Ordered £200 trees etc November 2020, chased the order several times and was given various COVID related excuses. Promised delivery by end of March, still nothing! They’re not even responding to my emails now for full refund.

Waited patiently for a collection of trees and fruit bushes/canes ordered in December. Told in Feb that they were on their way. When I enquired about them today, I was told my order had been cancelled and refunded. Yes, I did receive the £141 back, but too late to get a good choice from other suppliers. Not a single word of apology from them - they seem to feel that is not due. Very sad that a formerly reputable company has come to this.

Spent over £200 on blackcurrant bushes in November. Promises and promises they would be delivered before it is too late to plant bare root stock end of March. Said I would collect to avoid delays. Told the order was cancelled and I would be refunded. No refund and the blackcurrant bushes are still on sale on their site.......

Perhaps there should be zero stars - ordered fruit in October and still (end March) it has not arrived. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Please do not waste your time or money with this company. Ordered a tree in early January and was told that they are working hard to fulfill all orders. Not having heard anything by February sent an email (as phone is left unanswered). A standard response was received saying that it would be with me by the end of February/early March. Having still not received my tree by the 20th March, I sent another email to them and received a response telling me some guff about they have held on to my money for too long and have to refund it. But I could re-order.... Hahahahaha I did get a refund, but cannot buy a tree as everywhere else has sold out for the season.

This is a scam. Money held for over 6 months. Lots of delivery promises but nothing. Every excuse in the book. Go elsewhere and save yourself the grief! Should be banned. D

Order placed for multiple raspberry canes, gooseberry, red currant and black currant bushes in October 2020. After multiple attempts at getting a delivery date and multiple assurances that delivery was not a problem and my bare roots plants would arrive in time for planting and definitely before March, my order gets cancelled out of the blue a few days ago without an explanation. Refund has been promised! Now I have no plants and the season is upon us.... Extremely bad customer service combined with misleading delivery information seems to be the model this company is working to. Communication is not their forte! AVOID THIS COMPANY.

I was badly let down by Chris Bowers. My advice to anyone thinking of placing an order with them is - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. They took my order for 4 trees in early January. When they didn't deliver the only way to contact them was by Email because they never answer the phone. They repeatedly told me they were 'working hard' and that my order would be with me soon. The weeks rolled by and then they just cancelled my order! Nothing! By this time the planting season was over and other suppliers had sold out. A year lost! I am not the only one to have been let down, as you will see from this website. Meanwhile, Chris Bowers is still taking orders as though it's business as usual. This is an apallingly bad company that does not deserve to remain in business.

PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY, as so many others have said If I could give a zero, I would have. I placed two orders for 17 fruit trees in total in January, website said delivery in 28 days. Since then my experience with this company has been a nightmare... As the wait went on and on, I tried to contact the company. They won’t answer the phone and only send very short, curt, anonymous replies to emails, sometimes after several days wait. I have always found it strange that no one ever signs an email, sadly I’m now left wondering if there’s some dishonesty here. As others have experienced, despite being assured in 3 separate (very short) emails that our trees would definitely be despatched we today received a generic, anonymous email saying the order has now been cancelled, we can reorder if we like and not to reply to the message! When I responded to ask them to confirm if the order would be honoured, I simply received the same generic and anonymous message, saying again not to reply, which was just plain rude and insulting. Disgusting way to treat your customers. I now feel stupid for putting my trust in Chris Bowers and Sons. So, our long planned project of planting an orchard is now in shreds, and right at the end of the bare root planting season. Like others we have to wait another year now. Without doubt, the worst experience we’ve ever had with any supplier, anywhere. The most appalling aspect in all this is the way Chris Bowers and sons are treating their customers, COVID has been a challenge for all of us, but it’s how we handle this that matters, staying in touch and treating customers with respect was all that was needed, sadly this was utterly lacking. We now need to find a respectable company to start all over again. I’m sorry others had had such an appalling experience too.

2 orders placed, Oct 20 and Feb 21 - Neither received. Communication non existant, waiting for refund on one and news on the other. So wish I had researched this business before ordering. Have seen similar reviews on other review sites such as trust pilot. Suggest you order elsewhere to avoid the stress

My order for blackcurrant bushes was placed in October with delivery then promised before the end of the year. The only messages from them subsequently have been boilerplate responses to my own queries. I have just (15 March) sent a message to cancel and refund.

Ordered trees in january but not recd Ordered trees in january, like everyone else my emails were either ignored or answered vaguely, then i recd the same email saying they are going to refund my money as they have held it too long.....im praying i actually get my refund as i dont trust them one little bit, The sad thing is WHEN I LOOKED AT THEIR WEBSITE YOU CAN STILL ORDER THE EXACT TREES I ORDERED IN JANUARY, SO THEY ARE STILL TAKING ORDERS WHICH THEY OBVIOUSLY WONT DISPATCH. DONT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

Same as all recent reviewers. Ordered several trees in November. An update was provided by CB in Feb advising delivery would be end of Feb. 11th March my order has been cancelled. Looking at the review history it looks like they haven't delivered any orders in the last few months. They have been taking orders, and the cash presumably planning to deliver in March. I believe them when they say Trading standards have ordered them to refund the money. I've received an email saying I can reorder after 22nd March once they have sorted things out. Like I'm going to do that!!! I chose them originally based on good reviews. Their reputation is trashed, and rightly so if they treat customers in such a dishonest way. Avoid

I placed an order for 5 fruit trees in November 2020 and today, 12th March 2021, i received an email saying they were refunding the money I had paid. No explanation about the trees but said i could place an order after 22nd March. Looking at the reviews which have been posted in the last couple of days I’m not alone in being let down. Because I have believed their emails stating they have stock and bear with them I have lost the opportunity to buy bare rooted trees and stocks are low everywhere. Very poor customer service.

Accepted my order for 7 bare root trees in November. Took the money. Heard nothing further. Chased in February. No reply. Today get an email "saying they'd kept my money too long so had to cancel!" Clearly they ran out of stock but hadn't realised. Awful communication and customer service.

CAUTION when ordering as may be severely delayed or never arrive Didn't receive trees and bushes ordered in September, despite having spoken to CS before ordering to check what was in suitable and in stock. Eventually had to issue notice before action in Feb 21 as delivery deadlines repeatedly missed and communication very limited. Refund issued after notice. The business has cited everything under the sun as a reason for poor service, but it seems that it was intermittent before COVID anyway. The rest of the world has adapted to home working, social distancing, temporary closures or risk commercial failure, so they hardly seem valid arguments and make the claim of a shortened dormant season just seem like another attempt to come up with something credible. It simple: if you can't supply or manage existing orders, don't continue to trade.

I ordered and paid for a tree on the 8th December 2020 for a Christmas present for my sister. Despite numerous e mails to the company and promises of delivery, here we are 3 months later with no delivery! Last communication from the company was the 6/1/2021. Will never use again and would not recommend this company. Terrible service!

Unsure if this company is completely disorganised or actually fraudulent. Bad reviews everywhere you look reflect my own experience. Tree ordered mid Nov after confirming availability. Not received by 1st March. Payment taken at point of ordering. Phone lines un-manned as "too busy" - "but still taking orders on-line". No or poor responses to emails. Delivery then promised in circular email by mid/late Feb . Hello March - no tree. The statistics shown on this review page in relation to delivery and communications are miles out.

Email enquiry about a potential order (20+ trees of various types/varieties). Misread my email with unhelpful reply. No response to my follow-up email. No response to phone calls. What a shame. Unsure if stricken with Covid-19, post-Brexit labour supply, or simply overwhelmed with orders. Will take my business elsewhere.
