“It allowed me to go back whenever I had time to study and start where I left off. It was good to have the practice tests between each section. It did assist me to learn the principles of boat safety and pass the course final exam.”

“I found the music in the videos very distracting, it sometimes competed with the narrator. If you would like more appropriate background music that won't take away from the lessons I am a professional session musician and would happy to record something for you!”

“More time spent of the rules of driving a boat (buoys, lights, horns, right of way, docking a boat, stopping, etc) and less on putting a boat in the water and attaching a trailer hitch, none of this was applicable to most casual boaters”

“Pretty standard stuff, some good videos but could use more, also some repeated slides. The worst part is the page view countdown that's often longer than it takes to read the material. Finished with a 90% though. Quiz questions are directly on the Final.”

“It makes sense to limit ability to flip pages until someone has read the content but omg it was too long a duration - I would finish reading, read a second time, and the counter still wouldn’t be done. This caused me to open other browsers and to two things at once Waiting for the counter to be done to flip to next lesson. To limit someone finding other distractions suggest the counter be reviewed and decreased or allow the user to specify their reading speed. it was exceptionally frustrating. Where video learning was an option I selected that, but through the last few modules (particularly 5-7), the background music became very electronic and distracting. Family members overheard it playing through the entire course and commented on what a marked shift in style it was from beginning to end. Just super distracting to what were otherwise good modules. There was a question asked in the quiz for module 3 where the content isn’t touched on until module 4 (diver flag/buoy). Otherwise great course and I felt comfortable going into the test.”

“As an instructional developer, I thought the course was well organized and featured great videos/content. My only concern was the inconsistency in when we could advance to the next learning objective: sometimes it would run for a period of time beyond the length of the video. I would also like to the ability to copy/paste key content to serve as a study aid in preparation for the summative assessment.”
