Over the last 3 years I’ve tried to order from Blacks website a couple of times. Each time my order was processed, money taken, then a couple of days later I’ve received an e-mail cancelling my order due to the unavailability of stock at the time of 'picking' the items at the warehouse. The items are still showing as available to order following the cancellation email I received yesterday.

Complete shambles of a company. Store staff can be brilliant, but the customer service operation was created by an amateur. Avoid like the plague.

I will never use blacks.co.uk again. After much chasing and then receiving miscommunication from Blacks, the parcel eventually arrived 6 weeks after the purchase date. In addition, some of the received items were sent incorrectly, which basically means the order was never completed and requires more of my time to resolve this matter. This review is very brief to what has actually happened and doesn't detail the multiple and continued mistakes made by Blacks' service. For example, whilst typing this an email has been received to instruct me to pick up the parcel that has already been collected. Simply shocking!

Awful company. Shopped online.. they sent me wrong items. I contacted them, and was informed to return wrong items using my own time and money?? INCOMPETENT THIEVES... no refund for goods bought.. absolutely shocking. NB Millets are also part of this dodgy outfit.. BEWARE.

Appalling customer service. I had to return an item sent to me because it was faulty. The returns policy states they will refund any returns postage for faulty items. I used the link on the Black's website that led me to a collect plus label that cost £2.99. I asked for a replacement item to be sent. I did not receive a replacement item and only received a refund for the item. When I contacted blacks to ask for a refund for my returns postage they refused as they said I did not notify them within 14 days that the item was faulty. The item was delivered on the 7th September and my refund for the item processed on the 19th September this is only 12 days and it stated on the returns form that the item was faulty. When I contacted them again to point this out they still refused to refund my postage because they said they had no proof I had said the item was faulty. But this was stated on the returns form. This company is refusing to comply with their own returns policy. Safe to say I will not using this company or their associated companies ever again. Such a poor way to treat a customer who has spent a lot of money with you over the years!

Twice I’ve ordered from Blacks in the last couple of months, twice they’ve debited the amount, twice I’ve then had an e-mail cancelling my order, apparently it’s a rare occurrence. I must be lucky

Have sometimes shopped in store with Blacks and receive emails from them. I'm now changing my email address. Banks and other financial institutions, and other retailers have an option on their web site to enable this. Not Blacks, or Go Outdoors who are part of the same group. Their response is "we are unable to change your email address for customer security reasons". Totally crazy. Definitely a Black listed attitude. Interesting that in the response timescale on these reviews the options jump from "6-12 hours" to "over a week". So anywhere between 1 and 7 days can't be submitted!

We was on our to Wales to go camping for a week and we had to call at Shrewsbury, as it turned out we had forgotten some important parts to our camping equipment. The manager of Blavks in Shrewsbury was very helpful and it has been the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. He went above and beyond his duty to customers.

Excellent customer service in the Eastbourne store this morning. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful assistant. Nothing was too much trouble. Will return there again when needing any outdoor equipment.

Review update - even worse than before Review update - meant to pick up a tent on 29th at Dorchester to go camping this week. Not there - staff at store tell me to sort it out. I ask them to sort while I get a hotel. By end of day I email customer care and get an automated response indicating they will sort issue within 24 hours - I send several emails to customer care. I buy a tent from another retailer on the 1st August so we can go camping. No response over 2 days. I get an automated email from blacks on the 1 august stating if the issue is not resolved then they are working hard to solve it - the cheek of this outfit!

Going camping yesterday with my family of 4 ... go to pick up tent which has been confirmed as being at Dorchester ... It's not. Stay in hotel for two nights - store don't care - customer care have not even responded after 36 hours - seriously how hard would it be to send another tent!

Organised a tent to be picked up in Dorchester on the 29th July. We are going camping 30th to 4th. Family of 4. Been texted that tent is there. It's not ... store manager tells me it's my problem. Email customer care - automated response tells me they will sort out it 24 hours..joke - after 36 hours they have not responded :) beware blacks!!!

Blacks customer service team deleted my emails without reading them. I recently made a complaint to the Blacks customer service team and set a read receipt on my email. A few hours later and I get confirmation that the email was deleted without reading. Blacks denied doing this stating that their email system may have caused an error in the read receipt message. A company not to be trusted

Don't ever try and return an item, they will give you the run around, delete your emails before reading and keep changing their story to avoid paying a refund. WtW they are owned by JDSports. customer service is shocking

The operation these guys run is bordering on illegal. Promises made, orders taken (on three separate occasions) only to be followed up with a cancellation. No business can survive long on that basis and I don't want to run the risk of being caught in the middle of a messy liquidation. Besides, I value my time rather more than they seem to value their business...

Spend a lot in this store however still trying to get a refund on an item sent back and received on 11/6/19. Have emailed them, tried calling but keep getting cut off!

Absolutely awful service from blacks.co.uk. it's like going back to the dark ages. Firstly you can not see whether a shop has stock of what you want and reserve it. Ordering was simple but it took 5 days for them to tell me they had stock in the warehouse and are dispatching it to the store of my choice. I'm now 25 days on from the order date, 20 days since dispatch to store and still no sign of my '2 Maps' !! I emailed customer services 6 times and have just got another automated email telling me that 'they need more time to answer my enquiry' ! Terrible service in this on line ordering age, cant see how a company like this can survive without modernising and communicating with their customers. Not happy at all !

Parcel left outside apparently and no sign of it when I returned home. Had not given details or permission for a safe place because none available. No option to have delivered to work or alternative address. Ridiculous! Awaiting a 28 day 'investigation' Avoid.
