Having booked well in advance for our car service and courtesy car , we arrived today only to be told no courtesy car available. Not good enough when I am unable to walk any distance as waiting on a knee replacement . We were told we could just sit and wait

I booked my Fiat 500 into Arnold Clark Whitehall Road Leeds for its routine second year service and both booked and checked in on - line . Upon arrival at the Service Reception I was informed that there was a back-log of twenty cars in their workshop and it would be late afternoon 4-00 pm onwards before my car would be ready for collection . Normally the car would be ready mid day hence the car was booked in for service at 10-00 am . Apparently a shortage of technicians . I explained to the lady receptionist that if I had been informed prior to my visit my Wife would have followed me down in her car . Also I had a Doctors appointment at 2-30 pm which unfortunately I had to cancel due to the service time situation . The receptionist offered to re-book the service for the 8th November but I explained that it was not convenient . The receptionist did not even offer to try and bring the service forward or a lift into the Leeds Centre , which meant a twenty five minute walk into Leeds . Surely there should have been some form of flexibility shown on the receptionist part , after all they are the first line of contact . Therefore I was marooned in Leeds awaiting confirmation . At 11-55 am I received a text message that my vehicle was going through the service process and at 12-55 pm a link with the health check but no estimated time of the service completion . Having not received a further message I made three attempts to speak to the service desk but they failed to inform me when the service would be completed . Therefore at 2-15 pm I decided to make the 25 minute walk from the Leeds centre to Arnold Clark . I arrived at 2-40 pm and spoke to the receptionist and was informed that she was awaiting both the keys and paperwork for my Fiat . Therefore was informed to have a seat in the waiting area . After a period of 15 minutes I once again approached the receptionist for an update and she eventually got up from her seat to chase up the workshop . Not at all impressed with the manner in which I was treated by your service desk . Eventually I received the car key and paperwork at 3-15 pm . I was informed that my car was parked in your front car park . The technician had left the protective cover on the seat and floor mat which I had to dispose of prior to driving the car . The inside of the car had not been valeted and on the upper doorsill there were black rubber marks which I was able to remove . Therefore the lack of customer care and attention to detail has on this occasion let Arnold Clark down .

I’m stuck in the middle really, Buying the car was pretty easy it did take them 2 days to contact me to say the finance was in place etc, the car then took 4 days till I saw it had an mot on it and 12 days until it was delivered to my local branch so in total from calling and giving the go ahead to reviveing the car was 18 days which is a very slow process. I called for updates on multiple occasions and had no response or contact back, I got to the point where I thought the car might come it might not who knows and didn’t really care it sort of sucked the fun of buying a new car from the deal. I asked them about 3 advisories that was on my cars mot and they said they’ll of been done and I’ve had the car checked and they haven’t been done, called the branch and they said they’d get back to me no response for 3 days so called again no response for 4 days in the end I’ve travelled 3 hours to speak to them and they said advisories are advice and don’t need to be done and they won’t do anything about it but tried to give me a quote from servicing department to pay for them out my own money. I wouldn’t shop here again the preparation of the vehicle was rubbish and the lack of updates and communication from the sales team is the real issue here I wouldn’t of even been looking at the mot advisories if they actually kept in touch with me throughout the process.

Arnold Clark failed to notify me when my MOT due. The due date is not mentioned on any documentation. I only became aware it had expired when I went to renew my RFL despite my servicing and repair contract stating you will contact when my MOT or service are due. There has been no communication from Arnold Clark since I purchased my car and service agreement in September 2021. I had assumed, wrongly, that my car's MOT was valid from the date of the service contract. Customer Services told me it was up to me to keep track of MOT renewal date as they no longer sent reminders, yet I have no documentation to alert me to the fact this was not due in September. Absurdly, my contract states when my previous car's MOT expired. It would make sense to include this important information on your new vehicle purchase too. This is not Customer Services of the highest level. I don't do a lot of driving but am appalled to learn I've been driving illegally for several months. Had I not prepaid my servicing and MOT I would have taken my vehicle elsewhere.

Bought a fiat 500 3 yrs old. Said it was MOT'd. Got it home. Heard knocking noise and car obviously also had an oil leak. Luckily I took it back within the 60 day warranty period to have it repaired...how did it pass an MOT?? Car was classed as undriveable. Could not give me a courtesy car. Also was told to keep my taxi receipts to work and that I would be reimbursed...garage doing repair denied all knowledge and said to get in touch with the branch I bought the car from...now sitting waiting at garage on a reply from salesman who sold me the car who just happens to be in a meeting...watch this space...Arnold Clark you are going to lose another customer if I don't get this sorted!

I bought a car from them on finance a few years back, and the paint on my car started peeling off without any reason. I went to a car Bodyshop and the specialist confirm my car was wrongly painted before I got it, and that's the reason the paint is now just flaking off my car. To fix it, I will have to pay £600. I called the Arnold Clark store where I got the car from, and they just said that I don't have a guarantee on the car paint. Sad and disappointing, I would like to add that my car was only 6 months old when I got it, and no one ever in a shop mentioned this car had any work done on it.

Was charged £139 to install a part which only cost £19 to bye . Feel let down by the company, because i have a service plan, I feel they are are trying to extract more money from me. Have lost so much respect for the company. I will never renew any agreement with you. Sorry but fact.

When my second service was due I informed the Service department I had an oil leak from the front of the car and would they check it out, on completion of the service I was informed the leak was coming from the sump plug but had now been rectified, ( it was previously serviced by them). A few weeks later I took the car for its first mot, the mechanic informed me there was an oil leak from the timing chain and it looked like it had been for awhile. I called Arnold Clark customer service who advised me to take it to a main dealer as there was still manufacture’s warranty remaining. My local dealer confirmed there was a leak and they would have to have the car for two days to complete the work, this on a car that’s only done 21,200 miles and only a few weeks after the service. I can’t help feeling was it ever leaking from the sump plug? and they knew it was a job they didn’t want to do. However I don’t think I’ll be going back to Arnold Clark.

