At an amazing price, you get everything you need to play the game. My first couple of games were played just with this set. It is a great base to start from. Even if you don't buy anymore ships this set is still cheaper than most board games and can be played over and over.

Amazing 2v2 combat game set in Star Wars universe. I tried and failed to use it with casual players, bcs of it's complexity, but for hardcore gamers that get draged into this, it provides withenless strategy and possibilities to mix and mash! X-wing comunities are big around he Globe, but the "movement" is just getting heated up! There are Store, Regional, National and World tournaments with loads of people playing the game. Try it, but try more than a base game...

The obvious starting point is that the models are extremely well modeled, and rightly so as access to the original filming props used in A New Hope were used to 3d model these miniatures. For the veteran tabletop gamer, the price for what you get is astounding. 3 pre-painted miniatures including everything you need to play the game for only $40? Compared to Warhammer 40K, that's an absolute steal. For the uninitiated, even, $40 for an indepth board game with an endless supply of expansions is definitely palatable as well. Everyone who i've gotten to play X-Wing with me was hooked on the spot. It's intoxicating, it really is. Buy this game. You won't regret it.

X-WIng is by far my favorite board game, the miniatures look amazing and the versatility makes game play challenging and fun. Well done Fantasy Flight!!!

Fantasy Flight provides an amazing miniatures combat game based in the Star Wars universe. With the core, 2 players duke it out as a Rebel X-Wing and Imperial TIE Fighters (2). Miniature details and component is top notch (can we expect anything less of FFG?) and includes Luke and Biggs as pilots for the Rebellion. The Core includes everything you need to get started. My only gripe with this Core Set is that it only contains just enough stuff to get you started. The mechanics are excellent, but there is something to be said about not being able to get the "full" game experience without having to pick up expansions. While, yes, you can play a game out of the box, the possible (viable) combinations are very limited and may become stale fairly quick. FFG includes missions to keep it fresh, but these are also limited to 3 in the core. This means that if you like the game, you will be buying expansions - and boy does FFG have some amazing expansions to offer! It does add up (most expansions cost $10-15), but each expansions adds pilot variety and upgrades. Quite simply, an amazing game with amazing mechanics. Fun to play!

I picked up two packs of the core set, not knowing that there was a new one to be released, to this day, I do not regret it. I've only had x-wing for a month. Played a few games with friends, we absolutely love it, after buying this set I don't know where to stop with so many expansions. 10/10

I am in love with this game. Really fun and very challenging while also being 'easy' (insert air quotes) enough to teach to new players. If you are still debating on whether to get the game, watch the National Championships on youtube it will show you what the game is about.
