I got into this because I was already familiar with Wings of War, but personally I like this game a lot better. More upgrades, dozens of different ships, recognizable characters, simple but also strategic gameplay. Definitely worth it!

X-Wing is the miniatures game for casual types looking to get into tabletop. It's core rules mechanics are simple, while the ship/squad customization adds complexity for those looking for a more in-depth game. The pre-painted models are almost always high quality and need no modifications to look good on the tabletop. The tokens and cards are durable and the starter gives you everything you need to play. You do NOT need to make further purchases unless you want to expand the amount of ships and options at your disposal. The downsides are that, personally, for a more "balanced" game you would do better to have two z-95's and two tie fighters paired up. This starter also does not do much for anyone wanting to start the scum and villiany faction. Additionally, it really doesn't come with enough dice so you end-up buying an extra dice pack.

My uncle called me up and said, "do you like stars wars?". I said "of course!!" went over and played it once and was hook. Starts off easy then can get extremely complicated. But in a good way. There are so many different strategies to this game. The one bad thing is that this game can get very expensive. There are a lot of expansions and you want all of them.

As a new player to table top gaming, we really enjoy this one. The miniatures look fantastic and once you get the rules down it is a fun star wars adventure. If you are new to this game, be sure to carefully read the instruction book. I lightly read it thinking its thin and how hard could this be? Its all in the wording. The mechanics make sense and are easy enough to get the pattern after a few games. There is some strategy in this game and it isn't just all to the dice roll, which I like. Every session plays differently and it is possible to come up from behind to win the game in an epic battle.

I have been playing X-wing for about a year now and it really is one of the best miniature games I've played. I have introduced a few friends of mine to the game and they enjoy it as well, two of them aren't even Star Wars fans. The models are well made, but you have to be careful with the X-wings, the laser canons are fragile, and that is my only complaint. The game is easy to pick up and hard to put down. And since Fantasy Flight has been putting out expansions pretty regularly, it keeps the game fresh.

The miniatures are awesome in this, and in the expansion packs. It's a shame they use cardboard for so many of the other game components. The gameplay is pretty good but a bit too Rock-Paper-Scissors. And (again) the reliance on cardboard makes this more a board game than a miniatures game

This game is a lot of fun to play. You are not bogged down with record-keeping but at the same time the game is not overly simplistic either. The minis look great and all but the X-wing laser cannons are sturdy. The rules are fairly simple to learn but the game has tactical depth once you start playing larger battles. This game strikes that perfect balance of depth and fun!

Simply stunning production values! The game play is fun and compelling, Great for beginners of miniatures games and great for veteran players as well. The balance of the ships in game play is perfect, really fun and great looking. No draw backs to this one, get your self a copy even if you're only a little interested.
