In April 2024, we began the process of having our son assessed for ADHD after receiving consistent feedback from various settings - nursery, school, football, and at home. At age nine, we decided it was time to seek answers, as his suspected ADHD traits were beginning to affect his life in a negative way. He struggled to form and maintain friendships, often found himself at the centre of conflicts, and was frequently labelled as disruptive due to difficulties with focus and impulsivity. This journey led us to Dr. Vilanova at Rainbow Medical Centre. From start to finish, the support we have received from Dr. Vilanova has been nothing short of exceptional. The assessment process was detailed, professional, and incredibly reassuring. We felt confident that our son would not simply be given a label - the diagnosis was thorough and backed up by clear evidence from both written and visual assessments. Following the diagnosis, the ongoing care and support have been fantastic. Initially, we were hesitant about the idea of medication, but Dr. Vilanova was extremely understanding and supportive, allowing us to move forward entirely at our own pace. After several months, when our son continued to struggle emotionally and academically, we decided, with Dr. Vilanova’s guidance, to try medication. Now, a few months later, the difference is remarkable. Our son is thriving. He’s built strong friendships, manages himself brilliantly in challenging situations, and is excelling academically just in time for his SATs. His teacher has described his behaviour as “exceptional” and he’s already being recognised for his achievements. We honestly never thought we’d be in this position, and it’s all thanks to the help and support from Rainbow Medical. The decision to pursue an assessment and start medication has truly transformed our son’s life for the better!

Very good experience, professional and quick it helped clear up questions/concerns I had. Would recommend for private ADHD diagnosis as it is much quicker and there is lots of options for continued support after the diagnosis.

The three hour appointment went well and we had time to cover all 90+ questions required to gather relevant information. So Job done. However, It is also important to match the communication style of the professional with the others participating in each interview or session given that many parents may also have neurodivergent processing and communication quirks. I understand that the choice whether to disclose our own neuro diverse traits is a personal one for both parents of a child and the professional leading the appointment and isn't for everyone. I am happy to do so, although I expect it's fairly obvious anyway. Everyone has a different communication style. My own communicating style was a little at odds with the person leading the session and at times I felt that the professional was frustrated that my responses were not succinct enough as I didn't want to leave out anything of value. Their style of communication was quite neutral and they didn't seem comfortable. The quality of information given may differ if there is a mismatch between communicating styles of the assessor and the person giving the information or being assessed. Perhaps patients and their parents could be given a choice of professionals before each booking rather than allocated a professional. A link to their profiles would be useful. I have attended several appointments as a parent with various psychologists and psychiatrists. The quality of information given was more fluent when rapport was established early on in the session and where my child felt he was able to express themself freely. It might also help if parents are given a heads up at to which life periods would be the focus of the questioning beforehand. Childhood can be a blur, especially when you have several children. Again recall can be easier with time to prep. Overall, the appointment achieved its purpose. Thank you

Efficient and really easy clear processes for booking and payment. The staff have all been superb and approachable, my child and I felt reassured and supported. The assessments were all well explained and child centred. The diagnostic appointments were clear and informative, aimed at my level of understanding with clear explanations and thorough discussion about options moving forward. We felt supported throughout.
