“was very pleased with the product, but their customer service was poor, rearranged delivery date, but wood was delivered on the original date, and dumped outside my front door on the road, while I had informed them I would be away for a few days,”

“Product had damaged edges. Also packaging had been taped to the product it self on the veneer, was difficult to remove and left residue. For my purposes I was able to work around these issues.”

“Wood was well priced and delivery was fast. Driver was really helpful with unloading and bringing wood onto the property. MDF was all good quality but ordered a lot of planed timber, the vast majority of which was significantly warped which caused problems during construction, hence 3 stars and not 5 sadly.”

“Used them for years - great if you are going in to collect. However online sales lie. I booked the delivery two weeks ago. Two of us took time off work. Rang at 10 to ask for an estimated time. Was told late morning. Fine didn't do the other job I intended. However delivery did not arrive until 3pm. Lovely driver came here especially so it clearly hadn't been programmed. Needless to say the job is not done.”

“Ordered one sheet oak faced plywood the first one delivered was packed damage corner & was damaged on delivery . Prompt exchange many thanks & was acceptable. DX couriers l would request better protection to corners for future deliveries. I will be coming to harlow for stair component parts”

“Positive: Ordering through the website was straightforward and the stock choice was excellent. The sheet goods were protected from rain with a plastic sheet, which was good. Negative: The wood was held together with plastic straps, which damaged the edges of the board. Some prior thought could have prevented this using some padding. The faces of one panel were a bit damaged when I got them out, so hadn’t been handled properly at some point. £25 delivery is cheap compared to others, but I expect better care for £25. Overall: I might use Harlow again, but it’s not a given.”

“The quality of timber it's really good but delivery charges are massive. For one long pallet we paid £400 plus Vat! The worst thing is that Harlow Timber has got regural deliveries to our neighbours then I guess would be easier and cheaper to combain to one. I don't believe entire lorries are rented for single orders? This must be changed otherwise the customer will be ordering from somewhere else.”

“Excellent choice of items, and available online. Shame that despite two attempts all of the ordered products were not delivered, together with unannounced substitute (larger dimension) item.”

“I had issues with the delivery date being changed and then when the wood did arrive it was not cut to the correct length defined, some shorter some longer, also one piece had been damaged which I sent back and it wasn't replaced but I was offered a £25 refund.”

“Delivered on time with a fair price. However the wood was supposed to be 610 x 1220 plywood. The sizes ranged from 590 to 620. Not that impressed really”

“Firstly was given the wrong wood, I didn’t realise at first so started loading up the car, and realised it was the wrong product, so they swapped it for me. I made a pre order online and they didn’t give me the brown wall plugs I ordered. Because of the wood issue and the faffing, I didn’t realise until I got home.”

“I ordered a sheet of 4mm birch plywood. It was a reasonable price and well packaged for delivery. However the condition of the plywood sheet was not great. Heavy cross grain sanding scratches and various red paint marks.”

“Recently ordered various sizes of log lap off Harlows Web site ,they gladly accepted the order and took payment only to then receive a call 2 days later saying they only stocked one lenght ,I did receive my money back the following week ,but why advertise something you don't have ,maybe this needs addressing”

If this is the case, we will give you a courtesy call or email asking if you would accept the meterage of the timber ordered, or if it must be the specific lengths ordered. It is possible that we can get the specific lengths in from another branch, but this may cause a delay to your order. If this isn’t acceptable, we will refund you in full. On every product where this applies, we state” Tally lengths requested will only be supplied when available from stock, or the equivalent meter run will be supplied. “Used online ordering for first time. Ordered on a Friday, picked Tuesday for a delivery date. Heard nothing by Tuesday so rang up. Was asked if I was happy with different lengths of wood to my order. This was fine and was told delivery would be Thursday. Hallows dispatched on Wednesday but despite this DX delivery didn’t arrive until Friday. Job pushed back and after a complaint was refunded delivery charge. Quality timber and pricing but probably would have been less hassle going into a branch to order.”

Unfortunately, courier’s can have unexpected delays in their network, such as accidentally misrouting the package to another depot, staffing issues and road traffic incidents.
