
“I bought a motocaddy M1 in July 2020(£550) and the battery charger has failed whilst under warranty.
Spoke to customer service who Said I would have to return it to the store purchased from for them to deal with, and that customer service were unable to deal with the issue. Stores open 12 April, golf courses reopen 29th of March......they are not prepared to do anything and I’ll have to be patient.
I’ll be patient. I’ll also never be buying a single thing from them again.
Lady at customer service was unhelpful and was pretty confrontational “your choice if you don’t want to shop with us again”.
Zero stars should be an option.”
“I bought a set of irons for £900 which were delivered on time and as ordered. Noticed a few days later that the same set were available on clubhousegolf.co.uk for £550. Couldn't return the clubs as I had already used two of them. Emailed AG customer service who basically said 'tough'. Have spent thousands with these guys, never again.”
“Email was not received to confirm order so reordered. I have to pay for returning additional pair. Customer service zilch!
Also had used Quidco and surprise, surprise that hasn’t shown up for either pair.
Will not be using this company again and will be sharing my experience widely so no one else makes same mistakes I did and has to pay the price.”
“Do not reply to emails, do not answer calls, online chat doesn't work!
Finally got through after 24 hours of trying and Lauren in the Warrington office doesn't know what the policies are and isnt allowed to speak to a manager,
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY”
“This is NOT about Hambrook but American Golf online.
I ordered an item 2 weeks before Christmas and at 1730 on 23rd December was informed the order could not be fulfilled and was cancelled.
The email to tell me was extremely blunt and no solution offered. I appreciate this year Covid has made trade difficult but to deliberately leave it so late that an alternative would be impossible to source spoilt my Christmas and I had to suffer the embarrassment of not giving one of my family a gift.
I have been dealing with customer services who (to date) have not offered any solution or resolution to the issue just an insincere apology and suggested I should reorder in the future.
The item remains available to order via the website. Absolutely disgraceful service and I will be sharing via social media.
Please use your local pro shop as sadly, the online service is dreadful”
“You shouldn't use COVID as an excuse for shocking customer service. Zero communication - try web chat to chase my order and it tells me no agents to please call, I call and get told the phone number isn't working(!?) email and you just get a generic auto reply. The website clearly says "Maximum 10 day standard delivery" This has passed, no notification, can't get hold of anyone. I work for an online retailer so I understand the current issues but people have ordered Christmas gifts in good faith. If you can't handle orders then you shouldn't be taking them, or at least be honest you have no idea when they will be received if you do order.”
