Tried to buy a gift card but utterly impossible. Made ten phone calls and most answered by totally incompetent staff who did not seem to know what a gift card was! Last phone call put me through to an insurance company. Gave up and phoned John Lewis who arranged everything in six minutes.

They claim they deliver internationally but it seems the orders are either never on time or they never arrive all together. I'm still waiting for mine.

If I could give negative stars I would. I stumbled upon this store in Ireland and found a jacket I loved, they didn’t have my size so i went online and bought it- so excited. They lost it in the mail and I asked if I ordered it again if they would honor the sale price. They didn’t answer in time and for a Christmas gift I bought it again-delivering to my parents address- they lost the package AGAIN the week of Christmas and now I am without a gift and $500 out of pocket. Very disappointed I will never shop there again. They need to be more accountable for their carriers

Dreadfully rude staff in your Blanchardstown store. 2 tills open Xmas week and one of the girls who actually looked like the manager looked like she hated every second of her job. Too slow on tills and not a smile to be had from anyone. Coming from retail myself it looks like all their staff need serious training in customer service

I called in for a product that says it was available at the 213 oxford street store, so I journeyed 2 hours to the store as I needed to travel out of the country next day. Little did I know I was on a trip to the most unreasonable store manager ever. The sales guy checked on the pda and it says they had 5 available but the manager won't sell because he wanted to use it for promo. Excuse me manager, I've just traveled all the way down to your store because the telephone and online service says you have it stocked and we've confirmed from the pda that stock is certainly available. Your sales assistance has gone to check the stock room and has confirmed the physical appearance of what I came to buy. The manager kept lying right to my face item was no longer available. No other company has been so unreasonable as the customer service agent said they couldn't overrule the store manager's decision. Today has been an absolute waste of my time and money. This is certainly a goodbye to RiverIsland from me as it's clear that customers are certainly not valued in their culture.

The dress that I Ordered to collect in store wasn't what it looked like on the model.in the pictures. I'm a,size 10, quite tall, slim . The dress seemed much bigger, didn't fall properly on the shoulders, to be honest, it was horrible😕.

Placed my very first order with River Island with standard international shipping on Nov. 17. Tacking said it dispatched on Nov.18 and will arrive Nov.30. Nothing was delivered and the tracking never updated. Waited another week and still nothing showed up. I messaged customer service on Dec.7 asking where my parcel is and if it's lost, I wanted a refund and guess what happened? They emailed me back saying that my parcel has been returned to the warehouse on Dec. 9 and will issue a refund. So basically they never sent me the package. What a joke of a company. Definitely my last time buying from them. Buyers beware!

I really feel it's unacceptable to be advertising products online, allow the customer to order and pay for said product and then cancel the order a few days later because it's out of stock. If it's out of stock don't put it on your website in the first place and allow an order. Customer services not good either. I’ll never order from here again.

Bought an item yersterday in Chester. Blond little Girl in the till was so unfriendly just slammed the product on the counter when I payed. Then I asked her if I could have a bag she looked at me like I asked her for her right kidney!! Felt so uncomfortable How rude.

Bought a pair of ankle boots around £90 second time wearing them i noticed one of the heels went completely wonky for not reason. Ruined my afternoon of shopping and needed to go to Primark in a rush to buy a decent replacement... For just £16!!! Not happy is an understatement.

Bought and paid for next day delivery. Hermes courier tracking states delivery between 7 & 9 PM - nothing. Then at 10:46 PM message saying they had tried to deliver but no one home. THIS IS JUST A LIE. TWO PEOPLE WERE AT HOME

I can’t even begin to explain how terrible the customer service is. I placed an order to be collected from store on 28 September, it was despatched on 30 September. I was told it would be available to collect on 03 October and I would receive a “it’s arrived” email. I had not received this. So, I called River Island customer services, spoke to the snottiest girl ever! – she was totally rude. First of all, she recorded my order number wrong so was telling me that my name is different on the account and I’m lying about my name. I then give her the order number again to which she went “oh, well what’s your name, email address etc” all over again when I had ALREADY told her this. She clearly was just NOT listening. She then told me my order has been in store since Friday 28 September? Which is the date I placed the order? Then she told me she will email the store to ask them about the order, Which will take 2 working days? Which is horrendous! I have paid for This order and told it would be there by 3 Oct that's what I expect!! not to have to wait another 2 working days because you can't be bothered to do your job. I then used the online service to be told it has arrived the email just hasn’t been sent to me in error? What the hell. So, I would of went two days without my item it’s already been almost a week. All because this certain girl didn’t give a toss. She sounded half asleep, had 0% customer service skills and was super abrupt and rude. River Island should be ashamed to have someone like that working for them. Never again will I order online.

I placed an order Wednesday 12th September (evening) and paid for next day delivery expecting delivery on Friday 14th September. To date my item is still not here. I have sent two emails ( had no reply )and have just waited to get through to River Island for 30 minutes via phone. I Can't wait any longer. Thank you.

Trying to return a leather jacket that was not true to size and I just get the run around. They should not be offering international,delivery if they cannot deliver what they promise. When you try to return their website says it's in "Maintenance mode" They then direct you to their carrier Aramex who do not offer customer support when their website won't allow you to organise a retuern shipment. Overall a scam company.

Very disappointed- I ordered a pair of jeans only to find they had a hole in them. Returned them and reordered another pair and those too arrived with a hole in them. Still waiting for my refund to be processed and all customer services can tell me is to reorder and return the faulty goods!!!!

Shocked ! I am very shocked to read the reviews it seems everyone went through the same thing as i am experiencing right now. I ordered a bag for a friends birthday and the package never came, they advised me to go and check with my local post, wich i did,but they gave me a non existing tracking number. After getting in touch with them i must say the workers there were friendly and tried to be helpful in their own way, i dont think its their fault for the product being lost while being shipped. However after reading the reviews i am very scared that they might not refund me my money at all. Not many people know but in Balkan people working 8h are paid 10€ a day wich menas only 300€ a month so buying a bag that costs 60€ is a lot of money And not getting them back means 6 days of my life going to waste. It feels as if they took my hard earned money and burned it. I will write and update if they refund my money and of course change the review.

Very disappointing shop and costumer service! I made two orders on their website totalling €150 that have to be delivered outside UK, orders were supposed to be delivered on the 25th June, just one of the parcel arrived and the other one has been probably lost. Customer service have no idea where my parcel is and they don't want to contact DPD. They don't even offered a refund!!! this is ridicoulous you don't care about your costumers, I will never order with them again

The zip is faulty on the bag I bought as it is a rucksack it is not useable. I have full proof of purchase however RI refuse to exchange. Therefore I’m out of pocket £30. Didn’t expect service of such a low standard from such well known company.
