“These folks have a beautifully organized Web store, with no clutterand irrelevancies. The purchase process is idiot-proof, and they promised delivery 7 days after my order. It showed up on day 5. I'm tempted to complain as a pro forma matter, but why make extra work? This company appears to have it together.”

“I stumbled upon Sternglas while searching the internet for 'top watches under $1,000' and for watch style/trends. I found the website and was immediately interested. I previously wore an Echo/Neutral and a Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 but the negatives of an automatic, began to out weight the benefits. I was shopping for a watch with a larger profile but with the field watch feel to it. The Hamburg Chrono silver with grey nylon strap was exactly what I was looking for and wow does it pop! I received 2 compliments on day one wearing it! I especially appreciate the sapphire crystal and that for a quartz watch, it is not ultra thin. This is indistinguishable from the quality of an automatic. I have no regrets and am about to order the same watch in Regatta. For under $1,000, I will have two great watches that have the look and feel of the Tag Heuer. The only area where I was disappointed is that there is not solid black nylon strap available for this watch. Thank you!”

“I wanted a German made watch that was beautiful and simple. Having visited Hamburg years ago with a friend while in college made my decision all that much easier when I saw where many of the watches by Sternglas are made. It was easy choice after that.”

“I saw the watch brand mentioned by Teddy Baldassarre as an up-and-coming German microbrand so had to check out their watches. Decided on the Hamburg automatic with the dark blue dial and the bronze finish on the case as it was the one that seemed to match my style. The dial is a little more complex than a simple bauhaus-style watch which I actually like as there is more to capture the eye and look at when glancing at the time. The watch has the characteristic bauhaus big-dial appearance to it which actually looks very good on the wrist and contrasts very well when wearing lighter-colored shirts in a very complementary way. It's interesting when microbrands tell the story behind the watch, and I think that the story of the color themes matching the canals and brick warehouses of the old Hamburg where the watches are currently made, and the slightly nautical-theme added to the bauhaus style was interesting and definitely gives the watch it's unique character. I chose the provided leather band but noticed after ordering that there was an option to purchase a thin stainless steel bracelet finished with bronze that I think would have looked really nice with this watch. In the several days I've had it, it has kept very accurate time and to me seems to be a watch that should really cost more than the $499 that I paid for it. The only area for improvement I would recommend for future models is to have a little less reflectivity from the surface sapphire crystal. The reflectivity doesn't interfere with being able to read the time from the watch at all as the deep orange / copper-like hands contrast well with the deep blue dial. Overall I think that this watch is a great value and will definitely consider purchasing an additional watch (and maybe even get the bronze finished bracelet for the current watch) and to keep checking back with them to see what new concepts on redefining the bauhaus style they come up with.”

We will pass on the compliments and suggestions to our team :) Regarding reflectivity: the legibility of our watches is very important to us. In fact, the glass has a double anti-reflective coating. We have also tried it a third time, but the glass then turns greenish and that is not nice. Especially on watches with a dark dial, it can seem as if the glass is very reflective because it is simply a dark background.