On buying a car from Arnold Clark alone definitely 5 star they couldn't be more helpful Nick Sanderson excellent at his sales job but sadly after sales service like a different company we sadly bought 2 services from them prior to each service we had quite a bad oil leak from the oil filter once maybe twice is a problem especially on a 19 plate car. I was told its genuine vauxhall parts which I don't dispute possibly over tightened also told that the locking nut was damaged on rear wheel and asked to pay £70 to replace I argued that they must have damaged it on last service they disagreed I said the last time the rear wheels where off was when they took them off. The person went to speak with someone out the back finally with the never said anything other than all done no explanation just a very poor situation very disappointed with everything. I would love to go back to Arnold Clark but I have doubts now especially with warranty you get if you possibly have a fault all you get is you have to go back to manufacturers and there warranty its an easy cop out you'd be better off going to a main dealer and get fobbed off by them rather than fobbed off twice.

I purchased a Ford Fiesta 1.0L Ecoboost (2014) from Arnold Clark Shiremoor in July 2020. The process to buy the car was very straightforward, and although they would not move at all on the price I was happy with the car. A week after driving away from the lot there was a loud spinning sound coming from the front wheels. I booked the car in with Arnold Clark (the Newcastle Ford branch this time which is closer to where I live) and when I picked it up they told me quite a lot of work had been done to the car. Obviously this is work that should have been found and fixed before they sold me the car: - Suspension drop link assembly replaced. - Secured rear exhaust heat shield (which is now damaged again). - Exhaust flexi snapped - replaced catalytic converter assembly. - Replaced front brake discs and pads. - Rear wiper not sitting correctly. All of this done just over a week after driving the car away from the lot. All of which should have been done before I was sold the car. The car was then working fine for a number of months until the spinning sound returned near the beginning of 2021. I took the car into an independent garage and they informed me my brake pads needed replacing. This must have only been around 5 months after they were replaced along with the brake discs in the first set of repairs. Around a month after this the spinning sound returned for a third time. This time I took it to another garage (a Halfords Autocentre) for a brake check. This time I was told the brakes were all fine, and that they couldn't see what the spinning sound problem was. They did notice that the rear shock absorbers were leaking, however, and one of them was leaking excessively. I had only done less than 5,000 miles of light driving since purchasing the car due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. A few days after this I also noticed that the Start-Stop technology was working - I was completely unaware the car even had this feature as it had never worked. It was operational for a couple of hours before completely vanishing again. I contacted Arnold Clark customer services about all of these issues and they told me that it was not their problem. I believe all of these problems I am still having were present in some form before I purchased the car, which means I should be entitled to repairs or a full or partial refund. They have offered me absolutely no help whatsoever and have cut off the discussion, stating "After reviewing your concerns further we are unable to change our response on the matter. I would have to advise that this is our final response on the matter". I will now look to see what legal options I have with this situation. If you plan on purchasing a vehicle I would be extremely wary of Arnold Clark as a whole, as once you have handed over your money they have no regard for the quality of the vehicle they are selling to you. If nothing else, having over £1,000 worth of repairs done to a 2014 car in well under a year of purchasing with yet more issues to have fixed should put you off ever using them. I will be letting my family, friends and colleagues in the media industry know about this and advising them never to buy from Arnold Clark.

I have bought two cars from Arnold Clarke, on the serface and at fi4st glance all appears good, but in both cases , and within a short time after purchase both cars have had problems. The depot I bought from was unable to do the repairs and the cars had to go to dealerships. Never again will I buy a car from Arnold Clark as tempting as they appear, I have learnt my lesson.

This is a update from my previous review. Well apparently the bushes or pins on both sides of lower suspension arm still have more life left on them/ meat still on the bone. The insecure heat sheild has been welded on. But on Saturday they told me when I phoned in that all lights came on dash and they have ordered in some new parts that should arrive today 13/01/20. Oh and on Sunday 12/01/20 I emailed Josh about the flexi rail armrest/console he mentioned in his email that he will find out whats happening with it. Well when I checked my email today 13/01/20, Josh mentions he spoke to manager about it and said because of the age of the car and it is sold as seen. I phoned the Stirling/Citroen and asked to speak to Josh but he is off work today. I then asked if I could speak with the manager. I spoke to manager and said about expecting flexi rail armrest/console to be in car. The managers reply was that I dont have to have the car if dont want it, I explained the description of the car and its features are very misleading. I told him I paid for car in full. He said well you can have your money back, just email your details of my bank account. I find this most disappointing and dont care attitude and poor sales tactics. I know have to think about having my money back and going to a non arnold clark dealership may be Pearsons or Peter Vardy or Evans Halshaw. I raised a complaint with Arnold Clark Customer services. See if they sort this out

I passed my test recently and the first place I wanted to go was Arnold Clark. I had seen loads of advertising about how amazing this place was and how they could get you the best deal, so I felt like I didn’t want go anywhere else. On the day of getting my car, one of the staff members were extremely helpful, walked me through the car park and showed me ever car in my budget and went into depth about the cars, which was great and really helped me when I needed to make a decision. I signed all the paperwork, everything was great until I noticed, a day or two later that my bumper was falling off. It’s been a couple months and still no one is fixing it. My battery also went flat and even though I’ve got warranty, they told AA to charge me. I hadn’t even had the car 2 month. It’s all smiles until you get the car, then if there’s an issue, they’re not bothered to try and fix anything. Terrible service
