Hi Thomas, You can edit the price and the ad title, as well as the images.
We have had to lock the description / breed & microchip information on ads, as people were selling multiple dogs from the same ad. If you email support@dogs.ie we will help you do do the changes.
Hi Tim, thanks for your review, I’m sorry you are not happier. Please email support@dogs.ie and we can get you sorted out straight away.
We had to lock the fields as some people were changing the breeds to sell multiple dogs.
“The site is good, well run and the admin team are supportive. However through no fault of the site this is the second time Ive advertised my dog for rehoming on the site. it has cost me 100 euro so far. Unfortunately Ive had no serious responses yet, only time wasters or, in my opinion unsuitable homes. Ie people wanting to keep her outside. I'm hoping to find someone soon as she is a lovely dog but does not get on with the other dog.”
Hi Anon, Thank you for your time for your feedback. We have removed one of the person who has contacted you from our platform. Please report other messages to support@dogs.ie
We also run adultdogs.ie to help dogs over 2 years of age get more visibility with people. About 90% of ads are for puppies and young dogs, so ads can get a bit lost in the mix. Hopefully you will get some legitimate contacts soon and get a new home for your dog.
Hi Linda, thanks for your review. I'm sorry you are not fully hapopy with the experience. If you email support@dogs.ie we can help get your ad look like you want.
“My ad has been up for a few days and I have had only one contact who ultimately bought elsewhere. I feel that the fee to advertise is quite steep if no sale results. Perhaps a partial refund should be introduced where no sale results. My cost for sale is below the price of other sellers for a purebred IKC pup of this breed, so it’s not an unreasonable cost that has caused lack of contact from buyers.”
Thanks for your review Anon, and I'm sorry you are not happier. Your ad has been seen 300+ times since it was published 4 days ago.
We have updated the format of your ad to be a bit more readable. Here are some further tips:
You are selling a 5 month old dog this may be causing people to question why it's being sold at this age. Perhaps you can update the description to add some more context in here too.
In your ad you've said the price is fixed, if there is any wiggle room on price you can set this from fixed to negotiable.
I would also encourage you to upload some images where the dog is clearer, and not too zoomed in, so someone can get a better idea of the puppy.
“I think if the ad is paid for, we should be allowed to bump it for free at least once. Also I feel sellers are all treated as if we are puppy farming. This is unfair and I feel those of us that ADORE our dogs get little too no exposure as dog lovers. Only for these two complaints I would give 5 star review.”
Hi Anon,
Thanks for your review and I’m sorry you are not happier. Our pricing is clear and upfront. It is linked from every page and just before you list your dog for sale. There shouldn’t have been any surprises.
If you weren’t happy with the price, there are other options for advertising your dog for sale that you could have maybe considered.
Looking at your ad, you have already received two messages about your litter so it does appear your ad is working well.
Hi Tadhg,
Thanks for your review, looking at your ad, one thing you could do is show clearly which dog you are selling, and have a picture of them on their own in the first image. This is the one that's shown when people search a category of dogs. Some people may be confused as to what dog you are selling.
“Honestly not impressed with this web site. It took to long for the adverts to be made public even though information was giving I can understand checks and verifications have to be made”
Hi Ailish,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and I’m sorry you are not happier.
Somethings that delayed your ad being published :
1) not having the microchips for each dog in your ad. You had listed 1 but you were selling 3.
2) microchips not being registered. It’s a legal requirement before you advertise your dog that it has to be registered in your name. If your vet doesn’t do this electronically this can add to the delay while we wait for this.
Both of these points are also explained in the terms that you accept when placing your ad.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Rhiannon, and I'm sorry your are not happier.

“I have experienced a lot of time wasters so far not doing their homework on breed of my dog size etc including people asking me for the dog for free crackpots unfortunately but i will persevere 😓”
“The price! is far to expensive for this service. Dd was much cheaper and better, more people was there, bigger interest. Dogs.ie is not that popular.
Also all mix dogs ( coocapoodle, multipo and any other 💩) should be categorised as mix breed not under one of the breed category.”
Hi Dominika
Thanks for your review, I’m sorry you are not happier. Finding a new home for older dogs, like your 4.5 year old Boston Terrier can be more difficult, but we do have a site adultdogs.ie to assist with this.
Price per ad is published before an ad is placed, so there shouldn’t be any surprises on costs. There are other websites you can try, we list more than 15 alternatives here https://help.dogs.ie/knowledge-base/selling-your-dog/#dogs-ie-alternatives
Mixed breed dogs like a “coocapoodle” or a Cockapoo are in their own categories. Mixed breeds can select two breeds to show people what their name traits are.
