Got my carnival card, made my first purchase as instructed to get the 20,000 points, called in to change points to a $200.00 on board credit for my cruise I will be taking and call barclay to have my points changed and NOW they are telling me that I have to wait 2 weeks until first bill comes in so they can switch it to on board credit, I will already be on my cruise... Don't believe what the representative tells you on the phone!!!

Reopened my account after it was closed 2 yrs ago without my knowledge. Gave me a large amount of credit and charged me a $79 annual fee. This should be considered illegal and if I had not opened my junk email I would not have had any knowledge of this account. They used my old account # and reopened it. It showed up on my credit report as an open account two days before I discovered it.

I currently have the Jetblue Barclay's Mastercard. In September during labor day weekend, someone hacked my Walmart account and placed two orders each over $300 and sent the items to my address. I was on vacation and was not even home to retrieve the items. Additionally, I was in a remote location where service was interrupted. When I noticed that my account was hacked through various text messages from Walmart, I immediately called Jetblue and claimed the orders as fraud. They took the charges off my credit card and said they would be opening an investigation. Two billing cycles later, one of the charges appeared back onto my credit card for $380. It took a week of calling Jetblue and calling Walmart to have the matter investigated. Each time I spoke with a customer rep from Barclay's, they told me something different each time- you can't call the fraud department, you can call the fraud department, you can't have it reinvestigated, we're opening a reinvestigation. It was back and forth and you can tell that the reps were reading off scripts. I had better customer service from Walmart when I opened an investigation on their end as well. Finally, after 5 separate calls to different departments, I was pushed through to a senior account representative named Richard. Richard was the first person I had spoken to who seemed genuine in helping me. He looked into the matter and verified the information I was able to provide based on the fraudulent transaction. He resolved my issue within an hour. I have now set up alerts for every transaction and a limit for the card as I do not feel Barclay's protects their customers when it comes to fraudulent use. I do not feel that Barclay's protects their consumers the way I have seen other credit card companies do. I'm only keeping the card as I have to travel home for the holidays and earning the miles towards flights is of great importance to me. The only reason I'm giving the card two stars is due to customer service I gratefully received from Richard in account services.

Their policy regarding security questions which they use all the time makes it almost impossible to operate online if you had an account previously. That is because they keep the record of your answers from the past so you have to remember exactly how you answered those questions, which in my case was from six years ago. Nobody really could tell me how to do a security question reset. I could tell that it would make using the account online next to impossible. Nobody really seemed concerned. Of course, I should have known better as I gave up the card six years ago because I was told I might have to answer security questions each time I tried to use the app. I call all the security surrounding just doing ordinary things online a mania, in many cases, but Barclays almost seems to be in a class by itself. They certainly don't appear to see the conundrum that I was in. Not a card I can deal with!

I traveled internationally and let them know ahead of time. Because my international call service plan didn’t work, I had no way to use the internet or my phone to make calls or payments. Then I called when I returned home and tried to get the interest charge reembursed and they said they couldn’t do it because it was a valid charge. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she said they couldn’t do it as a courtesy, (no it was an error not a favor,) because they had already done one 6 months prior. That instance had been an error THEY made but they acted like both times were my fault. It was only a 51 dollar charge but to me who’s poor every dollar matters. Worst experience.

My card was compromised and they promised next day delivery for my new card and it took 4 days. I had to leave two days after their promised next day delivery so now I’m without my credit card for 6 weeks.

Incompetent! I called them after being affected by Hurricane Ida and let them know I was temporarily out of work because my office had to close due to damage and does not allow telework. I said I'd be able to pay in 3 months. They noted it and said it'd be fine. I called them to make a payment less than three months later and they had closed my account for non-payment but admitted the previous conversation in the notes. Every time I call to do something basic, they take 20+ minutes. The website would let me confirm thru had my new bank account number and I needed to talk to them. They bounced me around for 30 minutes despite it being a basic question. I asked to confirm auto debit and the guy was confused saying "it's not called auto debit". He knew what o meant. I've gotten better customer service from low budget banks for people with bad credit.

I recently applied for the Aadvantage Aviator World Elite Business MasterCard and was told they would make a decision in ten Business Days. During the initial application, I spoke with a rep who needed to verify some information and asked me since I have another card with Barclays would I like to use some of the credit (10K) from that card on the new card so I said yes. Thirteen Business Days later I still had not received a decision so I called customer service to get a status. Since I do not have my application ID, I gave my personal information out three times between two customer service representatives only to be told my application is still under review. [Either I am approved or I am not]. I asked for my application number and was told that I could not have my application ID number. I laughed because I just gave you my FN, DOB, ADDR, and SSN but you are unable to give me an arbitrary number so I can avoid having to disclose all my information when I call back. The online application status link states that I have not applied for anything in the past 90 days. So now the CL on my personal card is down 10K and I still don't have a decision on the business card. What annoyed me was the time it took to request a status of an application, not being able to check it online, and the reduction in my CL on an existing card when a new card has not been issued.

Customer Services issues. I signed up for the Upromise bonus and when I tried to use the bonus, it says account isn't linked to an eligible college account. Now the Upromise account has the accounts linked but Barclays can't? I wrote Customer Service, I chatted with customer service, I called them. The email- no response. A week later when chatting I got nowhere and only "robo responses" when I called- they said their system was down and to call back. How sad for Barclays and the Upromise business and the companies that it is trying to do business for.

Have Barclays Wyndam card. Sign on bonus point offer very good. Have encountered a horrible experience in disputing a non delivery of an order with company going out of business. Almost two months post filing of dispute, with no account credit. Scripted response of still under investigation,no explanation as to delay or possible resolution?!

I recently made two charges for hotels outside the US. Even though I told Barclaycard I would be outside the country during that time period and what countries I would be in they nevertheless blocked these two relatively small charges. In addition to phoning them to get my card unlocked I had to phone the hotel booking agency to put the charges through again. I don't recommend using them internationally though they have been fine within the US.

Have not since April 2020 been able to get resolution on credit card dispute. Not because of complexity but because Barclay has not started investigation into dispute. Impossible to talk with someone that can make discussions. Always told someone will contact you next 7-14 days. Company is a joke.

They where fine until I had a dispute on my card for merchandise that I never received. All my attempts and there’s could not get ahold of the merchant that I order from off Facebook to find out why I never got my items. And they still are making me pay for the items. No protection I will be canceling my card once it is paid off.

Not a good company..they consider Paypal as a cash advance and charge you a fee. Their customer service is awful and only send you copy-paste replies.

Beware if you only pay the minimum payment required. After many years with Barclay Card, I received a letter informing me my credit limit has been reduced by £3,500 because I have only been paying the minimum amount required. That will affect my credit score as it now appears I have maxed out my card.

Ridiculously complicated sign in procedure, get it wrong twice and it locks you out. Appalling 'Customer Service' from badly trained and disinterested 'overseas' staff, many of them with such strange accents as to make them difficult to understand, and all delivered over a poor line.
