This is a great box set but you really need to get two of the box set to get started or play against someone who does.

this game is alot of fun and easy to learn. What I love best is that the piloting/maneuvering aspect of the game is very important. Anticipating your opponents move is crucial in regards to the outcome of the game. Flying the ships are just as important if not more than the ship and pilot abilities. Highly recommend this game. Ships are affordable and thankfully there are no unique or special ships that are over priced.

The xwing game is really well made and I've enjoyed playing it with friends. If you're not a star wars fan you'll probably enjoy the gameplay. Give it a try!

I started with this set and really like how the game plays. Simple to follow rules and ideas made this an easy start into a wide open arena of possibilities. The minis are just beyond words on the attention to detail. Even if you never play a game the ability to display the minis is worth the cost.

I love table top gaming! My favorite game has been Risk, Risk 2210 AD, and Battlemasters. This game has replaced all of those as my favorite! If your on the fence about this one...jump! Get it! You won't regret it!

In terms of gameplay, this game is very good. What I like most about it is that it is simple to learn yet requires strategic thinking to master. What I like least about it is the amount of maneuvering that is necessary and the sometimes arcane upgrade card combos that appear in competitive play. Quality-wise, these figures are top-notch. They are very well sculpted and painted. The sculpts actually resemble the ships from the Star Wars movies. One thing I would add is that FFG's Customer Service is very helpful, so in the unlikely event you get a dud figure, FFG will usually replace it for free. The price for this game is decent. You will only get a taste of this game with this core set. The matchup of 2x TIE Fighter vs. 1x X-Wing will get stale quickly, requiring you to get expansions. However, the price for this core set isn't too bad compared to the cost of other games. The price of expansions is also mostly reasonable (around $10 for smaller expansions and $30 for bigger ones). The value for this set is good. Here, you get 3 ships + dice + tokens + cards. Just the three ships alone is worth around $30 if bought separately (and the core set includes pilot cards that are unique to the core set). All in all, I recommend this item. 4.5/5.

I'm just going to go right ahead and say it: X-Wing Miniatures is THE best product of it's kind on the market today. OK, I know that's a controversial thing to say and not everyone will agree, but as an avid wargamer I've played a lot a different games over the years, and this is the only one I've come across that gets everything right. The game mechanics are are a work of genius. Even if you're completely new to tabletop gaming it won't take you long to learn how ships move, shoot and take damage, and the templates used for moving and shooting help the game flow very smoothly. However, that's not to say it lacks depth, planning you're movement requires you to think ahead and second guess your opponent to line up the best shots, meaning that even if you're just playing with the stripped down 'quick-start' rules its tactically challenging and fun. 'Easy to learn, difficult to master' is certainly an apt description of this game. Then there's the miniatures themselves. They are outstanding! The level of detail is very high and each one comes pre-painted and ready to use, so unlike nearly every other game of its type X-Wing Miniatures requires no craft knives, clippers, glue or paint to get started (of course, if you really want to you can repaint your ships for that personal touch). Similarly, the cards and other accessories that come with the game are well laid out and feature stunning artwork, which all comes together to make the who gaming experience aesthetically very pleasing. Then, the factor that really ties it all together: ITS STAR WARS! Not only is the game set in a universe which most people know and love (making it instantly more accessible than a lot of tabletop games), it actually *feels* like Star Wars when you play! However, one thing I would recommend if you really want to get into this game is to get two of the core sets, Not only will it give you more ships to play with (at a lower cost than buying them separately), but you'll also have a spare rule book, counters and templates just in case you lose something, plus as many dice as you will ever need.
