2 stars because the folk on the shopfloor are excellent, but as soon as you deal with Customer Service and on-line returns a total nightmare. * 3 separate on-line orders split between me and my wife. Returned in the shop. Have been waiting for 1, 1.5 and 2 months respectively to get a refund. Have been to the shop 6 times!! Customer service refused to send confirmation email of the status of refund. Was told every time I just had to wait for 3-5 business days. * Bought a pair of sealskin WATERPROOF gloves. These should be able to withstand a normal rain shower. They don't and so it doesn't what it says on the tin, hence it is my customer right to return the faulty item. Blacks refused to take back the item because it was no longer in the original packaging! So am I expected to keep the little plastic hook that keeps the two gloves together in a drawer in case it turns out the gloves are not waterproof?

No delivery dates after one week, automated email, Cust Care no help either. Buy elsewhere!

Ordered pictures online and 5 of them arrived with black marks and white smudge type marks on them. Called and was told I would get an email and to reply with photos to show the marks. No email. I have sent an email to customer service with the photos. No reply yet!

I have had a frustrating experience buying a product from Blacks online. They accepted my order for a sleeping bag, even though it soon became clear it was out of stock - not dispatched etc. This was no good as I needed it within a couple of weeks. I attempted to cancel the order but you can not do this. I waisted so much time trying to cancel the order and also try and find out what was going on, why there was a delay in dispatching, and how long the delay might be, but getting any information was impossible. All you get are computer generated emails saying things like 'some items are taking longer than normal', and 'Our Warehouse Staff are working hard to complete your order'. I even emailed Customer Services, to ask to cancel the item and find out why there was a delay, and all I got was an automated email reply saying they would get back to me - which they did not. I have since contacted them again, expressing my frustration - all I received was another automated email saying they will take steps to ensure such things don't happen again - but its just a nonsensical reply that means nothing. I have had to go to the hassle of returning the item and paying the postage. Hopefully I will get my refund, for the item, without more time consuming hassle. Blacks should not take your order if the item is not in stock - they should alert you to this fact before you order. If they do accept the order, then they should contact you, explain that there will be a delay and offer a refund/cancelation. At the very least, you should be able to cancel the order if it is out of stock and has not been dispatched. And just getting computer generated emails that are not specific to your problem is not good enough. It makes you wonder if this is a deliberate policy to take your money and hope you can't be bothered to return the item. I won't be using Blacks for mail order again - this is a shame since the item was very well priced and great value.

Bought a Berghaus fleece top. delivered on time. The sewing on the seam had a 2 inch gap where the the pieces weren't sewed together. Blacks want me to either arrange a courier during lockdown or carry out a 2 hr round trip to nearest store so they can inspect it after lockdown - the clear photograph isn't enough - there's no doubt this should have been spotted under their quality inspections. Never had issues before but not had to return anything previously that was purchased online. They are not willing to move from their process

It took maybe 4/5 customer service agents via 12 back and forth emails and 1 telephone conversation for me to simply tell them i havent received my item (and they even confirmed it) and would like another to be sent out (i repeated this request at least 4 times), and after everything they issued a refund which means that I won't be able to get the item for the same price. The customer support team whilst not rude, but were unfortuantely clueless and totally untrained to help effectively hence the unbelievable amount of emails to sort out something relatively straightforward that was already addressed in the early stages.

Have sometimes shopped in store with Blacks and receive emails from them. I'm now changing my email address. Banks and other financial institutions, and other retailers have an option on their web site to enable this. Not Blacks, or Go Outdoors who are part of the same group. Their response is "we are unable to change your email address for customer security reasons". Totally crazy. Definitely a Black listed attitude. Interesting that in the response timescale on these reviews the options jump from "6-12 hours" to "over a week". So anywhere between 1 and 7 days can't be submitted!

Purely betrayed... paid a week ago for air berghaus air 4 & ground sheet while on offer, a week later told that no more stock but when i went back to site tent was still there but just higher price, if they would have inform me earlier, i would have gone for other tents while still on offer. really killed my camping dream ...

Prices are about right compared with other shops, however their "Deliver to Store" time scales are beyond belief. It took a week to dispatch, and then almost a week for it to arrive in store. On this basis I would shop else where in future.

Ordered sports watch from Blacks online. After dispatch email. There was no update from them regarding progress of package. I went to collect / pick up shop and they said they had received my package from blacks. No delivery email or text was received from blacks. When I opened the packaging, I noticed that the watch box had been ripped open. I paid £350 for a Garmin 735xt that was tampered with or used. Watch seems to work, but that's not the point! Very disappointed with service. I would not recommend Blacks to anyone after this. They do not value customers. I gave 2 star rather than 1, because no one reads one star reviews.
