“What a joke. Second time a ‘waiting’ car service booked in with inverness Hyundai and for the second time sat waiting for an hour and a half only to discover they hadn’t even started the work. Yet again full of hot air and excuses shame they can’t put all that hot air into action. Perhaps they are somewhat confused and they think a waiting appointment means they can keep you waiting all day, of course that’s not what it’s meant to mean perhaps the management needs to explain that to the staff! Perhaps it’s because I’m disabled and they view me as a second class citizen and therefore someone who only deserves a second class service”
“Arnold Clarke approached my daughter to say she could part ex her existing car, so my Daughter paid a deposit for a car on the 8th June to hold it and while trying to sort the finance out they sold the car she had placed the deposit on and it’s now the 3rd July and she still has not received her deposit back and keeps getting told they will sort it. £200 is a lot for a company to keep hold of without returning it. I bought my car from stoneacre and not at anyone time did they ask me for a deposit.”
“Bought my Jaguar xf 24 months ago paid 16k paid 278 a month looked after it kept it buitiful tried to up graid to arnold clarke said it was worth 6k for a 67 plate xf in mint condition ended up giving it back as i owed 10500 because off intrest what a waste off my money”
“When I recieved my car I noticed the dashboard was making a rattling noise, the service light keeps going on (never fixed) They took the dashboard off and glued it back it did settle down a bit. It also came with two keys but one was held together with tape. It took over one year to get a replacement key after being told to go to different garages. I paid over £7000 for the car and I have spent over £1000 reparing it (not including tyres) and now under three years since I bought it Arnold C have offered £687 for a trade in. After getting my second service done from arnold clark I got a second opinion regarding another noise and was told that there is loads of stuff wrong with it. So I need to say goodbye and I will not be going to Arnold Clark again. I should have known better TBH”
“IMPROPER SERVICING!!!! DANGEROUS!!!
On Monday 24th June, I noticed a red flashing engine coolant light which would come on spontaneously. This was despite engine coolant being topped up to full.
I took this up immediately with Arnold Clark Mazda Aberdeen and had the car serviced on Wednesday 26th June. Following the service, they said they found no faults with the car and it was safe to drive. They didn't believe me when I told them the issue.
Driving this morning on the motorway, the car showed the red light again - this time, causing the car come to a stop on the motorway. I could have caused a serious accident.
I phoned AA breakdown recovery, they helped me out and said that the radiator fluid of the car was completely empty. The AA staff poured about 4 litres of water into the radiator system. This was SHOCKING. The AA staff said that this is a very serious fault and couldn't believe when I told them this car was "serviced" 3 days ago. Anyone who took a good look at the coolant system would notice this issue straightaway.
The engine could have overheated to the point of melting or combusting. Additionally, there could already be permanent damage to the engine!!!!”
“Ignored my oil problem. Took £1400 off me for the service and other repairs. Passed my mot. Booked me in for oil issue a week later and tell me I need a new engine for £5400.
Ignored my wet belt in two services and blame me for not asking them to check it. I didn’t even know what a wet belt was until all this ! Refuse to do anything to help me. Only bought the car 18 months ago! Stuck in finance paying £228 a month and my engines failed. Thanks Arnold Clark”
“Bought a fiat500x back end of March this year. They have had it back more than I have used it! Paid £8k for it and not been able to use it. They collected it took to Wolverhampton branch who said nothing wrong. Drove it home same fault appeared immediately. They took it again and this time their Oldbury branch found a fault. Now waiting on parts apparently!!! Bought it from their Huddersfield branch who accept no responsibility at all, no ownership! I was told not their responsibility to keep me mobile😁🫣what a bunch of jokers! Sunny and Simon branch managers - pass back and forth to each other, never call you back! Customer service is rubbish! Never again feel completely ripped off! Bunch of highway men in suits!”
“I booked in to have new exhaust and to be told it needed a service breakpadd and discs, and it was dangerous the words used was steel on steel. I checked my records I have break disc and pads by another garage early last year and these changes usually last for at least 50,000 miles, which I have not done.. far from it.. total miles for this year was less than 10,000 miles. I had no issues breaking and did not feel this when breaking, however they use scare mongering tactics to Upwell the repair and took advantage of a woman that knows nothing about cars. Paid nearly 1300 pound for all works and service to have the engine light come on 3 days after the work and was told.. its nothing to do with the original works and its the age of the car and now 1 of the pistons is misfiring and it had extensive oil leak.. and I was told what do you expect for the age of the car. My car registration was YB11YNX and is paying this money out when car cannot be used. Never had issues until they touched my car. Disgusting wasted 3 days annual leave also. Don't ever use this company of u don't want to be Highley charged and use scare mongering tactics. I think they caused this to my car to keep coming back paying them high amounts. PLEASE GO TO ANOTHER GARAGE AND ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION.”
