“I was very good, however, I think that the 7 week rule is very restrictive because our puppies were ready to go at 8 weeks so there's only a window of one week. A litter of pups of large breeds gets very challenging every week after 8 weeks and your rule almost guarantees owners will have puppies after 8 weeks.”
Thanks for the review and feedback Eugene.
We had to add the 7 week rule as breeders were getting dogs chipped very early and advertising them at 5+ weeks and some were even selling them before the legal 8 weeks, which is very dangerous to the puppy’s health. Putting the publish date at 7 weeks avoids this situation happening. That being said, we do get your point and we are happy to discuss exceptions on a case by case basis, especially for larger breeds.
“I found it much easier to put up the photographs than before. Thank you.
I tried to edit the description but couldn't click into it.
Otherwise it was fine.”
“Very helpful when emailing regarding an issue. Efficient service. A little costly. Can't change the description in the ad after published. Can change price and if sold. Uploading photos was not straight forward enough. I had an album created of the photos to use but couldn't access this, only all of my photos ( which was a lot to go through). And only sold one pup so far. Only 3 people have contacted me from this ad which is disappointing.”
“This was my first time using dogs.ie and I found it good and easy to use overall.
I did manage to sell two puppies to very good homes and that is what counts. A few spurious callers was not appreciated but I guess not much can be done to prevent them looking at ads when available to the public.”
Hi Owen
Thanks for your review. These “issues” would be down to a few things that are outside of dogs.ie’s control.
1) age the dog can be microchipped safely - this is set by your vet. Some larger breeds can be microchipped earlier if they have enough fat / skin between their shoulder blades. Often vets do the microchipping at the same time as vaccinations too, to keep visit frequency to a minimum.
2) IKC processing time. This is most likely due to limits on their resources and the fact that they are mostly paper base. For faster processing you could also have your vet register the dogs with Fido or Animark while you wait for the IKC. Sometimes the IKC have taken over 3 weeks to process.
3) legal requirements set by the Department of Agriculture state that the dog has to be 8 weeks before it can be taken away from its mother. This is seen as best practise around the world.
4) dogs.ie only publishes ads at 7 weeks, if this is a Saturday or a Sunday we can publish the Friday before.
Hopefully you can update your review just to rate the part of the experience to do with us.
Dogs.ie Team.
“Love dogs.ie. Support team is brilliant.
One thing i would like to see different is the inbox, the title of the each message should be the name of the person that's messaging. If i want to go back to the certain text, take ages because have to open every single text to figure out out who's sending it.
But that's the only thing, other than that really works perfect.”
