Absolutely unhelpful, unreliable and untreated Bank. I'll change the bank very soon.

A simple change of rate and term took months to organise. I was promised a refund as snail mail documents delayed the whole process, due to their computers going down. No refund received. My first direct debit amount was £200 over and above my agreed maximum monthly payments and I was not warned by the mortgage advisor. Obviously, they readjusted my future monthly payments, rather than current month which blew my budget. No apology received throughout the whole process. Barclays need to work hard on their customer care. I certainly won't be recommending them or mortgaging with them ever again. Oh, and trying to make a complaint is just as tedious, as you'll be put on hold for half an hour to get through to the right department and still not get any answers or apology.

I think Barclays needs to fix up. yesterday i had visited the store only to find their so called system not working, so had visited today and only i got was "please bring your idea tomorrow than we can help". Here's the funny fact i was showing them my idea in front of their faces, i mean how hard can their job be.

I tried to open a simple current account and i was informed of the documents, confirmed they were sufficient and then denied in my set meeting. I had to return with a specific document. I did, still told I must return with more. Not only this but whilst waiting for an appointment (3 days minimum) and I had access to any London branch and or surrey, I then contacted your call Centre who said I could get a walk in. I tried 4 branches, all said we don't take walk in's. This was all before having my documents denied twice. Your service is appalling and your system is flawed. I have to jump through hoops, I do it and then I am told to return when best suits your bank, all whilst I try to give you my money.

been banking with barclays for 10 yrs plus and think the customer service is appalling.called them today to enquire about an £8.00 charge they had given me and was on the phone for half an hour more trying to explain it to some foreign guy.In the end I ended up filing a complaint and having to wait 24/48 hours to hear back from them.barclays don't care about their customers in my opinion all they care about is pinching their money from their accounts and feeding them a load of bullshit.I tried telling the foreigner on the phone that if you steal money from people's bank account without an explanatory letter then it's called fraud. being a foreigner he didn't understand that.barclays your very devious and your customer service is rubbish.

For 6 months, I have been going to Barclays Bank in St James Park branch to cash my pay cheque. I have been providing the same photo ID for 6 months every 2 weeks without any problems. All of a sudden yesterday when trying to cash my cheque, this new female staff (didn't manage to get her name but she was blond and probably in her 20's) looks at my photo ID doubtfully and said she will need to check as she has not seen it before. I told her I have been providing the same ID in the past with no problems. She then comes back and says she cannot accept it as it is not a valid UK/EU ID. I then asked her how come her all her other colleagues had no issue with it in the past and I have been providing it for the past 6 months? She replied they shouldn't have and refused to cash my cheque and even sarcastically wished me a good day! Came back today and was seen by her colleague, Claire, who promptly gave me attitude without me even saying a word yet! She probably remembers me from yesterday. Claire immediately asks me "Did you bring your identification today?" in a rude tone. I replied yes and gave her my British passport along with my pay cheque. I then showed her my other photo ID which I've been providing in the past and asked her "So, do you not accept this photo ID anymore?" To which she replied: "No, we do not accept this ID ever". I then told her that this is the same ID I gave her 2 weeks ago and she denied it and said she would never accept this photo ID. I told her it was definitely her who assisted me 2 weeks ago and she had no problems accepting my photo ID then, nor had her other colleagues for the past 6 months! She did not reply to that and just proceeded with the transaction brusquely! I have thought of opening an account with Barclays a couple of months back to make life easier but instead of arranging an appointment with an actual person, the staff told me I have to process application with this machine in their branch to which I tried to do since I had all the information/papers at that time. However, this was also rubbish at it did not complete the application and just hanged for so long that in the end, my colleague and I just left as our lunch break was finishing. Whatever happened to human contact/interaction? The Barclays St James Park branch is absolutely rubbish and most of the staff here are really rude! Especially this Claire --- I have noticed her being rude to other customers in the past as well. I would never come to this branch if I didn't need to. I have dealings with Barclays Holborn branch in the past and I have never had any problems with them before and most of the staff there that I have encountered were very accommodating.

I have been banking with Barclays since 2005, recently I have noticed that they are becoming untrustworthy and I am strongly considering moving to another bank. I transferred £400 from my account to my girlfriends account. The money was debited on my account but the recipient never received it. I phoned Barclays, the confirmed that my girlfriend’s account was rightly entered on the system by me but they seem not to be able to trace where they sent my money to. The customers service was awfully unbelievably appalling. They kept me on the phone for over an hour only to tell me that if the money is lost they will try to trace it and see if they can recover it. I was expecting them to refund me as the mistake was from their end and not from me. My girlfriend needed the money to pay for her flight, as a result of Barclays mistake she had to miss out travelling with her best friends. As I am typing this now they still haven’t refunded my money nor traced where they sent my money to. If you are considering open an account, please stay away from Barclays

Our branch in town is closed for 3 weeks for refurbishment. I need to pay a cheque in and know that it has cleared fairly quickly, rang the bank who said that I could pay it in to the nearest bank which is about 10 miles away! Think he thought he was doing me a favour!! Not everyone drives! Before the branch closed I had visited the bank twice to speak to a particular person. He was never there, always in another branch and each time left my phone number to have them ring me back. Am still waiting and have not been able to go in a third time to chase up because it has been closed for 3 weeks. I have been with Barclays for 43 years but am thinking its time for a change.

Literally a pointless practice having the West Byfleet branch. Offer no services whatsoever! You might as well just have the ATM and nothing else

The member of staff at Barclays branch Bishops Stortford who served me was extremely unprofessional and rude. She began by complaining about her itchy tights in a chatty way and then suddenly changed into an authoritarian tone demanding I tell her what my overdraft limit was. I told her that since I never needed an overdraft I didn't need to know it. She then told me that as it was my account I should be able to answer all her questions and if I didn't she wouldn't be able help me. If I hadn't made such a fuss I'm sure she would never have gone the extra inches to ask me a more appropriate and reasonable question which I was able to answer and so would not have verified me. I am appalled at the depths to which Barclays have sunk. They clearly do not care enough about customer relations to bother to train their staff in how to talk to customers. I will be changing my bank.

What went wrong? Everything. Barclays is a JOKE. The worst banking experience in my life. Their customer service is a misunderstanding. They have first blocked my account with no explanation, cleared my main account with no explanation, then closed my account also with no explanation whatsoever. They are keep holding all the oney I had on my savings account and do not want to give it back even though I have done everythig they asked for. I have made a complaint that they promise to resolve "as soon as possible", another joke. They have said they would resolve it withing a month giving the exact date for it and then what? Then they gave themselves another month for investigation, when there really isn't that much to investigate. All in all they have taken away all the money from me, they make problems giving it back, which lets be honest is stealing. And this has been going on for OVER 2 MONTHS. The customer service? There is not even one person with the ability to professionally serve customers, they are being rude and unhelpfull, some of them give incorrect information. So what is Barclays doing to their emlpoyees that they hate their jobs so much? Well, if they're treating their employees same as their customers, then I do not blame them for not giving a damn to do their job well. I wound not recommend this bank to my worst enemy.