“Bought a car 5 weeks back, been in garage within 3 weeks for clutch, pedal and brakes. This car has done less than 5 thousand miles and 2 years old. Was concerned about brake noise so took for independent check, all discs are pitted. Arnold Clark advised fine just need a clean. Totally dismissed and won't let me speak to manager at Head Office, absolutely disgraceful. Please avoid at all costs, take your money then literally don't care. Advised they won't listen to third party garage only their own. Take from that what you may. If it had had a PDI this would have been picked up.”
“I had my Duster serviced and MOTd at arnold clarks at scott lane Wigan yesterday. The lead up to the service and MOT was a disaster. I phoned them previously on 3/5/2024 then I visited there and tried to book my duster in 27 days before it was due. I was told that the earliest date was 5/6/2024 which meant I couldn't legally use my duster for almost a week so thanks Arnold clark for forcing me to walk everywhere It's not like I was a new customer there' I have been buying used and new cars from this dealership for almost 20 years. The young woman who dealt with me was lovely and helpful and credit to her up to the point where I told her about me being off the road because of them. She said yes it's because of covid? What? that was 5 years ago? Yes but people took advantage of the six months extension on their vehicles MOT and that's thrown us out. so next time you might be better off booking 2 months in advance, she halted the discussion there and bombarded me as to how important it was that i give a feedback rating of no less than 5 as it wouldn't give her a smiley face. What has the world come to when this poor lady has to grovel to customers for good feedback. I could go on and on but will cease here. I am disgusted with the system that badly effects me and this poor young woman.”
“Offered me £4000 less for my car, than they were selling the exact same car, with twice the mileage for. My car is in a1 condition. I know they need to make money, but that's a joke. Think I may try.Motorpoint.”
“Been a valuable customer since the 80s bought over 30 cars and vans over the years (dad son and daughter )Had to trade in a car last year from them as was too much to repair cutting my agreement short putting more negative equity onto another car . then Was Sold a second faulty car complete engine failure this time . Left me with 3 years of finance still to pay of £11000 and repairs costing £8000 to fix. they repriced it for reconditioned parts down to £5000 only giving me 10 months to pay it on there payment plan . Was left with no curtsey car for weeks and no attempt to get me one despite asking for weeks about one while my car sat in there workshop . Having to always chase them up to find out answers and what’s going on looking for options on how to deal with this. but getting no where they say they were helping but they kept fobbing me off. Was told not there problem. The attitude on some of them they couldn’t care less promised to phone me back then going away on days off and holidays so nobody was there to help me having to wait til they came back . Customer services no good either didn’t want to know. had to hire a vehicle costing £300 a week just so I could get to my work . Sold a warranty £400 that wouldn’t have covered all repair costs and sold a service plan £400 with no reminders as they had a technical issue , missed my first service due to no reminders so warranty was invalid . passing me from pillar to post nobody wanting to deal with it not wanting to take my calls . I was told to get a bank loan or a credit card to pay for repairs or remove my car from there premises which meant I would had to pay more money to get it recovered . There good at selling you and taken your money but there after care is shocking soon as anything goes wrong they don’t want to know. My fault all the time. Maybe they shouldn’t have sold me 2 duff cars in the first place.
I spoke to independent mechanics and a specialist engineer who all told me that for damages that high couldn’t have just happened like that within a year of owning the car. You assume that when buying a car from them they will thoroughly check it and repair it for you before you take it away . The managers lie and hide information as later on I found out that they don’t give it a full service before I bought it but only a oil change a basic quick check over just enough for me to take it away. Left me in financial difficulties. Long as they get a sale that’s all that matters.”
“NOT AS DESCRIBED- misled into 4 hours of travel and a credit check!
Upon placing deposit on this vehicle I spoke to representatives including Tony from your Aberdeen Mazda branch. They provided a video of the car. I asked if they could view and confirm the condition of the paint/ bodywork due to 4 hour round trip to come to the branch and distance at which video was recorded. I was advised the car was in excellent condition. I arrived at the branch on Friday 10/05/24 to complete the purchase having completed the credit application based on the description provided and found-- Drivers side rear bumper poor spray job with visible drip marks and over spray. Over 20cm x 10cm wide. - Drivers side rear door inside frame clearly resprayed and poorly finished. Almost whole length of where door meets rear 3/4 panel.- Drivers door sill area lacquer peeling off. Over 10cm wide.- Drivers side boot lid out of alignment and rubbing on rear bumper removing/ marking paint. - Condensation inside both rear lights. - Passenger rear 3 quarter C pillar ~4mm proud of body. - Clearly visible chips on passenger side rear door sill. - Rear spoiler lacquer on front edge peeled/ faded. Rear spoiler adhesive loose on both sides. This cost me ~£100 to find out the excellent condition car was far from it. Furthermore, a hard credit search was carried out on basis of the supposed condition.
