“When I went over my limit, they sent me a letter requesting that I pay the account down below my limit within 10 days (before my due date). When I didn’t, they raised my interest rate from 8% to 30%. Talked to someone, who lowered it back down. However, their systems kept automatically raising it back up. Called again, where they lowered the interest rate again. However, I was told that their systems were automatically going to keep raising my rate back up. Consequently, to not have to deal with that I paid my account down through a debt management program to get my interest rate back down. Now, even 11 years later, they’re still holding it against me will not give me a card even though I paid off the full amount. Be warned that if you do something like this, your credit is ruined forever with this bank.”
“I have had over $2000 in fraudulent purchases on my card, all to CVS.com and all over a period of a few days in November. I have had to call numerous times to discuss this. They constantly reassure me that they will take care of the situation, yet continue to refuse to do so. I have received a $355 credit but there are over 200 fradulent purchases. They are inept and extremely difficult to deal with. As I write this I am on hold AGAIN and have been talking to a representative/on hold for 30 minutes. I will never hold a credit card from this company again.”
“Incompetent! I called them after being affected by Hurricane Ida and let them know I was temporarily out of work because my office had to close due to damage and does not allow telework. I said I'd be able to pay in 3 months. They noted it and said it'd be fine. I called them to make a payment less than three months later and they had closed my account for non-payment but admitted the previous conversation in the notes.
Every time I call to do something basic, they take 20+ minutes. The website would let me confirm thru had my new bank account number and I needed to talk to them. They bounced me around for 30 minutes despite it being a basic question. I asked to confirm auto debit and the guy was confused saying "it's not called auto debit". He knew what o meant. I've gotten better customer service from low budget banks for people with bad credit.”
“My Barclayscard limit was massively reduced down to £150 without any genuine explanation. When I asked them they said the credit agencies have informed them to at I missed a payment. When contacted the credit agencies, they said they was nothing in the report to indicate the same. I then pulled out my credit report to assure myself and couldn’t spot anything either. The complaints department is rubbish. After sharing this experience with my friend, she said they are not goof with their service as she used to work there.”
“Worst customer service. It is no mistake that they are a 1.1 rating. Doesn't get much lower than that. Don't get this card. If you ever have a problem, it is a nightmare to get fixed (or even talk to someone from America that you can understand).”
“I have my Barclay’s card through Old Navy. Horrible service. I tried to use my Old Navy card in the store and was declined for “Social Security number not found.” I called from the store three different times.
1. I was told the declined reason mentioned above was due to past due. I was only 1 week past due but had paid it off! I asked to speak to a Manager. I was put on hold for 30 minutes.
2. I called a second time and was told a second time declined for same reason. When I told the Rep that doesn’t make sense because if the reason “Social Security number wasn’t found” then how were they able to pull up in system? I think she had been reading from some “cue cards” and confused her because the answer to tell me wasn’t on the cue cards so there was a long answer. So I hung up.
3. I called back last time. Spoke to an account manager and she agreed it doesn’t make sense to be declined for their reasoning because my account is in good standing and could see I just made a payment. Finally, I was getting somewhere! However she had spoken to another Manager and for the third time I was declined for past due payment.
I told them that I will close my account as soon as my payment in full clears my bank and I will be firing them by closing out my account.
Old Navy told me this has happened to several customers as well card stating :”Social Security number can’t be found.””
“I have requested copies of old statements (they only provide online access to 2 years back). Have made the same request four times with four different agents, including two managers. The ONLY way to access them is to request, then wait 7-10 for mail to arrive. No email/pdf option. It has now been a month and no sign. Each time I call, the agent says the request was made and they were mailed. So where are they? Somehow all my other mail, including my current Barclays bill, gets to me. This is 2023 - completely ridiculous.”

“Total disaster with American Airline promotion. Canceled our tickets (after charging mileage credits) without notifying us. Applied fees and taxes that are covered. When we inquired told us it was a glitch in their systems.
Cost us additional $850 to reinstate flights with American AA. Have yet to reinstate our points or apply credit to our tickets. Spoke wit numerous parties at both Barclay and AA.
Bottom Line: DO NOT sign up for any promotional cards with Barclay or A-Airlines. Not a single person at either company took any initiative to assist us in getting this corrected. Still waiting for “return” call.”
“This are indeed tough times and to see my card being restricted from withdrawing my money from my account is absolutely unbearable, I made several case to rectify the challenge but I realized my account was restricted.. how sad cause I had not done anything to deserve such treatment.
After more persistence on getting my money I got referred to a lawsuit cyber security attorney whom took up my filed case at RESUC ORG and began to solve my issue within a week I was settled and had full access to my account as well as use my card diligently my $56225 was comfortably in my custody and I wasn't charged a dime to recover my account and money.
I would recommend filing a case with RESUC ORG”
“After offering a 80k promotion point only 50k where granted and refused to grant it. Bad card, bad service, false advertising. Rather close account and affect credit be taken as a fool. BEWARE”
“Completely incompetent - I have 2 Barclay's airlines cards, when I make payments to one of them they post the payment to the wrong card. When I submit payment, I include the correct acct number on the check AND send their statement back with payment. I even cancelled one card and they still credited the payment to that card. Called customer service and it took 3 people to be able to correct this.
Making online payment in full on the open card then cancelling it.”
“BEWARE!! Horrible, Horrible. I never had a problem since 2005 with synchrony bank. Barclay has found a reason to charge me extra every single month! there are no rewards because they nickel and dime you to death and it cost more than any free cloths!!!! 29% interest? are they kidding? I always paid in full and on time, but they found a reason to charge me a fee for something..
I finally cancelled the card, shredded it and sent it back.
PS I have a different account with Barclay and have never had a problem with that account.”

“I recently applied for the Aadvantage Aviator World Elite Business MasterCard and was told they would make a decision in ten Business Days. During the initial application, I spoke with a rep who needed to verify some information and asked me since I have another card with Barclays would I like to use some of the credit (10K) from that card on the new card so I said yes. Thirteen Business Days later I still had not received a decision so I called customer service to get a status. Since I do not have my application ID, I gave my personal information out three times between two customer service representatives only to be told my application is still under review. [Either I am approved or I am not]. I asked for my application number and was told that I could not have my application ID number. I laughed because I just gave you my FN, DOB, ADDR, and SSN but you are unable to give me an arbitrary number so I can avoid having to disclose all my information when I call back. The online application status link states that I have not applied for anything in the past 90 days. So now the CL on my personal card is down 10K and I still don't have a decision on the business card. What annoyed me was the time it took to request a status of an application, not being able to check it online, and the reduction in my CL on an existing card when a new card has not been issued.”
“Barclay is a joke. They manage Old Navy cards. I never got a bill, apparently, they got my address wrong. Within 60 days they sent me to collections. I have never been late on a payment and I have excellent credit score, near 800. Not now, thanks to this unreputable company. They never called me or emailed me. Yet took the time to report me to collections. Simply poorly managed.”
“Horrible! Crooks! I have 7 credit cards. This is my "last resort" card. It has to be a dire emergency for me to use this card. Their interest rates should be illegal. And, if you have a problem, GOOD LUCK. Their customer service reps are based in foreign countries. Difficult to communicate. Their favorite response..."we will mail you a letter". Horrible. “Worst cc . Everymonth I pay my card in full the day it arrives . Every month they show it late and not received 3 weeks after it was mailed sometimes 5 weeks. I have to cancel the check and pay over the phone. They ask every question about how it was paid , but don’t accept that the problem is on their end. Don't know what they do processing checks but its a mess.
