“Purchases a set of registration plates on 12 August 2026. What attracted me to Car Plates Direct was the price including free delivery was the best out there. When I came to place the order the payment page requested me to pay for delivery despite this showing as free in two separate sections of the website. I contacted the company and received an email from James Hartley who said he would arrange for my postage of £6.99 to be refunded to me and this would take 3-5 working days which was very kind of him and very much appreciated, however it is now six working days and I still have not received the £6.99 refund. I sent an email to Car Plates Direct on Wednesday 19 August 2026 at 12.55pm informing them that I still have not received my postage refund and have yet to receive a reply. It is so ironic that when we make a payment our money is taken out of our account instantly yet when a refund is due we have to wait and then fight to have it returned. It is such a shame as Car Plates Direct produced my registration plates in record time and they are just what I ordered. I hope now after reading this review that I will now receive my £6.99 refund.”

“I haven’t received my plates to fit, you chose the worst delivery company in the uk, not to mention I have waited 2 days from when they said it was out for delivery…..and they have delivered my plates to the wrong address, I live in a flat as described on the address and they have delivered them to a house and had the Gaul to take a picture of it as proof too, I can’t retrieve them because I don’t Know what houses letter box they stupidly put it through Terrible service all round”

“Beware as plates are not road legal! By default. DO NOT BUY PLATES FROM THIS COMPANY. MOT failure as not road legal. Bad customer service, shocking as just stopped responding to email.”

“Unfortunately I have no choice in giving a very poor review of Car Plates Direct, since I have not received my Order and having tried to contact them multiple times by email, phone and chatbot on their web site, they do not respond to anything! Tracking states Evri are still waiting for my package! It seems I am out of pocket unless PayPal will step in?! i am prepared to amend this review if they step up and honour my purchase, but for now - AVOID THIS COMPANY !”

“i ordered this last week and wnated it urgently sopaid th extra many pounds to get it delivered within a day or 2 as i had the MOT on wednesday still shoudl hav ebeen oK as thta left a 2 day safety margin but the plates were delivered thois morning! 8 days after i paifd extra for urgent deliveryu total waste of money and time and stress never use them: did they not pay for urgent delivery but kept th emoney or did they use rubbish deliveru or did they take too long to get theplated to the delivery team? who knows and who cares, they promised 2 days, charged fr that, but took 8 days williget allmy money back?”

“Ok so you asked for it. I ordered my plates on the 3rd of July and it is now the 10th of July and they have not arrived. Just as well I didn’t need them quickly. I believe I paid for a quicker delivery. Hopefully they will arrive soon.”

“FOLLOWING MANY YEARS AND MANY ORDERED PLATES FROM CAR PLATES DIRECT I ORDERED A NUMBER OF NEW CAR PLATES TOTALING £ 470.83. DUE TO THE HIGH VALUE I ASKED IF A DISCOUNT WAS AVAILABLE AND THEY SENT ME A CODE TO USE AT CHECKOUT, WHICH DID NOT WORK AS THE DISCOUNT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. ON RECEIVING THE BOX OF PLATES ONE OF THE PLATES OF THE SET HAD THE WRONG UNION FLAG DISPLAY, WHICH THEY ARE NOW JUST IGNORING MY EMAILS INSTEAD OF REPLACEMENT. DONT ORDER MORE THAN ONE PLATE FROM THIS COMPANY AS THEY ARE NOT THE CHEAPEST AND CERTAINLY NOT THE BEST.”

“Plates turned up damaged due to printing the back plat had bits stuck under the plastic . Tried to call them about 20 times no answer and even though i left a message no call back. They sent an email saying they would refund which didn’t happen so will now have to take this up with either the credit card company or small claims court”

“I received a pair of plates, the front was much smaller writing than the back. I emailed about this and was asked to send photos which I already had anyway then told if they had been used I couldn’t have a refund. I had to put them on as needed to use the vehicle. I replied to their email as hadn’t heard anything but have still not had a response. Also my son said they should have asked for my v5 or similar before issuing which they did not do queried this also on my email which they again have not replied to. So therefore I have no idea if these plates are ok to use so will probably end up buying another pair.”

“I placed my order including proof of plate and ID before the 2pm deadline on Friday, and paid the Express Delivery. The order did not leave them until Tuesday and arrived Wednesday afternoon. I also asked for there to be no postcode printed at the bottom of the plates, this was missed. I chased via email 3 times and was answered once and ignored the rest of the times. All they had to do was refund the Express element as it was not despatched same day.”
