This is the game that introduced me to FFG or Fantasy Flight Gaming, and it has been a wonderful journey since buying it. This game encapsulates perfectly the idea of dog fighting in space with star fighters. It is a game that rewards skill through maneuvering and planning out how to build you squad, and luck through the attack and defense dice as well as the critical effect damage cards. This box includes both Luke Skywalker and R2-D2 allowing you to play out your Star Wars star fighter based fantasies. If you are a fan of Star Wars and the Galactic Civil War period this is the game for you as some of your favorite ships, pilots, heroes and villains all participate in a galactic dog fight. I can't recommend this product enough, even with the new Episode 7 version of the starter set.

If you have a buddy to play with this game is fantastic. While this is just the starter pack be prepared to spend considerably more money as you get into this. I am not complaining but it is a fact. Some people say to buy two starter packs but I would recommend one of these and one of the new "the force awakens" starter sets. Different ships different mods and pilots and you still get the extra dice (which really aren't extra as you will use them) along with all the other items that come in the sets. Again fantastic game, but be prepared as you will probably buy everything of a faction in the first month or so if you get the bug. Fly casual.

Have played many tabletop minis games over the years, but this has quickly become a favorite. Games are fast but tactical. You can try out new lists easily and with so many options available it doesn't become predictable. As other reviews have noted, there is a new starter set out for the new TFA models. However, this set is still a good deal just for the included minis. Plus there are some unique pilots/upgrades in this set. you'll need an extra pack of dice anyway, so best option is buy one of each starter and have some extra templates spare. Highly recommend this game system, really fun.

For the price this is a game that can't be beat. Top quality on the build of the cards and miniatures. The game itself is fairly easy to learn but opens up to be very complex as expansions are added.

The Core Set is an Excellent Value. You get 3 ships that will continue to be used, even after buying expansion packs, along with everything needed to learn the game! X-Wing is the best table top game currently on the market!

This miniature game is excellent, the sculpts are great, let you have a lot of choices between star fighters, or huge ships like destroyers or even the millennium flacon, this are excellent additions for any miniature game aficionado or any Star wars fan, the single figures and sets are really at a great price relay this is a must have.

I have played many games through the years, and i have geared more towards strategy games. I have played magic, Pokemon, hero-clicks and much more, however, i found star wars x-win miniature my favorite by far! Its never ending fun with so many things you can do with the game and its super easy to understand unlike some other miniature games

The original boxed set rules have been superseded by The Force Awakens box set, but this is still a great value. The miniatures are fantastic, with great details. Gameplay is fast, and fairly easy to learn. Small games can be played in 30 minutes or less, and it doesn't take hours to learn the rules. The only reason I gave only 4 stars for quality is that the tokens and maneuver dials will likely wear as time goes by. It would have been better if Fantasy Flight Games had made those out of plastic instead of dense cardboard. But I suppose there are plenty of third party options to replace the original tokens, and there are ways to make the maneuver dials more wear-resistant.
