About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“We are thrilled with how great our Chilton furniture looks in our new home. There is something about high-quality wood furniture that allows it to softly make bold statements, and our Chilton kitchen table, bedroom set and all the chairs do just that. Plus, Chilton's service has been outstanding, including replacing a table that had a material defect. Within two days, Bobby and Adam were at our home to quickly make the swap, and we couldn't be happier. Highly recommend!”

“I purchased a cherry wood desk for my husband and it is absolutely beautiful. The delivery man brought it to us in Florida safe and sound after navigating horrible weather conditions. His good cheer and professionalism was much appreciated. I will definitely be a return customer.”

“Ordered a custom Walnut Shaker Heirloom Dining Table for our new home. Pleasantly surprised when Wanda called to say table was ready for delivery a month earlier than expected. Delivery by Bobby and Alex went smoothly. The walnut table looks fantastic with our white oak banquette. Thanks to Chilton showroom folks for pointing me in this direction.”

“I'm not happy with how fragile the assembly of the bed is. The rail latches on the headboard and footboard so quickly come apart during assembly that I'm afraid the bed will not be sturdy. Honestly, the bed needs some bolt hardware for a more sturdy construction. I've been trying for an hour to put my new bed together and every time I go to assemble an opposite corner, the bed falls apart. I'm regretting my purchase already having spent a lot of money on a solid wood king bed. Our other queen beds from Ethan Allen and Stickley are substantially better constructed for similar investments.”

“The furniture is great but the delivery charge was not. $395.00 for 1 chair is not reasonable.”

We're so glad to hear that you're enjoying your new chair! While we certainly understand that the delivery cost can seem high, we wanted to highlight a few details about it. It's a white glove service, which includes bringing the furniture inside and setting it up. Importantly, delivery prices are a flat rate for an unlimited quantity of furniture, which offers a considerable value for larger orders.. We have tried more cost conscious common carrier methods in the past and found that more often than not, the furniture was damaged in transit. We strive to keep the quality of our delivery as high as the quality of our furniture, and we hope that this helps shed some light on where that cost comes from. “When I called Chilton to ask questions about ordering bedroom furniture, I spoke with a very pleasant and knowledgeable saleswoman. Since I live some distance from the showrooms in Maine, she suggested that I order wood samples. Four samples came in two days. They do charge $5.00 per sample but issue a credit if I order furniture. And I definitely will be ordering furniture for two bedrooms!”

“We have purchased a bedroom set, parson's bench, two office desks with two chairs, a 2 draw file cabinet and recently a 4 ft bookcase, all in cherry. All our purchases were well made, very nicely finished, matched in color, style and well built. Having moved from Maine to Florida the satisfaction we had enjoyed convinced us to order the file cabinet despite the high cost of shipment. Highly recommended. Tom & Bev”

“We purchased two cherry, spindle armchairs on short notice just before Christmas and are very pleased with the service, quality and comfort. They fit our breakfast room, old, drop leaf, gate leg table perfectly and are very comfortable. We will be purchasing to more without arms and they will fit into the table end openings. We could not be more satisfied!”

“We have been buying furniture for close to 40 years from Chiltons. We sanded, stained and polyed many pieces for many years and still have them around the house. As always we had great service when we were there recently to continue the traditions by purchasing chairs for our daughter & family dinning room set.”
