I wish there was a way to put in negative stars because I would give Barclay -1,000. NEVER use them!! They took out a double payment (same day, exact same amount) and say that it was my fault. The double payment left is without any money for several days. It took my bank's lawyers to finally get them to return my money. Barclay would never admit that this was an error on their part. I have been a loyal cardholder/ customer for more than 15 years. To top it off, they then charged me a $30 fee for returning the money that they double took from my account. According to them, they can not return the $30. As I look at the reviews below, this same thing has happened several times. Bottomline....It is just plain stealing!!!

It’s beyond ridiculous to charge interest when a card is paid in full. After repaying 18k + and you putting a hold on my card for 7 days for payment to process you should not be charging me interest. Entirely dishonest and thieving!

Typically I would not post a review because who really gives a sh$t anymore but recently BarClays really irritated me on some fraud charges. It started out simple enough as I was completing an on line search for DVD shelves. Yeah, I still have DVD’s and BlueRay movies and while I only watch them when Wi-Fi goes out the collection is too extensive to trash. Anyhow, can across a site called “Cossco” and was wowed by the price as they were advertising the shelves I googled for half the price! Yup, made the purchase and received a Fraud Alert which prompted me to contest the charge and I immediately got online to review the charge and contact the Fraud Department. Upon review, I noticed two additional charges for $75.00 each titled CherryGold which I did not make. When I finally made contact with Customer Service I explained what just occurred, contested the Cossco charge and mentioned the two charges to CherryGold as not mine and they must be connected to the first charge. Supporting this claim as told by the CSR was the two additional charges were made two seconds after the “Cossco” charge. All totaled, I was looking at $300 in fraudulent charges. This is where things started getting crazy, their CSR team is now handled oversees and we just had trouble understanding each other with the CSR rep telling me to call the vendors and get them to reverse the charges; however, as I mentioned earlier, the first websites contact process went no where, just blank email form and no phone number. The other two charges I could not locate a vendor with their name on the internet!?! Finally I was transferred to the Fraud Department and again same miscommunication where they just did understand what I was telling them and how the three charges were all part of this scam. Anyhow, formally claimed all three as fraud and even went as far to file a complaint with the US State Department, as well as, sent BarClays a letter with all the details to their fraud department at their headquarters in Delaware. I received a return letter indicating the “Cossco” charge as fraud with charges removed. However, they informed me the other two charges would stick and I owe $150 plus interest. WTF….???? I guess the real scam was the two charges to CherryGold with the first transaction as bait knowingly fraud with the follow-up as the real got-Ya! Barclays was a disappointment, as they just decided not to really look into the claim. How on earth could I make two additional charges to another vendor two seconds after I submitted my payment info on the “Cossco” fraud site? Been a card member for well over ten years but I’m just one of many so there goes it. Plan is to cancel the card. Oh, bye the way, yesterday I received a pair of Gucci Sunglasses via US Mail which I did not order, nor wear due to my need for prescription lenses. Clearly they are knock-offs but I could not help but wonder if this part of the scam, charge $75 dollars twice and show a transaction occurred. The CSR indicated the CherryGold charge was from Singapore which is easy to tie together. Good luck out there, TRUST no one!

Negative-100 Stars Been a customer for over a year paid the card off and never used it for 6 months. Finally decided to use it to book a trip, a month later made a 1k payment which was returned for unknown reason and they charged me $30 for the return. I called and asked it to be removed but no we can't to that they said. I told them I will go ahead and pay the account off and close it that's when they made a deal to remove the monthly interest I agreed. I opened the app and made another 1k payment which in a week was returned again along with another $30 charge. I called again and to no avail received no help just "we can't remove any charges on your account" I will be paying this account off and will be canceling the account. The company is complete garbage and will not do anything to help there customers. I will be staying with my Discover and credit one at least they work with their customers to make sure they keep customers.

