I was contacted by yell for advertising and was miss sold as I have had no customers and I cant see any difference I’m basically getting charged for free add , I have complained but they try to sell me another package on top of what I’m paying so I’m not having that .

I received a call from a Yell sales man who was very good at his job. Sticking to his script which had been very well thought out and designed by the compliance staff. The salesman made strong points to make Yell seem much better than they have proven to be, I.e 'Yell have 50+million people visit the directory every year, which is drastically better than Checkatrade or Mybuilder who have 4.5million and 3million'. Being a new company I have to make sure I spend money wisely advertising my services. I don't feel spending £80 a month on a service which has generated one new lead is by any means sufficient. Checkatrade manage 3-5 new leads a week and Google SEO optimisation is about the same. Which then compared to Yell's 1 in 4 months is insane, especially when you take into account Yell charge more than the Google SEO optimisation and the same as Checkatrade.  After speaking to the customer services team about the lack of leads I received they looked into my ad then and there with me on the phone. They told me my pictures were good as was the description. The only thing they could think of to help generate new leads is to customise a new banner to make the ad look more aesthetically pleasing. Why this wasn't done in the first place when they helped me create the ad sounds unprofessional and lazy. Since the new banner I have yet to receive any new leads.... The fact Yell made me sign up to a 12 month contract when they know their directory is severely flawed is just deceitful business. Instead of spending money to try to make their business model change with the times, they instead get businesses involved with a 12 month contract which they full well know isn't going to generate the companies a sufficient amount of business. I have pleaded with Yell to remove me from their directory to no avail. I won't be paying for a service which doesn't work and if Yell feel they have to keep threatening me with a debt collections company then that's what they'll have to do but that won't change my mind and I wont be bullied into paying for something which DOES NOT WORK. Looking back on some of the points the salesman made I see how what they said was suppose to mislead me. For example, people go to Checkatrade and Mybuilder solely for tradesman whereas people would go to Yell for anything from a barbers to a train station.... When you take this into account the more realistic comparison could be Checkatrade have 4.5M+ people a year visit their platform for tradesman whereas Yell have 100,000 people look through their platform for tradesman.

All sales, no management. The account manager, was amazing at the start, perhaps he was hired for Sales rather than account management. I had to point out mistakes, with incorrect Google Display Networks. They didn’t communicate anything with me unless I asked, gave me the most basic information, and outsourced my work, which the account manager knew very little about. I have ended all my contracts, painfully had to wait the full 6 months. Now I have asked them to explain what they did to actually manage my account, They keep replying with generic information. Please please please don’t be fooled by these people, as I mentioned it’s all about the sales and they couldn’t care less about my account.

Never use this company, total waste of time and money. Promised the earth and delivered nothing. For a small business we were totally misled and it has cost us dearly. Yell should be ashamed of themselves. Our website orders actually decreased during the time we used them. AVOID

DO NOT USE YELL to design a website! As a customer of ten years I asked yell to design me a new website back in February, I sent a 7 page document of how I wanted it to look, all of the copy, 115 images etc and had an hour long chat with the designer about what I wanted. What they put together was beyond terrible! Looked like it had been designed by a child in the 90’s on a commodore Amiga! They ignored everything I asked for, used terrible stock images, got the copy wrong, addresses, phone number etc were wrong and it honestly looked awful, I wish I could add the link so you could see what they class as acceptable! I complained and basically had no response for a week, so took to wix to design my own. I then asked Yell if they could transfer the one I’d designed over to them and once again was ignored! It’s now June, I am fighting for a full refund! I’ve asked 5 times for their official complaints process and just been referred to the yell chat every time.. but yell chat never resolve the issue. Been waiting 3 weeks for a response from a manager who I chase every few days! I have now had 49 contacts with them via phone and email (I’ve kept a record to escalate this to the ombudsman) and still just get ignored. Don’t use yell for your website, my experience start to finish could not have been worse and they honestly could not care less

DO NOT USE YELL.COM Misleading and lies about the service they say they can provide. They persuade saying that thousands of people use Yell.com for services. I have have been on the platform for over 4 months receiving only 49 clicks 37 intent to contact. They do not advertise their platform on search engine to gain more visibility. I am reporting to trading standards and other association that can help me with my complaint. The overall experience is just awful. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Worst company ever. Literally not worth the time or money. They miss sell you their product. You would be better off spending your money with quite literally any other provider.

