This is my first miniatures game and I love it. I initially got into it for the ships; they are so well crafted and I couldn't resist collecting these iconic little treasures. I play this game (at varying levels of depyh) with my five year old son and my wife. Don't be afraid!

I really love this game. It can be a little tricky to get everything set up and going for new players, but it's so much fun once you get going and understand the rules. I highly recommend miniature market for their price on the starter set. I have two because of the great value.

This core set provides everything, well almost as Vader is not on it, that an SW fan wants in a tabletop game. It is fun to play and the missions are cool. Only keep in mind that more ships will be needed for a good experience.

Good value (3 ships for $27) and comes with the dice and range sets. Once again, wish you could get the damage deck by itself, but they're very detailed.

I picked up two of these to play the game with my 13 year old son. We have had a blast right from the start. It requires a couple play-throughs to really understand the rules, but once you get the hang of it, you can't stop! We've picked up a few expansions now through Miniature Market, and you can't beat their prices. Great value, and a fantastic game from Fantasy Flight!

This is the first Core Set for the X-Wings Miniatures game. It was designed as the entry point to the game, and this core set contains everything you’ll need to play the game on a very limited basis. This set comes with 1 X-Wing (it is a model T-65, more on this later) and 2 Tie Fighters. Additionally, it also includes the dice, tokens, and templates that are required to play the game with any future expansions you may purchase. The standard X-wing play mode is “100 Points”. Each Ship, pilot, and upgrade in the X-Wing Miniatures games has a point value. By combining these different resources and upgrades, you can eventually build a 100 point squad. The Core set does not come with enough ships/cards to play a standard 100 point game. If you’d like to play competitively, or even casually in the standard and most common mode of play, additional expansions will need to be purchased to meet the 100 point build. This year, a 2nd core set “X-Wing the Miniatures Game: The Force Awakens” was released. The new core set comes with new versions of both the X-Wing (now a T-70 Model) and 2 new Tie fighters. Additionally, the damage decks and upgrades are improved in the new core set. The new X-Wing in the Force Awakens core set (Model T-70) is designed to play competitively in today’s game, while the T-65 included in this original set is outdated by the games current standards. While I love this core set, and it is fun, I highly recommend only purchasing this set over the Force Awakens if you are a collector, a completionist, or a casual gamer who prefers the original trilogy ships and pilots over the expanded universe and new films. The Force Awakens set is the better purchase if you are new or looking to play in a competitive setting. Due to the ships in this original core being out dated by newer expansions, and the fact that you can’t use this set to build a 100pt squad (standard play), I have reduced the value score of this product. I think it’s a good purchase, and a lot of fun, but the newer core set is the better option until Fantasy Flight Games releases upgrades that specifically address the T-65 X-Wing’s short comings.

I picked this up just to see if i would like the game and I absolutely love it. The core set was fast and fun to play with the rules being very simple and easy but leaving enough room to play more strategic and in depth games once you pick up more ships.
