Got this for my wife who is an RN. Sure says in a home health roll with the TV's and background noise this helps her pick up on a patient's vital signs.

I have been working as a paramedic for 13 years now. The first wave of the pandemic we had it easy. The second wave hit us like a ton of bricks, and I find myself having around 80-85% of patients having COVID related complaints. My employer provides us with high quality PPE (and strictly enforces use with every patient contact.) Auscultation with a traditional stethoscope comes with several challenges in full Ppe, including contaminating yourself while placing the stethoscope and having to be directly in a patient’s face to auscultate. Enter the EKO Core. Before donning PPE, I put in EarPods and wirelessly transmit my stethoscope through my phone. I can now auscultate without fear of cross contaminating, and it works SEAMLESSLY! The fact that I can use it with my existing stethoscope (an over 15 year old trusty Littmann Cardiology III) makes it even better. It has changed the way I approach care, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

I love the core attachment. I use it both with the stethoscope whole and wireless with headphones. I just wish that 1. there was a good case for protection when not in use and 2. a way to counterweight it around my neck as it slides toward the attachment and almost falls constantly.

Happy with my new device. I attached it to my Littmann Cardiology IV stethoscope and it seems to perform as suggested. Great for those older ears that struggle with some tones.

I got the EKO Core attachment during the beginning of December. I own a Litmannn stethoscope Classic II SE. My stethoscope was pretty hard to take apart to attach the EKO core attachment piece. The EKO core attachment came with 2 different sizes of adapters (one for pediatric stethoscope and one for adults). I had to use the pediatric one because my tubing was thinner than the Litmann Classic III stethoscope. Now to the review part of the EKO core attachment. The attachment itself does amplify the sounds a lot more. I haven’t fine tuned my skills with heart sounds yet because I haven’t been working as a nurse on the medical floor for that long, but it definitely helps me hear heart sounds a lot better. Also, with this pandemic going on, I often have patients with precautions and this core attachment can be reconfigured to a wireless stethoscope using my airpods with my Galaxy Note 9 phone. This core attachment is way better than using the plastic disposable stethoscopes in the precaution rooms. You can also record the sounds with this attachment and listen to the files later (I haven’t really used this function yet). I highly recommend this device for nursing students or even nursing new grads. After discussing about the pros of the EKO core attachment, I want to discuss about the cons with this device. One of the biggest issues I have with this core attachment is that the charging port is exposed. I clean my stethoscope between each patient use, but that charging area is not an area I can easily clean, plus it can get dirty/dusty over time. Also, when the regular tubing is detached from the core attachment the hole at the bottom is exposed and is hard to clean. I place my stethoscope in a zip lock bag before entering a precaution room to keep my attachment clean, but if I want to go to a regular room and just use it wirelessly the bottom is still exposed. To resolve this issue, I did find silicone micro usb plugs to seal the charging port and I went to ACE hardware to find a plug for the bottom since it wasn’t something I can easily find on amazon. This product can be better if the silicone plugs already come with the core attachment so I didn’t have to go everywhere to find pieces to cover my core attachment. The last issue I had was the micro usb cable that came with my attachment didn’t charge my device at all. I didn’t realize the cable wasn’t working until I plugged the device on a different micro usb cable and it finally charged. I called EKO company about the micro usb cable and they kindly sent me another cable; customer service was great.