Only post nicely nice positive reviews not ones with factual real honest truthful stories .Backing a company on their site that has left a customer with faulty glass windows that cost £6k😡removed my review even though checkatrade and trustpilot haven’t very one sided judgemental company

Harassment & lies This wasn't the first time that I've received phone calls from YELL. I keep telling to them that I DON'T HAVE A BUSINESS OR AN ACCOUNT WITH YELL!! I created an account with them because of the free listings for my new company. I resigned from the company in August 2022 and then I closed my YELL account through the app. My ex- business partner has created a new account with them which has clearly nothing to do with me. Keep getting phone calls and telling me that if I don't pay they will take my case further... 1. I don't have an account with YELL for monts 2. It was free advertising 3. My name cannot be on the system regarding the new account 4. I don't have business 5. Stop harassing people 6. The agent who called me was rude and talking over me...

***be aware**** Yell are very quick to take your money. I’ve had issues after issues with yell. They take weeks if not months to rectify issues. Their business hours revolve solely around themselves and not the customers. If you want to deal with yell then best take the day off to sort it out as they expect you to work around them. Whenever a callback is arranged they never bother to call you back always a different person and you have to explain yourself over and over. Had a website made by yell promising this and that - not one phone call regarding what the website was offering - money well spent. Long story short if you want to be disappointed go with yell they will drive you insane. Also maybe just invest in a pavement sign as easier more effective and less hassle than yell!

I was contacted by YELL in the early days of starting my business, (They pray on new startups). I agreed to £114.00 per month and guaranteed a top place on Google. I’ll not lie, I did get a couple of leads, but they were from their own site which is on Google. Good luck getting in touch with customer services. I’ve finally managed to cancel my subscription and contract since now I’ve been paying for 15 months. I feel like a complete mug for ever using this service and feel I need to warn anyone who’s been contacted by them. HANG UP!

Horrendous company with horrific customer service. We have been receiving a ridiculous number of calls from their Sales Team which is constantly wasting my team's time. We then discovered that our advert doesn't even come up when you search for it, so what's the point in having it? I asked for them to cancel the subscription due to the issues we have encountered, and they still haven't called or emailed us despite telling us that it would be up to 7 days to confirm the cancellation. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

I contacted the YELL support and asked to terminate my service as they didn't delivered any lead. That is 0. Also the listing has my link listed with a nofollow attribute so it's 0 help for SEO too. But they don't want to cancel???!!! They say I still have to pay a monthly fee for another 11 months. I will make sure I use my marketing knowledge to publish my horror story everywhere, on the whole internet! I will even report this to the FTC so they can start investigating their abusive practices.

They really are bad. Over ten years ago it was yellow book to homes. When book printed then you had to wait so advertise or dont but you were missing out. They had good coverage of market. People turned to yell. Now though and with yell book gone and then online they do nothing for your money. £111 each month. I monitored my callers. Have you seen my advert from google or yell? Oh definitely google. So you are sure not yell. You know yell. The caller says I know yell and it was definitely not them. 1 star reviews. Honestly they are the firm with the lowest rating. Just scrolling through their reviews they have a plethora of 1 star reviews. Please save your money and don’t advertise with them. If you do then cancel and tell them you are recording the call so if they don’t cancel you, in court you can verify to the judge they are deceitful. Quickly after they cancel you. Yell I wish you no luck from here. Bankruptcy is your only option

Absolute mugs! I signed up for a year's contract for business of a sum of £147.66 since March 2022, I have not received ONE phone call. When I called to complain they told me it was my fault for not having any reviews. How can I get reviews with no work coming through Yell? They are useless. I absolutely HATE (really emphasise that HATE) seeing £147.66 coming out account per month while I get absolutely NOTHING in return. NEVER EVER!!! sign up to yell business. Use checkatrade instead, much better.

They get extremely poor results with Google ads and for me generated a tiny number of calls that were all people looking to speak with other businesses or other types of businesses. Despite terrible results they refuse to cancel. You rarely get promised return calls. Definitely one to avoid
