About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“The table and chairs we ordered are absolutely beautiful. It took a long time to get, longer than anticipated. During that time Chilton never contacted us or gave us an update. When we contacted them for an update it felt like we were asking for extra service. A simple email letting us know we we’re not forgotten would seem to be a simple way to provide better customer service.”

We try to provide our best estimates for lead times at the time of the sale, or whenever requested by the customer, but we don't always hit the nail on the head. “The desk I ordered is beautiful and I know I will love it for years to come. Customer service is also excellent. The desk arrived with a broken drawer knob and Chilton was quick to respond and agreed to ship me a new one plus an extra to have on hand.”

“My order review rating is 4 1/2 stars. I couldn't give 5 stars because I was disappointed with an indented surface flaw on the wood they chose for the table's surface. You would think that the entire surface would be inspected to be smooth on a build order. Reflected light makes the indention noticeable. The Shaker Huntboard, and the six spindle chairs were flawless. The delivery and setup person was very efficient and professional. It could have been a perfect 5-Star rating.”

“Chilton Furniture offers an abundance of distinctive hand-crafted furniture designs for whatever one is looking for. Coupled with the fact that we live out-of-state and hadn't been to one of Chilton's three showrooms, it took us awhile to choose our new bed frame. Eventually, we settled on the handsome "Sunday River" model in all cherry; it was well worth the wait! The lengthy selection process, final purchase, and "white-glove" installation went extremely smoothly in large part due to Eleanor Soule's infinite patience with our detailed questions and her thoughtful and knowledgeable support from beginning to end. Our new bed frame is now attractively in place and we look forward to enjoying it for many years to come!”
