I recently booked a holiday and then had to pay extra as the person dealing with the booking had made a mistake and told us the wrong information. I would not use them again and in future will book it myself, at least the information will be correct and I won't have to pay for someone else's mistakes.

Their “on hold” info tells you that they have been voted the travel agent of the year by the industry but I beg to differ. They made me pay for a holiday on 23rd of August that I am taking on 14th December and then when I wanted to add parking at Tilbury Dock, a further £44 for four days , they charged me a £1fee to use my Visa Debit Card which is a free service with most other agents. When I protested and said that I would send a cheque instead, on principle, they said sorry we don’t accept cheques. I booked an almost identical mini cruise with another agent which I paid a lot less money for in high season with free parking and only wanted full payment ten weeks before. Moral of the story...... I won’t be using Barrhead Travel again!

Dire customer services from knowledgeable to downright rude. I'd rather miss out than pay for that kind of service.

I booked a holiday to Cuba through Barrhead paying a deposit of £500. On 6th May the holiday company changed the availability, giving me the option of cancelling with a full refund of deposit. I confirmed to Barrhead I wished to pursue this option and confirmed by email on 8th May. I was told this may take up to 6 weeks. On 28th June, some 7weeks later and having wasted about 6 hours of my time, I found that the holiday company concerned were not holding any money that I had paid and emailed this to Barrhead. This was followed by a phone call on 29th June when I was told I would be called back by a manager. As this had not happened 24 hours later I wrote to Barrhead's Chief Executive. It is now the evening of 4th July and still no response. I fail to see how Barrhead can take a deposit immediately but take 60 days plus to refund the same. Customer service is a complete joke!!

I booked over the phone with Barrhead travel silverburn Glasgow after numerous phone calls to the store when I was told someone would call me back regarding holiday. After getting holiday booked with no information on accommodation I seen reviews on it so visited store to try and change accommodation. After speaking with Craig at the silverburn store to deal with the accommodation he asked me to leave the store & said I was being aggressive. In no way was I being aggressive & if that is the way in which Barrhead travel staff at silverburn burn deal with their customers they won't have many customers left, I will not be handing over another penny & I will surely make family & friends aware of Barrhead travels conduct & professionalism at the store

Woeful website! Won't let you filter hotel board i.e. for All inclusive ,half board etc?? I remember thinking this years ago about Barrhead travel and nothing appears to have changed apart from the glossy new look. A company geared up for folk who dont have internet access or who insist on booking in a shop...and paying more than they need to.

The worst travel company out there!! Staff are awful and cheeky, don't care what mistakes they have made and try to get you to pay for the mistakes they have made!! Booked a holiday in September and was told on several occasions that an error they had made was resolved the day after we booked it and wasn't resolved until 3 days before the holiday !!! Absolute joke. Book if you want stress and inconvenience and to deal with staff who have an attitude problem. Have warned off everyone I know and will continue to do so!!!

I am appalled at the customer service. My partner and I booked our honeymoon through the Glasgow Fort branch. We dealt with the manager Gemma Swindell, she talked us out of our destination choice and talked us into what looked like a fabulous hotel in a beautiful hotel. We booked and paid in full there and then. We received a letter at the beginning of April telling us there would be work carried out throughout the hotel at the time of our stay, we contacted the Glasgow Fort on 20.04.17 and were told that Gemma had moved to St Enoch's shop but Ryan would be happy to deal with our issue. Ryan asked us to give him a couple of days to sort this and he would get back to us. We have given Ryan 2 WEEKS and we still haven't heard from him. I called today and spoke to someone called Craig who told us the email Ryan had been waiting on was in his junk folder and he hadn't checked there. Craig said we could move hotels but we would be charged for this. Obviously we are not happy about this and I told Craig this. I then tried to contact Gemma again, I was told she was in another call and would call me back, after an hour I AGAIN called and asked to speak to Gemma, I didn't catch the call handlers name but he was rude and before I had finished speaking he hung up on me. We are now looking at claiming our money back and booking through another travel agent. I will never deal with this company again and will be advising anyone I know not to deal with them. It's disgusting how they've treated us after taking our money.

Booked holiday through Barrhead travel at Braehead ,weren't sure where we wanted to go except short flight time and short transfer , advisor showed us hotel which we agreed too,5 weeks before flying checked tripadvisor to find hotel I has been plagued with a norovirus bug for years and 1 in 3 people take I'll , phoned by up asked to change hotel , no go non refundable booking apparently ? Terms and conditions applied ?Did t know much about it as we had left it to advisor to book it up and it dosnt say that on booking conformationabsolutely sick at thought of going on holiday to be ill at the cost of 1500 pounds, filled in enquiry form as way of complaint and received phone call from manager next day saying that hotel had refused refund ,and or advisor had ran through all the details with us?dont want to lose money and can't afford to rebook so might be forced to go . Will not be booking with Barrhead again , not there fault hotel has bug but I feel palmed off with there answers and lack of help.

My brother booked a week in New York for my mum's 60th birthday through Barrhead Travel in Bearsden. The hotel was booked 8 months in advance. My brother was assured that it was a lovely 4 star hotel in Times Square. My mother had no been abroad in 20 years and was very excited. The room we were placed in was tiny, dirty and had little to no space to put a weeks worth of belongings. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen. The curtains and chair were stained. No amenities in the room - no kettle, brochure, cups - nothing. Absolutely not as described when booking. I complained to reception and they moved me straight away. The new room was better as it had been renovated (still small) but much better. However, the blinds would not open as the window looked out to where the construction workers would sit. So no natural light. We also were not made aware at the time of booking that renovations would be taking place at the hotel. This meant that there was no restaurant at the hotel - so we couldn't get any food. This should DEFINITELY have been made aware at time of booking as this hotel would not have been chosen. Or made aware before we went as this was booked 8 months ago so we would have time to make other arrangements. The front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding. We could hear CONSTRUCTION WORK at ALL times when in our room and would get woken up during the night (even with ear plugs in!). I took video recordings of the noise which clearly states the time as 4.30am in the morning and 9pm at night. The hotel has 800+ rooms and the lifts were also under renovation. 4 lifts to service 800+ rooms is an absolute joke! There is loose wires and holes throughout the hotel. This hotel is not fit for purpose and ruined a special holiday. Barrhead Travel have been contacted and admitted that they didn't know the hotel was under construction!!! That's correct they don't know what they are selling!! They have mis-sold the hotel and think that offering £158 for a flight & room package we paid £2100 is acceptable. They also tried to offer a voucher to use with them in the future?! The customer service manager Iain Shaw is the rudest customer service manager I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. He blamed me for not calling Barrhead when I was on holiday and complaining then?! That's right waste my holiday and money complaining because they don't know about the hotels they provide. Bearing in mind it has taken me 3 weeks to get in contact with Chris and I'm back in the UK!!!! (So you can imagine how long it would take when I was in New York) I have emailed the CEO twice with no response. Barrhead Travel is the WORST travel agent I have ever dealt with and will never deal with again. Barrhead Travel do not care about customers, the managers are rude and the staff don't know what they are selling. There is also no place to post reviews on their website - I wonder why?! Once in a lifetime trip was ruined. Best advice - AVOID AVOID AVOID Barrhead Travel at all costs!!!