Opened a dispute on a purchase where the online business closed shop and didn’t respond to emails soon after purchase. I proactively contacted Barclays, was told i was declined because it was before the estimated delivery date. Attempted to dispute again AFTER the estimated delivery date (when it still hasn’t even been shipped), and was told in order to reopen the case, i now have to send PHYSICAL DOCUMENTS TO THEM TO REVIEW.

Terrible - they will screw you on the promotional balance transfers. You will get no warning that the promotional period is expiring. DO NOT USE THIS CARD FOR A BALANCE TRANSFER.

Spent an hour on the phone trying to speak to someone, finally got through to to be told its going to be a 4 day wait because of the bank holiday weekend but today is Thurs and my request was on Wed? Yet the money transfer appeared on my credit card instantly? Off to another bank, Loyalty 34 years meant nothing

Spent years in banking and and a year around credit card. I simply can see no benefit or investing your banking profile management in Barclays.. Basically waste of time. Can't provide you anything but Statements. All of the feature I've tried only said 'Not available on your account'.. Do not spend your time to build your bank profile. Completely useless.

I pay on time (several days BEFORE the due date) every month and I have to message them regularly to get interest removed. Its such a pain. Will be cancelling the card. The travel points are truly not worth the headache. This company is really bad... I've had the card for almost 10 years. They were fine in the beginning, but this has now been an ongoing issue for years. Will be cancelling once I get my credits applied from yet again false "late payment" charges they have snuck onto my last statement...

Avoid this card because if you ever fall into financial trouble they will not help you in regards reduced monthly payments until you ruin your credit and not make payments for over 60 days then they will help you . Other lenders will help you by reducing your payments and interest for at least 3 months so that you can catch up financially and avoid bad credit report . BUT NO BARCLAYCARD. SMH

I am a senior citizen, and I have had many credit cards and still do. Barclays credit cards are the worst to deal with that I've ever experienced in terms of Fraud and scams. Even with proof, they still continue to hold your responsible. They will not protect you and it's a huge hassle to deal with their fraud department.

i am extremly upset with barclaycard they suspend my card with out letting me know any reason and even if there is a reason, why did you not let me know anything about it, not by post and not by email i just had a look on Trustpilot an i see that i am not the only one with bad experience with Barclaycard, most people are not happy. first of all you blocked my card long before you sent a letter about fraud, and you did not let me know about it and then came the letter saying please contact us about to make sure its you, so i have contacted so many times and because of network we couldn't hear each other so why do you not call me back why do i have to go threw the long wait till i speak to some one??? and i spoke to one of your college's before and they told me some funny reason why it was suspended the reason was from Barclaycards end and they did not let me know about it not by post and not by email. on the letter it did not say '’if it is not resolved till a certain date it will be suspended’’, just please contact us its something a have never heard of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a Old Navy Visa with Synchrony for many years and no problem then received a letter stating that Synchrony would no longer be the bank for the Old Navy Visa and it would change to Barclay World Mastercard. I had requested that my credit limit only be a $3000 limit and went on a cruise with this card and was charged WAY WAY beyond my credit limit without my permission. Tried disputing charges and they stated I could not dispute after about 5 months of sending documentation to them and when they stated I had a good grounds for a dispute at first. They stated that they allowed this to go way over the credit limit because I was a good customer and paid my bill on time and more than minimum owed. This is what I really think why they allowed this because the cruise line that we went on also is a customer of Barclay and Barclay holds their credit card also so they allowed this because they could up our limit on the cruise and also help the cruise company make more money and they also would make more money from interest if not paid in full right away. What a SCAM. When talking to them they said it is on the back of every statement "No Pre-Set Spending Limit." Please read this because this could get you in trouble. I am older and never have had any cc company that can just up the credit limit in certain situations if they want to and you have no say so!! BEWARE OF THIS CARD!!! I will never do business with Barclay again!!! I truly would not rate them any stars if I could!!!
