About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“We are repeat customers of Chilton's and are very pleased with both furniture quality as well as customer service. They appear to be making a strong effort to stay close to their customers as they expand sales---their follow-up calls and emails are appreciated. One suggestion would be to provide furniture care instructions and/or kits to ensure the long life of their pieces.”

“We love our shaker classic platform bed. The wood and finish are beautiful. We love that the wood is locally sourced and that the bed was built in Maine. And we love our Portland mattress, constructed from eco friendly materials and in Maine. Deliver and set up was very smooth. We also bought a night stand that is gorgeous next to this bed. We will not hesitate to come back to Chiltons for any future furniture needs.”

“Bought king size cherry platform bed. Love the wood selection and finish. Only complaint is what I consider the poor metal attachments linking the side rails to the head and foot boards. The attachment design is inferior and doesn’t allow for a secure linkage of the bed components. If this linkage was better you would most definitely have a 5 star rating.”

“I entered the store on a busy Sunday to collect my item. Although every shopper was wearing a mask, I was very surprised that no employees were. There were also no precautions in place at the checkout, i.e. barriers.”

“I love my gorgeous new cherry dresser and matching mirror. Makes my room look Instagrammable for once :) The delivery was seamless, despite our tricky steep stairs. Its just too bad the time between order and delivery is so long ... I do with I got more communication along the way giving me updates on when it was expected to be ready.”

“We got exactly what was promised. When was the last time that happened with a web site. Although bed was expensive, it is very high quality and construction design will probably cause it to last forever. It was also nice to have them set it up and haul off the copious amount of packing materials that would have otherwise filled our trash containers for weeks”

“We bought a recliner and waited 3 months to get it. Then when it arrived there was a defect in it. We were told there was another chair just like it that came in at the same time and that the company would swap out the chairs. When the new chair was delivered to swap out, we found out it wasn’t a new chair, it was the one off the floor, and it had scratches in the wood base. So much for the “new chair “.”

We have gone back two years in our system and have no records of a recliner being exchanged, and your email address is also not in our system. We are wondering if you have confused us with another company? We have tried emailing you at the Yahoo email listed but have not heard back. If you see this reply, please email us at owners@chiltons.com - if your piece is from Chilton and arrived damaged, we will let you hold onto that piece while we order you a new one. “We absolutely love (emphasis added) Chilton Furniture. Their work is gorgeous, and their service is impeccable. You have to be patient, as they create their pieces to order. But, for us, the wait is an important part of the process, as we have learned that they actually are building something beautiful just for us. Their pieces are elegant and comfortable. In addition to fabulous dining room chairs, we bought 4 kitchen stools, one for each grandchild, and we predict that the now-little ones will be using those stools long after we leave the planet. Yes, we believe that the stools will endure because their style is timeless and their construction rock-solid.”