I was contacted by their customer service team who said it was up to me to ask for more information/ pictures before travelling. I explained that I did. The advisor told me Arnold Clark take no responsibility for the incorrect advice.
I’ve now had to request call recordings to support escalating this further. The customer service advisor did not issue a deadlock notice/ detailing the ombudsman either.
Be very, very careful as Arnold Clark cannot be trusted to accurately describe their cars!”
“I have been with Arnold Clarke for over 7 years and have never being over enthralled by their service after the initial buying - all very helpful and pleasant. Service plan and all - I have a service plan and I am currently trying to book my car in for a service and MOT - I have previously had them pick up my car from my workplace or home to be told that this is no longer available as they have changed the radius to within 5 miles. the nearest appointment is 22nd June for a Saturday and this is for the MOT and then I have to take it back to get the service done in July Saturday 13th- again more inconvenience and when trying to get answers you are just repeatedly told the same thing over and again. I was then put on hold and told to stay on the line - I did but then the receptionist from the showroom said they could not connect. Very pleasant and took my details for someone to call me back. Not sure what happened to operator who told me to stay on the line.”
“I think you re not sorry about bad review as the customers service doesnt do anythink for that. We bought citroen car less then 1 year ago. something wrong but the garage is busy. we can t use the car. appointment in 1 month,no courtesy car. We have kids. We have only 1 car.sorry no reach enough to buy 2 cars....but maybe broken as well. so just waiting. you look like dont care. thank you for that 😠”
“Warranty Con I enquired about a car at Mazda Kirkcaldy asking about an CX30 21 plate today was told I'd get a 3 month warranty But this car was advertised on the Mazda approved used car website and is offered with a unlimited mileage 12 month warranty along with drive away insurance among other things But Arnold Shark sorry Clark not offering this warranty Doing customers out of what they are entitled too”
“Terrible customer services. Miss sold on paying extra to go to them for any breaks on the car and MOT. Been without a car for a month, still with no MOT or it being fixed. Asked for a replacement after being without so long. Good customer service would help you with that. Not these guys. All "booked up" or you have to pay. People on the phone and emails are rude, not sympathetic to your situation. Have reported them to trading standards and insolvency.”
“I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the service provided by Arnold Clark Garage in Doncaster. On March 8th, I entrusted my car for repair of the catalytic converter, front and back discs, and pads. However, the outcome of this service has left me utterly dissatisfied and concerned for my safety and that of my family.
Since the repairs, my car has exhibited several alarming issues that were not present before. The steering wheel shakes violently when the car reaches 60mph, a problem that was nonexistent prior to the repair. Additionally, there are serious concerns with the gearbox, as it fails to engage properly, resulting in erratic acceleration and gear recognition issues. Furthermore, the car emits smoke from the exhaust after just 40 minutes of driving on the motorway, indicating significant mechanical faults.
Despite my repeated attempts to address these issues with the garage, including multiple returns for further inspection and repair, the problems persist. On one occasion, we experienced a complete clutch failure while driving on the motorway, leaving my family, including four children and two deaf parents, stranded at a service station for over five hours. This ordeal not only endangered our safety but also caused significant distress and inconvenience.
Furthermore, I am deeply dismayed by the lack of accountability and professionalism displayed by the garage staff. Despite our clear descriptions of the problems encountered and our concerns for safety, the garage dismissed our complaints and attempted to attribute the issues to unrelated mechanical components, ultimately resulting in exorbitant repair costs totaling nearly £2000.
This entire experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I am appalled by the negligence and incompetence demonstrated by Arnold Clark Garage in Doncaster. I urge you to take immediate action to rectify this situation and ensure that no other customers endure similar ordeals in the future. Additionally, I request a full refund for the faulty repairs and reimbursement for the expenses incurred as a result of the garage's negligence.
In conclusion, I cannot in good conscience recommend Arnold Clark Garage in Doncaster to anyone seeking automotive services. The disregard for customer safety and satisfaction displayed by this establishment is unacceptable, and I implore you to reconsider your business practices to prevent further harm to unsuspecting customers.”
“Unfortunately a terrible experience. Vehicle booked in for service and warranty fault. Vehicle returned with damaged bodywork and no evidence of attempt to repair fault. Branch response to complaint - 'our CCTV doesn't work so we won't take responsibility'!”
