“In store: absolutely fine. However, the 'helpline' is absolutely and frustratingly useless. Total lack of knowledge, lack of ability to send emails, rudeness, repetitive mistakes with the same order, and a refusal to put me through to any manager. Awful.”
“My daughter had her prom make up done on the Benefit counter at Debenhams Uxbridge,Jennie was brilliant, so helpful & applied beautiful make up~Thank you!”
“I visited Bury St Edmunds today and was helped in lingerie dept by Alex . She was AMAZING !!!!!
In M&S I was treated badly by a very snooty lady but Alex in Debenhams couldn’t have been more helpful . She was smiley ,polite ,considerate ,helpful and funny . She spent 40 minutes measuring me ,bringing me bras to try on ,respecting my opinion and making helpful suggestions .
She made me feel like an individual that she cared about and went out of her way to help me make the right choices without pressuring me . Well done Alex you were just 5 stars .
Please feed back to Alex and promote her .”
“I couldn't get through to anyone over the weekend or bank holiday which wasnt great but since being in touch with them they have been very good and fast at sorting out my loan car and everything else.”
“Half order received with no problem. No updates on the other half of the order. Called the "customer service" team & was told the order was cancelled. When I asked why I was not informed, I was then told no it is not cancelled, they just don't know the status of the order. They said they would raise an enquiry which would take 72 hours. I asked for the order to be cancelled & was told it would still take 72 hours & then 5 days to refund. Asked to speak to a manager & was put on hold then the same representative returned & said the same thing. Asked for a manager again & was put on hold again. Then I was transferred to another customer service representative (not a manager) who told me I have to wait 72 hours to cancel the order then up to TEN days to receive a refund by gift card. No wonder the business is in trouble. They do not honour orders, keep customers updated or act in a proactive way at all! The delays just keep be added to.”
“I visited Debenhams Trafford Centre on 24th Aug & went to the Dior Stall. David at the Dior stall was very helpful & friendly. I’d definitely buy again & would recommend everyone to visit the Dior Stall in Debenhams Trafford centre, Manchester. Thanks again for the great customer service David :-)”

“Went into Derby store today with my fiancee, mother in law and my mum, looking for a suit for our wedding had already tried several different shops with no success, my partner tried several suits on and was losing hope of finding a suit perfect for our big day then John came along he could see the distress in her face and was amazing from start to finish he knew what size she would need just by looking at her, within half an hour we had the perfect suit all except the waist coat which he searched to see which stores had it in her size and ordered it for us to be delivered to store, thankyou John from the bottom of my heart you dont know just how much we appreciated your help in what was a very stressful situation for my beautiful fiancee”
“I visited the Newbury store on August 10th. I am pleased to say the staff there were very attentive especially I like to give a young lady call Sam a special thanks for her friendliness, patience and she is very conscientious in her work. Her dedication to her work was fantastic.Debenhams are very lucky to have her. I came away from the store very happy.”
“Regarding the Westwood, Thanet store. Firstly noticed how empty it was on a Tuesday afternoon. Went to buy some trainers but told they only had size 7, I would imagine that the average man was a 9.
Then went to have tea with my wife.Picked out a couple of nice cakes only to be told that the tea could only be served in paper ciups as the dishwaher was broken and they weren,t allowed to wash up by hand.
Plenty of normal crockery available. They cpould have kept the used cups until the dishwasher was mended, bujt no Elf & Safety!!
Left without having tea”
“I phoned this provider several times to add another driver to the policy but there was no response, I left a message on line since April, no response up till now, several months on.”
“Absolutely awful, avoid like the plague
If it were possible to give minus stars I would do so. I wouldn't purchase anything off Debenhams, they sell short life span rubbish, their on line customer care is awful. A piece of furniture, irrespective of how expensive, or how seldom used, purchased from them, is only warranted for 12 /24 months, then allegedly it is down to the manufacturer, which is totally incorrect, but try telling them facts. Awful company to deal with as far as customer care is concerned. It's a case of 'they take your money and run' and after 12 or 24 months the abrogate any responsibility and it's down to you. Avoid like the plague”
“I went to Debenhams Colchester this afternoon to return a photo frame that my husband had bought, which was not suitable. I explained to them that my husband had lost the receipt and could I get a credit voucher to enable me to purchase another item at a later date. The sales assistant was a young cocky chap aged about 20. He flatly refused to take the item back saying he could only do an exchange. I explained I was in a hurry and could I get a credit voucher so that I could purchase something on another day, to which he became quite annoyed and said “I just told you that I can only offer you an exchange as you don’t have a receipt”. At that point I was annoyed myself and I told him I would be going to another Debenhams store to return my item as I was well aware of their returns policy. I have in the past been able to return items without a receipt and have always been given a credit voucher to use later. It is no wonder Debenhams are going down the pan. The service is dreadful and I won’t be going there again. However I will be complaining to Trading Standards and Debenhams management about their shoddy service.”
