Be carefull. Offer a good price then try and alter stuff. I am 42 years old been driving since I was 17. I said I had 20 years no claims. I have never made a claim. My previous insurer only sent out 10 years no claims. So 1st wanted an extra £78 plus £50 admin fee. Ridiculous. So I said I wanted to cancel the policy. For the 3 weeks I had been with them they wanted £14 plus £50 setup and £50 cancellation disgusting. They offer a cheap price then change you to the hills

Not a great experience! Unable to access account due to having a former policy. 1 month into it (after 14 day cooling off period) I am asked to upload proof of no claims (not a problem), to which I emailed due to account access problems. Then I get a phone call asking me my occupation to which I'm told it's now been updated and they require an £82 payment :-0 even though technically I'm doing a similar role. In theory you shouldn't have insured me before if my job role does not come under what you deem my "occupation". Phone lines disconnect for complaints, no response option via email, your agent had to file a complaint for me and I was told 3 days resolution.. I then received email saying up to 6-8 weeks.. still getting reminders of the payment you will take out of my account even though I said I wasn't paying it. I provide a headed letter from employer explaining job details after another agent of yours did not want me to leave and himself requested this - provided following day - no response! I chase you up a week later to be told "we can't open word documents, can you change it to pdf"? No, sorry I can't, what absolute nonsense! Such an awful experience. Unfortunately I would rather pay the £50 to leave than £82 to stay.. and I should have fought that really! A lot of your reviews mentioned these random charges before I took out the policy and I ignored them due to my first experience being good... now I struggle to see these reviews here today and instead they are good after putting in claims! Utter utter shame as even your staff seamed to completely understand my situation and were lovely on the phone yet nothing resolved and customers patience was eventually lost.. !

Stay away from these scammers. They give a great price, but after 14 days (the period when I could cancel the insurance for free) they sent me an email saying I had provided incorrect information which is certainly not true. They tried to charge me £250 for the changes. Very cheeky people who earn money for changes and cancellations. Cancelation + 1-month insurance cost me £126. I have never had such a bad experience with any insurance company before. I DO NOT RECOMMEND insurance with them.

Got home with new car, tried to update policy, wouldn't let me, not allowed on my policy? Tried to phone, office shut! Up till early hrs of morning trying to sort it out, ended up having to cancel account go through compare the market to open a new account! Thank god the car didn't get clapped as I would have sent you the bill! It is not easy to update a policy even though your site claims it is! Actual it seems impossible! I only came back to you as it was the cheapest, I wonder why?

Extremely poor communication from both customer services and policy analysis. Every single time I contact Inger different answers, different reasons why they have upper my quite 1 month after I've paid it. They say I owe an extra £258 (well now £208 for taking away the admin fee), still a huge amount of money which some don't even know why this much from policy analysis. I have had to contact a financial ombudsman as they keep saying if I don't pay either they'll take money from my recorded card (which shouldn't even be saved) or they'll cancel my insurance.

Awful experience Cancelled my insurance as I didn’t upload my no claims bonus certificate I’m not even sure this is a legitimate company Avoid at all costs Pathetic phone line that no one answers for about 30 mins .

Quite possibly the worst insurance company ive had the displeasure of dealing with. Automatically renewed a policy i didnt want renewed and refused to refund the money until i provided proof the vehicle had been sold. Spoke to someone whim blamed me for not calling earlier and was then informed i could turn off the automatically renewal in the portal. When asking where this option is in the portal so i could do this with other policies that i have the response was "i dont know im not trained in the portal". So another half hour wasted on the phone, now to go get proof i sold my own car and then to spend another half hour on the phone to get my money refunded.

The category of my work is not in the list of occupations so I chose the closest one. Over 30 days later they call me and tell me i need to pay them another £100 because i had chosen the wrong category. Then when i tried to cancel the policy they wanted £97 cancellation fee. I feel robbed and ripped off Be careful before you choose these rip off merchants

Absolutely appalling service. They failed to provide me with courtesy car for which I’m paying extra. Each time I contact them I’m told that it is the garage’s fault and to contact the garage. The garage tells me right opposite and sends me back to the insurance. Several times I’ve been told that so and so will contact me and nobody does. I’ve been without a car over a week, I am suffering loss of earnings, I am experiencing great deal of inconvenience and distress. What’s the purpose of paying for insurance if you don’t provide the services. I will not be renewing with your insurance, I’m absolutely appalled!

