About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“The Furniture is great. Delivered earlier than predicted Wanda Trip was delightfull The installation and delivery man was delightfull The "gentleman" ( term used loosely) who called in early January to say the furniture was complete and demand payment should never be allowed to have contact with the public. He has a very poor manner ..... If he had been my first contact with Chilton I would never have placed the order.”

“Alexandra in the Freeport store was very through with us on the dresser and bed we purchased. We live out of state and needed pictures and descriptions of the clearance sale items. She provided these and they accurately described the furniture we received. Bobby and John were the delivery team and were very easy and helpful in setting the bed up and being careful while they did this. The furniture is everything we imagined - our first new bedroom set in 50 years. Thanks for great service and a great product.”

“We recently bought 2 spindle armchairs (maple) for our kitchen table and we love them! First we went to the showroom to check out the options and see how comfortable they were. The staff was very helpful - took measurements for us and showed us the different kinds of wood options, etc. Ordered online when we got home. We were pleasantly surprised how quickly they were ready and delivered. Delivery guys called to say they would be a little early if that would be okay. No problem. Very smooth process and very good experience all around. Oh and not only are they beautifully made, they are really comfortable! Would highly recommend Chilton's.”

“Beautifully made furniture! When my husband and I purchased our dining room chairs we knew it would take some time before we got them but they were definitely worth the wait. We purchased them online without seeing them in person, which was a little scary, but we are so happy with them. Great customer service and amazing communication. They worked with our strange schedules to figure out a delivery date/time. Highly recommend!”

“Our experience shopping and working with Chilton was fantastic, beginning with the visit to the Freeport showroom to the delivery of our pieces in south Florida to a couple of follow up things we needed to have done after delivery. The furniture is gorgeous, of the highest quality, and staff so responsive and helpful. My favorite pieces include: mission coffee table that opens up to a lifted desk/work space, a taped Tappan bench woven like a basket, Morris chair, Shaker Oval extension table and the Penobscot bed. Also, we bought some really unique Marset lighting, particularly love the cool rechargeable lantern lights which we use throughout the condo and take out onto the balcony in evenings. thank you very much for producing this uniquely Maine heritage furniture. We feel closer to home with our furnishings and know that these pieces will last our lifetime and beyond.”

“Overpriced, poorly made....I purchased a desk. I waited 10 weeks. The main drawer broke, They sent techs who did a poor repair job. The writing surfaces have warped and cannot be used......trying to get a full refund.”

“The furniture is beautiful and very well made. The delivery agents were excellent. My only suggestion is that the shelves be installed by the delivery agents. It was a little challenging for me to get them in.”

“I have no idea what the quality of the furniture is. I know I've sunk $20,000 into this project and so far have received nothing. I was notified that my order would be delayed until August 20th for shipping. It's October 20th and Chilton hasn't even sent me a follow-up message adjusting the shipping schedule. Not happy with this company right now.”