After taking out a policy I was asked for documents to be sent to clarify information. I had made a small error when completing the info (different purchase date). They charged me an admin fee of £50 to amend this which I completely appreciate I am liable for for my small mistake. What I don't understand and find disgusting, is the fact that the premium went up significantly just because of a small change of the purchase date which makes no difference to my ability to drive/car value etc. Very disappointed!! Both myself and my partner insure with this company and definitely won't be renewing next year!! Avoid.

My experience with 1stcental is not good. On the phone I been told there is no extra fee for cancellation. When I cancelled monthly payed (£86 for a month) policy they charged me £289 extra for cancelling monthly policy whitch I been told wouldn't cost me. Scumbag insurance company. I dont recommend...

DO NOT INSURE WITH THIS COMPANY. You’ve probably noticed the review rate is positive at 76% and all the comments about the cheap premiums and how good they are at calling you back to take your money…However, be warned, if like me you are involved in an accident BEWARE!! I was involved in a non fault accident, their approved garage had my car for 12 weeks, after 11 weeks, and me chasing them constantly AD Williams in Enfield finally decided to answer the phone, only to tell me they hadn’t started the repairs. A few days later I receive a call, the car is complete. The car gets driven back to me, as soon as I get in it there’s a rattle. Take it to my local trusted garage only to find out they hadn’t put the bolt back in my front brakes, or had rushed the repair and missed the mechanical damage after impact. I’m basically lucky to be alive. Call 1st Insurance, who pass me round departments, no one wanted to take responsibility. Repairs, then claims, then customer service, only to get cut off. Ive literally spent the last two days on the phone to them and nothing has been resolved. They promise to call you back, and don’t. I’ve had to take my car to another garage and pay for the repairs and checks myself. I never write negative reviews. I don’t want anyone to go through what I have with them. The premiums are cheap for a reason, they use garages no one else would touch, and the staff at 1st Central don’t care.. PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE AND DO NOT INSURE WITH 1ST CENTRAL.

Got an email stating they added another £100 to my policy no explanation why, emailed the policy team 4 days later still no one has responded by email or phone, was on hold 30mins today trying to get through gave up after that. but yet responses on here are done very quickly!!!!!!! What a shocking company

Second review, since it's now over a year since my claim started. Still no contact from the claims department about why the claim is still open after they paid out to me and the other party...but clearly not paid everything because the other party is now taking me to court. 1st Central have never informed me of any decision they have made to pay or not pay to the other party, which is this case they have not informed me that they refused to pay this part of the claim (confirmed in writing to me by the other party after I asked the reason for the court letters) After multiple emails about updates on this the claims department have not responded and the person handling my claim is not available and does not return calls (as she has done for well over a year now). So the claim is still open, they don't update at all on any part of the claim at all unless you hound them and pray they send something that makes sense (which the claims handler in question actually did so bad the last time no one else on the department could make any sense of) but it doesn't matter.. So not sure of the process at moment but Im going to be quite alot more broke having to defend for something this pitiful excuse of an insurance company is meant to deal with and inform the customer that paid in full for the insurance contract. Anyone 5 stars you see on here are from the automated email sent out after your sign with them and is about the sign up easily process. They are not about the utterly useless service you get, Which by the way calls are farmed out to a call center in South Africa and no one actually works for the company as they are a call center. So genuinely please avoid the this company you will regret it. Also for the Two faced appology that some person will return to this review about please don't say your sorry because you genuinely are not and they last time i posted a negative review about this matter someone said sorry and they want to sort this.... nothing happened, not a thing. If you check sites to compare prices, they will be always on top of list. 2 months after you buy the car insurance, they call you and ask for more money as you do not live in the UK since birth. Ridiculous experience ever!!! Do not buy this insurance, they are scammers, liers and biased.

Money taken out of my acc without my knowledge, no emails, no phone calls. 75£ two months after taking car insurance. outrages ! phoned to cancel the insurance as don't want to be with company that steals customer's money and I have been charged 150£ extra!! Arrangement fee £50.00 Admin fee (for making changes during the year) £50.00 Cancellation fee £50.00 never again with this micky mouse company

I have opened the policy with them few month later they asked me for some documents, One of the documents they asked me for is to provide a letter dated all the way back in 2016 or earlier!! Who TF on earth would keep a letter for that long , why would you ? I have managed to find it but they said they don’t accept it . It was NHS they say they will but no ! So i am now waiting for them to cancel my policy. Just try to stay away from those people as far as you can !! Unprofessional customer service!!
